Exploring the attraction of nurses to a managed care organizationStraulino, Patrizia 27 January 2014 (has links)
The main aim of this research study was to explore attraction factors pertaining to the literature and to the occupational context of nursing personnel who have exhibited employment interest in a managed care organisation. A qualitative research approach was adopted in which semi-structured interviews were held to collect rich exploratory data from the purposeful sample of nine applicants with nursing qualifications.
Twenty-five themes were identified through interpretive data analysis as being important factors in the pre-interview attraction process. The highest ranking of these were identified to be opportunities for professional and personal growth and the relationship with the managed care client, followed by salary and working hours. This study contributes knowledge to Personnel and Career Psychology in the field of Industrial and Organisational Psychology and is pertinent to organisations recruiting nurses, advising them in the formulation of contextually appropriate attraction strategies that attend to the most notable attraction factors / Industrial & Organisational Psychology / M.Com. Ce mémoire a pour objectif de comprendre la situation de l’emploi et le salaire pour les diplômés universitaires en Chine à l’entrée du marché de travail pendant les dernières années. Après la revue de littérature, nous avons supposé trois hypothèses sur la compétence personnelle basée sur la théorie du capital humain.
Dans cette recherche, les données retenues proviennent de deux sources : (1) les canaux officiels, y inclus les rapports diffusés et les statistiques publiées par le ministère de l’Éducation ou le Bureau national des Statistiques en Chine. (2) les canaux non gouvernementaux, soit les institutions d’enquêtes indépendantes et les organisations académiques en Chine.
Nos résultats d’observation nous permettent de constater que les diplômés chinois sont exposés à une vive concurrence dans un marché où l’offre de travail y est excédentaire. Les caractéristiques personnelles, la qualité de l’enseignement, le niveau de scolarité et la discipline d’étude, peuvent affecter dans une certaine mesure l’emploi et le salaire de départ.
Finalement, nous concluons ce mémoire avec des propositions de pistes de solution aux caractéristiques chinoises qui visent à réduire la difficulté d’emplois des diplômés. / The objective of current study is to understand the situation of employment and the entrance level salary for graduates in China of recent years. According to the literature review, we assumed three hypotheses regarding individual competence based on the theory of human capital.
The data in this research came from two sources: (1) the official channels, including reports and statistics published by the Ministry of Education or the National Statistics Bureau in China. (2) non-governmental channels, including investigation and research work by the institutions independent in China.
Our analysis showed that Chinese graduates were exposed in a oversupply labor market. However, some personal character in academic background, such as the teaching quality, education level and study subject, may have an impact on employment and entrance level salary to some degree.
In the end we draw a conclusion with Chinese-style solution, which aims at reducing the problem of unemployment.

In any case, before agreeing to a piece-rate determined price it is imperative that the person responsible for negotiating on behalf of the company knows the relationship of this piece rate compared to expected labour costs as an objective in the opening plans. Can pay-for-performance increase the motivation of public employees? By providing a basis for personnel decisions, particularly linking rewards to performance, performance appraisals aim to increase employees' work motivation and ultimately to improve their work performance and organizational productivity. With the emphasis on results-oriented management, performance appraisals have become a key managerial tool in the public sector. Critics charge, however, that pay-for-performance is ineffective in the public sector, largely because the link between performance and rewards is weak. However, no one has empirically measured the strength of the linkage.
If performance ratings do have an impact on career success in the federal service, they might contribute to race and gender inequality. Although many studies have examined factors affecting gender and racial differences in career success, studies that try to connect gender and racial inequalities to managerial tools are scarce.
Using a one percent sample of federal personnel records, the first essay examines the impact of performance ratings on salary increases and promotion probabilities, and the second essay explores whether women and minorities receive lower ratings than comparable white males, and women and minorities receive lower returns on the same level of performance ratings than comparable white males. The first essay finds that performance ratings have only limited impact on salary increases, but that they significantly affect promotion probability. Thus, the argument that performance-rewards link is weak could be partially correct, if it considers only pay-performance relationships. The second essay finds that women receive equal or higher performance ratings than comparable white men, but some minority male groups, particularly black men, tend to receive lower ratings than comparable white men. On the other hand, the returns on outstanding ratings do not differ between women and minority male groups and white men, though women groups seem to have disadvantages in promotion with the same higher ratings as comparable men in highly male-dominant occupations.

