<p>This project presents a model of monitoring GUI, built for human search and rescue system, part of RESCUER system. This system is an innovative system with main task decreasing the human involvement in human search and rescue or another type of dangerous missions. In this project we try to make functional and easy to use interface that provide the most necessary information on one screen, such as map of the investigated area, human presence, environment status and status of the most important sensors of the robocar. We also present two already developed interfaces solving similar to ours problem and compare our interface with them and also we present the way of building our GUI on Matlab environment. The final result is an interface, combining the advantages of the other two investigated GUIs and visualises the risk zones, different types of risks that can be expected in the investigated area.</p>

Osobnostní charakteristiky u záchranářů / Personal characteristics of rescuersDAVIDOVÁ, Klára January 2009 (has links)
The profession of rescuers is very stressful and requires high level of resistance against stress, connected to pro-social tendencies, which are altruism and empathy. The theoretical part is divided into five topics related to the research. These topics are: helping professions, competence of helping professions, pro-social behaviour, integrated emergency system in the Czech Republic and the last theoretical part concerns personality. The objective of this research was to identify some personality characteristics of rescuers in South Bohemian region, in consideration of pro-social behaviour. The research was carried out in rescue service in South Bohemian region and at the University of South Bohemia. Research was devised through a questionnaire that was given to 77 rescuers (12 of them were studying the subject rescuer at the University of South Bohemia).

Příčiny genocidy ve Rwandě: Psychologické aspekty / Causes of genocide in Rwanda: Psychological aspectsBurešová, Jana January 2012 (has links)
Ethnic discrimination has deep roots in Rwanda. For many dozens of years, Tutsis have been marked down as those whose task it is to rule the country and Hutus have been treated as those who have to submit to it. As time moved on, Hutu hatred had been growing steadily and resulted in coup d'état in 1959 and consequent persecutions of Tutsis. However, hidden grudge lingered on. The pretext for its revival was the RPF incursion into the country at the beginning of nineties. The invasion also became one of the major preconditions of the fastest genocide in history. This thesis aims to pinpoint actors with direct and also indirect influence, to specify their motives, to assess implications of their decisions and on the grounds of this all to divide them into groups of perpetrators, bystanders and rescuers. The identification of psychological aspects of Hutu perpetrators was made with intent to analyse the process of Us-Them thinking with its typical features and consequences and the process of dehumanization with particular emphasis on its linguistic forms. In connection with that, this thesis points out crucial importance of Rwandan media of hate which determined anti-Tutsi propaganda to a considerable extent.

Etické aspekty a dilemata práce hasiče-záchranáře / Ethical aspects and dilemmas of work of fireman-rescuerTichá, Růžena January 2011 (has links)
A fire guard/rescuer vocation means to fight fire and to rescue human lives on daily basis. It is physically and mentally a very demanding job which impose excessive requirements on firemen/rescuers, especially during interventions at tragic events. In my thesis, I tried to realize fire guards'/rescuers' attitude to their job from the ethic side, especially how they perceive following ethic standards during their interventions. I am describing ethic dilemma in this occupation, firemen's attitude to this issue and their experience as well. In the theoretical part of my thesis I am introducing a summary of expert opinions on general apprehension of ethic and moral requirements, on the value system, on the stress incidence in a human life and on the need of psychological support. These all things compared to the professional fire guards'/rescuers' activities. The practical part is presented by the qualitative research where interviews with fire guards/rescuers and their commanders represent experiences and opinions of both groups on this issue. Key words: ethics, dilemma, fire guard/rescuer, values, psychological support, stress.

