Kruse, Elin January 2013 (has links)
Panteá Farvid & Virginia Brauns artikel “The ‘Sassy’ Woman and the ‘Performing’ Man: Heterosexual Casual Sex Advice and the (re)constitution of Gendered Subjectivities”, och Leto DeFrancisco och Penny O’Conners intressanta inlägg “A feminist critique of self-help books on heterosexual romance: Read ‘Em and Weep”.

Making Space: Disorientating bodies in trans and queer spaces of support

Matthews, Evan January 2013 (has links)
This thesis explores young people’s transgenderings through negotiations of language, bodies and experiences of different peer and community-based support spaces in Aotearoa New Zealand. It critically examines what ‘support’ means for young people in relation to developing subjectivities and embodiments shaped by being both young and transgender/ gender non-conforming. While these perspectives are varied, I argue that the production of community and peer-based support for those who are both young and transgender or gender non-conforming has been undergoing a period of significant change, reflecting queer and postmodern shifts which have worked to re-conceptualise the ways queer and transgender communities and peers are imagined, incorporating a greater inclusive focus on diversity. Utilising Sara Ahmed’s concept of queer phenomenology and post-structuralist theory, the thesis thinks beyond binary approaches to gender and support, to consider support and gender non-conformity through the process of ‘disorientation’. Throughout this project both ‘gender’ and ‘support’ are positioned as being subjective, embodied and discursive knowledges and actions, represented in multiple and contradictory ideas, identities and expressions of the different participants. The study utilises in-depth qualitative interviews with participants who are young people (aged 16-30 years) and support providers and developers of transgender/queer based support in Aotearoa New Zealand. Working with young people and support providers, this research provides an analysis of support development for transgender and gender non-conforming young people in Aotearoa New Zealand, arguing that all participants in support (both providers and recipients) are shaping its provision.

Israelsson, Marcus January 2014 (has links)
In January 2004 two members of the Pentecostal community Knutby Filadelfia in Uppsalamunicipality, Sweden, were shot by their fellow member Sara Svensson. With a qualitative hermeneutic case study as the principal method this essay takes on the task of not only investigating if and how Stockholm Syndrome can be used as a model for interpreting and understanding the violent incident in Knutby Filadelfia, but also to see if the unique characteristic of the Knutby incident can tell us something about Stockholm Syndrome as a model for understanding violence in religious movements. The material shows Stockholm Syndrome as having been present in Knutby because of among other things, a mileu, leadership and theology that supported the normalization of abuse and the enabling and maintaining of self punishment in the community. While Stockholm Syndrome still is a controversial theory this study shows that it can be used as a powerful tool in the understanding of violence in religious contexts.

Känslan i bilden : Sociala taggars användbarhet vid bildsökning i Flickr

Boye, Anna January 2014 (has links)
Image indexing research today is either conducted on a visual attribute level or on a higher semantic level, forming a semantic gap between the two. There is much to gain if research progress from the two fields is combined. Image retrieval using access points in both visual and semantic significations could improve retrieval and bridge the gap. In social media today, images are often the primary communication agent and the number of images on the web is increasing in an uncontrolled way. New and efficient ways to index and retrieve the images are needed. The purpose of this study is to examine if emotions could be a semantic access point for image retrieval and if folksonomy indexing is useful when searching for images that represent emotions. Images are retrieved from Flickr and Sara Shatford’s matrix for image indexing is used to classify image tags into categories. The result shows that for some emotions it is useful and there is a clear pattern in the retrieved relevant images. For other emotions there are a lot of images that have been tagged on a cluster of images and all images in the cluster is not relevant. Therefore the search result is ambiguous. An interesting observation is that index words expressing abstractions and feelings are more common in folksonomies compared to professional indexers. For specific web image collections where searches could be conducted on feelings, folksonomies is a successful method for the indexing and retrieval of images.

Förmedla utan att förråda : En studie i utanförskap i Sara Lidmans Regnspiran och Bära mistel

Grahn, Lisa January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is a study of social alienation in two novels by Sara Lidman, Regnspiran (1958) and Bära mistel (1960). Taking the Swedish ”people’s home” and the normative view of people that it entailed as its point of departure, it examines the different kinds of alienation present in Lidman’s work. The analysis consists of three main parts. Part one examines geographical alienation in the novels, as well as the process of racialization of bodies that are considered out of place. Part two considers how different types of masculinity is represented in the novels, as they intersect structures of religion, class and sexuality. The third and last part is concentrated on the main character of the novels, Linda Ståhl, and the deviant female artist in general. The conclusion is that the novels lends a voice to people in many different kinds of alienation. It also poses questions about identity that run even deeper. Through imitation and stage art, the main characters build layers of identity that questions the idea of an essential, ”real” identity. Processes that genders and racializes people become visible, and the performative acts that create identity are heightened and put in focus.
