A history of the Australian extreme right since 1950

Henderson, Peter Charles, University of Western Sydney, College of Arts, Education and Social Sciences, School of Humanities January 2002 (has links)
This thesis is a narrative history of the major groups and individuals on the Australian extreme right since 1950. It assesses their genesis, growth, successes and failures as well as their origins in regard to Australia’s domestic situation and international influences. Various arguments are put forward: groups that emerged in the post World War 2 period are different than preceding groups; the Social Credit movement is in decline; the ideas of neo-Nazi and fascist groups, while powerful, are generally no longer viable; anti-immigration and racial nationalist groups were an attempt to forge an indigenous movement; the role of individual activists are an important element in extreme right political activity; the Confederate Action Party was destroyed by internecine fighting; the Citizens Electoral Council is representative of a movement with the potential to promote dissent in society and may become one of the more important groups of the extreme right; Pauline Hanson’s movement eventually proved damaging to the extreme right. It is concluded that the extreme right has exerted a significant negative influence over Australian society, influencing both national and international trends / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Lind, Jenny January 2008 (has links)

Currently, the whole globe is faced with serious problems which negatively affect people around the world: increased pollution, excessive waste, and weather pattern changes. ‘Left’ and ‘right’ wing political parties alike have embraced ‘green’ politics and for many of these parties, environmental issues have become a top priority that is very much reflected in their manifestos. This study examines the environmental goals of two of Sweden’s largest political parties and how these ambitions are reflected at a local level. The conclusions I have drawn in the study have been achieved by analysing official documents and by the comparison between two Swedish municipalities. As a result of my research, I have learned that the political leanings of a party are substantial in determining the goals and works for long-term sustainability at a local level. However, whether the prevailing parties are of the ‘left’ or ‘right’ political orientation does not seem to be of big importance because both ‘wings’ in Sweden are very liberal and have very similar environmental goals.

Karel Horký: rytíř ulice (život a politická publicistika novinářského buřice) / Karel Horký: The Knight of the Street (The Life and Political Publishing of the Journalistic Rebel)

Filípek, Štěpán January 2010 (has links)
This dissertation offers a detailed analysis of the political publishing of Karel Horký (1879- 1965), one of the important but neglected Czech journalists in the first half of the twentieth century. It also seeks to contrast his life with the contemporary political system, and describes how media texts are influenced by political, social or cultural milieu. A historical biographical method was used to explore the topic, and interpretation is divided chronologically into the compact periods of Horký's life and work. The dissertation shows that Czech journalism was devastatingly affected by political organizations and their leaders in the Czechoslovakia. The impartiality of journalists was essentially impossible. It also shows how different political regimes control, degrade, and exploit them.

Wohnrath, Vinicius Parolin, 1985- 08 June 2012 (has links)

Abstract: This research's aim is to comprehend the social conditions that allowed the public debate about parental affection. Presently, there are three law projects following the legal channels. Their intent is to turn into a positive law the need of the parents to love their children - a juridical resource that hasn't been integrated to the Brazilian legislation yet. Inserted in the space that studies family organization and children's rights, this dissertation searched for the founding speeches, for the strategies, for the connections and for the practical actions mobilized by these militants who are interested in legitimate this new family law. In order to reveal the repertory articulated by these agents, were taken as research sources their biographies, available in specialized dictionaries (family origin, habitus, academic formation, professional actuation, national and international relations, etc.), the institutional documents, the memoir production, the Law projects, the parliamentarians speeches and the composition of the selected committees. As we inquire the social construction of the affection imposed as an obligation, relating it with the trajectories of the militants who put into circulation determined patterns, we try denaturalizing the Law - bringing light to the disputes placed in the juridical and political fields to officialize specific ways of domestic acquaintanceship in the last three decades. / Mestrado / Educação, Conhecimento, Linguagem e Arte / Mestre em Educação

Italian racialized women and feminist activism : Exploring discourses of white women in Italian feminist activism work

Contini, Alice January 2020 (has links)
The starting point of this study is the common assumption that the Italian society is based on a patriarchal ideological system in which racism is often normalized. The binary distinction between women and men in Italian society has evolved into discussions and awareness raising on genderbased violence or violence against women. As intersectionality has become a central point in Italian contemporary feminism, this study uses the analysis of topics related to the historical creation of the idea of Italian-ness, migration and the influence of right-wing politics in current gender related issues as the basis of a feminist Critical Discourse Analysis. With this in mind, using intersectional theory, postcolonial feminism, and studies of whiteness, the study aims at exploring as to which extent the discourses of three white Italian women, who identify as feminist activists, influence the presence of racialized Italian women in their work. This study should create academic data and contribute to a research that is extremely limited on these topics.

Kartografien der Sexualpolitik: intersektionale Diskurse in der lateinamerikanischen Sexualwissenschaft

Nitschke, Johannes January 2017 (has links)
