Geografia política e geopolítica no Brasil (1982-2012) / Political Geography and Geopolitics in Brazil (1982-2012)

Karol, Eduardo 31 January 2014 (has links)
This thesis discusses Political Geography and Geopolitics produced by geographers between 1982 and 2012, looking to identify which topics were the most discussed, the places where they were produced and the existence of specialists linked to the formulation of territorial policies of the Brazilian State. Thus, this thesis debates a new moment in Brazilian Geography, showing that the negligence of the geographers towards an analysis of the State did not go off the education and research institutions. Among the results achieved, this thesis also exposes the concentration of production in the hands of few geographers, an observed situation throughout the whole 20th century, the location of the production based on large universities in the biggest urban centers of the country, and the bond of geographers with State policies of territorial organization. It concludes that, during the period observed, the works of Bertha K. Becker are widely spread in the Political Geography and Geopolitc, and that the renew, which intended to make geographers not to produce studies about the State has failed, an in fact, the number of studies about territorial policies of the State has grown.

Om- tillbyggnationer samt renoveringar av Sankt Larskyrkan i Linköping / Reconstructions, extensions and renovations of St Lars Church in Linköping

Johansson, Evelina January 2018 (has links)
Johansson, Evelina. 2018. 2018. Reconstructions, extensions and renovations of St Lars Church in Linköping     St Lars Church is a white stone church located in central Linköping. In this thesis I will cover the processes behind the two most recent renovations of St Lars Church. The earlier of the two renovations was carried out in the 1950’s. The main purpose of this renovation was to literally prevent a total collapse of the church structure. Adding modern technology to the church was a priority at the most recent renovation in 2016, mainly in order to create an atmosphere which would make everyone feel welcome. I will also cover the media attention that these renovations attracted.   The material used in this thesis includes available literature, archive material, and interviews of key individuals from the most recent renovation. I have also visited the church to study the most recent renovation and gain insight into the excavations that were part of the process.   Historical records only describe the larger scaled renovations. This has led to a greater subjective valuation put into the decisions and discussions put forth during these processes. Individuals part of the historical renovations have consciously, or sub-consciously, been influenced by preceding historical ideas. Studying a historical period of time in the context of current influences lies at the hearth of the history of ideas, all the while understanding that absolute truths will never be discovered.

Säkerhetsaspekter i byggnader : Säkerhetens påverkan på en byggnads användning, funktion och arkitektur / SAFETY ASPECTS IN BUILDINGS : The impact of safety on a buildings use, function and architecture

Yurdagül, Özge, Wotinsev, Alex January 2022 (has links)
This thesis reports a study in safety aspects in buildings, with a focuson safety against antagonistic threats, as it is a less researched and documented topic compared to, for example, fire safety. The study also investigates how these safety aspects affect or are affected by a given building's main function and activities, depending on whether a planned construction project concerns new construction or renovation, reconstruction, and extension work. The purpose of this study was to get an overview of howdesigners from relevant consulting disciplines and managers of existing buildings think and plan about safety, to then compile and analyze this overall experience feedback, in order to create recommendations for future construction projects on how the design of safety aspects in eachconstruction project can be carried out. These recommendations are created partly through a collective experience from safety work in previous projects, and partly through wishes about how safety planning can be improved for the future. The work was carried out with different methods; partly with severalinterviews with relevant designers, consultants and managers who have worked with security work in various forms, partly on study visits to three buildings with varying activities based on openness to the public, which means that security aspects against antagonistic threats are important. The work resulted in an enlightenment of the problems regarding safety design that planners and consultants encounter, for example that the planning regarding safety takes place at a late stage in the design, which means that problems such as misunderstandings of requirements, miscalculations and selection of materials and products must be corrected. which contributes to greater cost and time loss. A problem that also arises is that designers often lack the competence or knowledge of safety planning against antagonistic threats, mostly because the minimum requirements are not clearly stated in legislation and regulations butappear in standards and norms that few know of in the industry. These minimum requirements are also supplemented, rewritten and adapted by various claimants such as insurance companies, which leads to further confusion about which requirements apply. Recommendations on how toprevent the occurrence of problems such as these and further problems appear in a compiled checklist amongthe report's results, which can be helpful for both clients and consultants in future projects.

Creating Library Learning Spaces that Support Twenty-First Century Pedagogy and Student Learning

Christoffersen, Deborah Lynn 17 June 2020 (has links)
University libraries struggle to keep up with rapidly changing technology and the associated change in teaching strategy. Most administrators and librarians are often not trained to assess space needs and struggle to reassign library spaces for non-traditional library use. As such, they often embark on expensive and time-consuming feasibility studies, using (typically) hard-earned monies to complete the research or to pilot a new space. What academic research library administrators and staff lack is an analysis tool for discovering and planning needed renovations and improvements in aging library facilities. The purpose of this research project was to determine how students use library spaces for learning in this new high-tech, hands-on education experience (i.e. synthesis of previous research); develop a tool that can be used by library staff to self-analyze existing academic library spaces, identifying areas that could be improved for student benefit (e.g. provide a checklist of potential learning spaces that institutions should carefully consider adding to their facilities); and provide some examples/case studies of potential facility improvements. The end result is a hierarchical self-analysis tool that merges space options, Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and an example of library-user personas. It also provides some general cost guidelines, helpful construction tips, and a synthesis of exploratory questions related to strategy and space. The tool uses evidence-based design to facilitate important conversations, provide an organized checklist of various considerations, and be a quick reference for library administrators and facility managers as they navigate the world of twenty-first century pedagogy and student learning.