ABSTRACT
From the alignment between the Semiotics developed by the philosophers, Charles
Sanders Peirce, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, and the theoretical update for the
Domain Analysis activity, based on the assumptions defended by the researchers of
the Royal School of Library and Information Science, from Denmark, notably Birger
Hjørland and Torkild Thellefsen, this thesis discusses the aspects of cognition to be
observed to determine the signified in a universe of discourse concerning at facts of
a domain, with the aim of increasing the degree of approximation between the
realities, of the facts, understood and signified. In this way, a deepening of the
process of knowledge acquisition is made, with the criticism at the atomist and
structuralist approach, in which terms and relations of the universe of discourse are
specified from a direct relation between sign and signified, a conception where the
expression exceeds the content, and the space dimension prevails over the time
dimension in the process of significance. The study environment used is that
referring to computational ontologies, knowledge bases supported on semantic
networks and semiotic frames, focused on the phases that go from the understanding
of the reality of a domain to that where the significance of terms and relations is
treated in order to obtain their respective signified. The research, in its experimental
phase, within the proposed reference, analyzed the stages of development of the
EDXL-RESCUER ontology, opposing the hypotheses treated in the thesis and the
process of development of the ontology, resulting in a critical approach and a
corresponding theoretical foundation, complemented by a methodology for Domain
Analysis capable of acting in a post-structuralist dimension. The applied research
method is qualitative, exploratory, involving updating the state of the art to the
presented concepts, from the analysis of an ontology construction project

Tomtén, Linn January 2021 (has links)
This essay aims to study which competencies, motives, and conditions that volunteer rescuers in the Aland Islands Sea Rescue Society consider important. An underlying aim is to investigate the importance of volunteer maritime rescue for the members themselves and for the local community from a maritime rescue and safety perspective. This is accomplished by examining qualitative ethnographic interviews through Discourse Theory. The essay explores what work tasks and competencies (such as knowledge and skills) volunteer maritime rescuers consider important and what strategies they use to acquire competencies. It even explores what motives they indicate as important for becoming involved as a volunteer rescuer and what conditions enable or limit their participation in the Sea Rescue Society The essay even explores why voluntary lifeguards need to exist in society and how com it exists. The results show that each volunteer rescuer has an individual motive that keeps them engaged. The volunteer rescuers need a general competence but may also have special competence in maritime rescue practices. The living, health, work, and family situation of the volunteer rescuers are conditions that enable or limit their participation in the Sea Rescue Society. The finances of the maritime rescue service may also be a condition enabling or limiting.

The objective of this research is to study whether the three protagonists in the theatre play NoExit (Huis clos), written by Jean Paul Sartre in 1944, are influenced by a relationship game, in this case Karpman’s Drama Triangle. The Drama Triangle consists of three roles, a Victim, aPersecutor, and a Rescuer. The essence of the Drama Triangle is to destabilise others, accordingto a life script that is often dysfunctional and set early in life.

A Comparison of Fatigue During Cardiocerebral Resuscitation with Different Compression Rates Among Layperson and Professional RescuersCassidy, Christopher 01 August 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Quality chest compressions during Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) are vital to maintaining adequate perfusion of oxygenated blood to the organs of the body to sustain life. Over the years, the compression rate recommended in Basic Life Support (BLS)/ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) protocols for the best possible outcome has risen, and with that increase there are questions regarding rescuer fatigue and the effectiveness of compressions. Layperson and professional rescuers, answering to an emergency, both maintain continuous chest compressions until advanced life support arrives. Depending on the location, this arrival time would most likely be longer than the two minute standard time given to rotate rescuers before fatigue compromises performance. The objective of this research was to investigate the level of rescuer fatigue associated with continuous compressions, varying compression rates, physical fitness, gender, and among layperson versus professional rescuers.
Sixty-one participants performed uninterrupted chest compressions on a manikin for 15 minutes. Before performing compressions, physical fitness was evaluated using a YMCA bench press for an assessment of upper body strength/endurance and a 3-minute step test to evaluate aerobic fitness. Subjects performed two trials at compression rates of greater or equal to 80 and greater or equal to 100 per minute with a 5-minute rest between trials.
Male professional rescuers had a greater strength/endurance, and thus were able to perform compressions for a longer period of time compared to their female counterparts. Compression duration and the YMCA Bench Press test score were significantly correlated (p = .0135). Cardiocerebral Resuscitation providers should maintain an adequate upper body strength, particularly if they may be required to perform continuous chest compressions at high rates for more than a few minutes.
