Using deep learning time series forecasting to predict dropout in childhood obesity treatment / Förutsägelse av bortfall i ett behandlingsprogram för barnfetma med hjälp av djupinlärda tidsserieförutsägelserSchoerner, Jacob January 2021 (has links)
The author investigates the performance of a time series based approach in predicting the risk of patients abandoning treatment in a treatment program for childhood obesity. The time series based approach is compared and contrasted to an approach based on static features (which has been applied in similar problems). Four machine learning models are constructed; one ‘Main model’ using both time series forecasting and three ‘reference models’ created by removing or exchanging parts of the main model to test the performance of using only time series forecasting or only static features in the prediction. The main model achieves an ROC-AUC of 0.77 on the data set. ANOVA testing is used to determine whether the four models perform differently. A difference cannot be verified at the significance level of 0.05, and thus, the author concludes that the project cannot show either an advantage or a disadvantage to employing a time series based approach over static features in this problem.

Strategies Hospital Leaders Use in Implementing Electronic Medical Record SystemsMiller, Shaunette 01 January 2017 (has links)
Some hospital leaders lacked strategies for implementing electronic medical record (EMR) systems. The purpose of this case study was to explore successful strategies that hospital leaders used in implementing EMR systems. The target population consisted of hospital leaders who succeeded in implementing EMR systems in a single healthcare organization located in the Los Angeles, California region. The conceptual framework used was Kotter's (1996) eight-step process for leading change, and data were collected from face-to-face recorded interviews with 5 participants and from company documents related to EMR design and development. Data were analyzed through methodological triangulation of data types, and exploring codes exhibiting high frequencies to identify principal themes and subthemes. The data coding revealed three primary themes. The first theme related to strategies addressing training, technology, and catalyzing team effort. The second theme related to strategies focusing on employees' concerns, and the third theme related to strategies for designing, developing, and disseminating workflow. The findings affirmed the conceptual framework of Kotter (1996) inasmuch as they showed that participating hospital leaders used one or more steps in Kotter's eight-stage process of creating, implementing, and sustaining significant change. The findings could effect social change by improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients, which can subsequently benefit patients' families and communities through reducing the costs of healthcare.

[en] VOICES OF THE REFORM: AN ANALYSIS OF THE MEDIA COVERAGE OF SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM IN TELEJOURNALISM / [pt] VOZES DA REFORMA: UMA ANÁLISE DA COBERTURA DA REFORMA DA PREVIDÊNCIA SOCIAL NO TELEJORNALISMOFLAVIA DE OLIVEIRA MOREIRA OLAZ 16 September 2020 (has links)
[en] This research analyses the media coverage of Social Security Reform in Brazilian telejournalism, specifically investigating if Jornal Nacional (JN) and Jornal da Record (JR) have pluralized and diversified voices when reporting about the Social Security Reform, considering that they are supposed to follow the journalistic principals as impartiality and objectivity according to the Code of Ethics of Brazilian Journalists. A bibliographic research was performed to understand the social function of Brazilian television through a brief historical route (BARBOSA, 2013). It is believed that it can resolve the intrinsic relations among this apparatus, the business model (BOLAÑO, 2004), the concentration of media outlets (BRITTOS, 2004; LIMA, 2011) and the function of telejournalism in our society. Alfredo Vizeu s (2000; 2009) and Beatriz Becker s (2005; 2016) concepts were considered in the analyses. In order to attend the objective of identifying the voices heard by JN and JR, a content analyses was performed in the way proposed by Bardin (2016), and after examining 36 editions focusing on the theme, it was possible to say that those TV News have given privilege to some voices instead of others. As a result, all the voices heard by both programs were for the reform. None of the TV News, in the analyzed editions, have shown different points of view, which did not allow a manifestation of opinions or a free debate of ideas.

Linnaeus University Supervisor: Anders Fröjmark Examiner: Erik Wångmar Author: Hanna Jansson Title: Prison penitentiary in the late 1800:s. Hard labor prisoners in Karlskrona and Landskrona prison and their sentences. The purpose with this paper is to examine how Swedish prisons alter over time. In this paper two prisons are compared in various times to illustrate the changes over time. The prisons go from only having a few inmates to an increase with over 40 inmates. The two prisons are also compared which similarities and differences they have. How the courts make their judgements is also a question that is treated in this paper. The judgements are similar which indicates a strong central control. This paper will also focus on how you can use the source material in secondary school teaching. There is found, among of other things, a source exercise.

An investigation into the effectiveness of finance committees at schools / Ntombizodwa Moudrick MakiriMakiri, Ntombizodwa Moudrick January 2014 (has links)
This study intended to explore the effectiveness of finance committees at schools. A qualitative design, using interviews with purposely selected participants made up of fifteen school principals and ten finance officers in the Sedibeng Districts of the Gauteng Department of Education was used for data collection. This was aimed at exploring how effective school finance committees are and to recommend ways of improving their effectiveness in executing their financial management function. The literature study exposed the conceptual framework and essence of the functional effectiveness of school finance committees, which laid the basis for the empirical study. The empirical study was based on the social constructivist paradigm with the phenomenological approach as the strategy of enquiry. Findings of the study indicate that school finance committees are generally structured in line with policy directives. It was also found that the performance and attitudes of office-bearers of finance committees affected the effectiveness of finance committees. Firstly and for various reasons, principals as ex-officio members generally played a dominant role in finance committees. Reasons include their perceived ‘high‘ level of knowledge regarding financial management and the lack of knowledge and skills of other finance committee members to execute their responsibilities. Secondly, finance committee effectiveness was found to be negatively affected by poor budgetary processes – from the planning process to the implementation and monitoring, which include weaknesses in financial administration and reporting as well as evaluation of the budget implementation process. As a result, the management of funds was often characterised by budget variances and the need for virement. Recommendations of the study address the need for intensive capacity-building for finance committee members in specific areas of their roles and functionality. This must be accompanied by constant monitoring by Departmental development and support officers responsible for school governance. In this regard, there must be a feedback and system that enables corrective action to be taken as soon as signs of poor performance emerge. Finally, it is recommended that the structure of the finance committee be reviewed, especially as it concerns office-bearers. In this regard, it is recommended that finance officers be charged with the responsibility of financial administration and not double up as secretaries of school governing bodies. / MEd (Education Management)--North-West University, Vaal Triangle Campus, 2015

Records managment in support of service delivery in the public health sector of the Limpopo Province in South AfricaMarutha, Ngoako Solomon 12 1900 (has links)
This study focuses on records management in support of service delivery in the public health
sector of Limpopo Province, South Africa. The study sought to investigate whether the
current records-keeping practices support or undermine service delivery and the e-health
readiness level. Mixed methods were used for the survey. Questionnaires, observation and
interviews were used to collect data. Purposive sampling method was used to identify
interview participants and stratified random sampling for questionnaire participants. The total
population of the study was 324 from which 210 participants were sampled. The response
rate was 77% (162).
The study discovered that records management negatively affected timely and effective
health care services. This resulted in long patient waiting times and patients being treated
without their medical history records. The study recommended the introduction of an
electronic records management system capable of capturing and providing access to a full
patient record and tracking paper record movement. / Information Science