Att bedöma lärares arbete : En kontrastiv studie mellan kommunala skolor i Sverige och internationella skolor om skolledares arbete med bedömning av lärare / Assessment of Teachers : A comparative study between public schools in Sweden and international schools about school leaders’ work with assessment of teachersMalvebo, Elisabet January 2014 (has links)
Syftet med denna komparativa, enkätbaserade studie var att synliggöra eventuella skillnader i uppfattningen om processen för bedömning av lärares prestationer hos skolledare i några skolor i Sverige och på några internationella skolor. I litteratur-genomgången gick jag igenom ett antal faktorer alt. delmoment som skulle kunna stödja en systematisk utvärderingsprocess och jag placerade in lärarutvärdering som ett led i skolutvecklingsarbete, ett led i den enskilde lärarens professionsutveckling och ett verktyg som stöd för att individuell lönesättning (på de skolor där lön/anställnings-kontrakt kopplas till prestation). Sex olika förutsättningar för utvärdering av lärare presenterades, vilka kopplades till ett systematiskt arbete med lärarutvärdering på skolor. Utifrån dessa ställde jag upp två utgångspunkter, vilka jag avsåg att utvärdera genom denna enkätundersökning: att skolenheter som har en tydlig vision/mission/värdegrund har en mer strukturerad process för bedömning av lärares individuella prestationer och att skolledarna på de internationella skolorna som deltar i undersökningen genomför en mer systematisk utvärdering av lärarnas arbete. Enkäten skickades ut till 94 skolledare genom ett bekvämlighetsurval, med en svarsfrekvens på 38 (40 %). Resultaten visar att den första utgångspunkten inte kunde styrkas genom resultaten men däremot visar det sig att de deltagande skolledarna på de internationella skolorna arbetar något mer systematiskt med lärarutvärdering. Några av de områden där de skiljer sig från de svenska skolledarna i sina svar och som är potentiella utvecklingsområden i det pedagogiska skolledarskapet är utbildning i ämnet, processinriktad utvärdering och tid ägnad åt detta, frekvensen i användandet av observationer/lektionsbesök i utvärderingsprocessen, en tydlig struktur för utvärderingsarbetet och systematik för dokumentation om lärarnas arbete. Utifrån resultaten ser jag en risk att skolledare saknar ett systematiskt och strategiskt förhållningssätt och kunskap om lärarutvärderingar både vad gäller varför, vad, hur och när de ska göras. Kanske gör de bedömningar av lärares individuella prestationer mest på en höft, går på känslan, saknar underlag, utgår från personliga relationer och fattar ad hoc beslut. Vad detta innebär för skolutvecklingsprocessen måste utredas vidare. / The purpose of this comparative, online survey was to bring forth any differences in the perception of the process around teacher performance evaluation among school leaders of a few public schools in Sweden and of a few international schools. In the literature review a number of factors and modules were presented that could support a good systematic evaluation process and I positioned teacher assessment within the frame of school development, within the frame of individual teacher professional development and as a tool to support individual salary systems (at schools were salary and/or contracts are connected to performance). Six main presumptions were put forward concerning teacher assessment, which were connected to a systematic approach to teacher evaluations. Based on these, two main assumptions were made and aimed to be evaluated through the survey; that schools with a clear vision/mission/value statement have a more structured process for individual teacher assessment and that the participating international school leaders have a more systematic evaluation process for teacher assessment. The survey was sent out to 94 school leaders chosen through a convenience sample, with a response rate of 38 (40 %). The results from this study do not support the first assumption but do show that the school leaders at the represented international schools have a somewhat more systematic work process for teacher assessment. Some of the areas were differences are present and that can be considered potential development areas within the pedagogic leadership are: education about teacher assessment, a process orientated assessment system and time spent on this process, the frequency in usage of lesson observations during the assessment process, a clear structure for the assessment process and the use of a systematic method to document collected data. Based on the results I see a risk that school leaders lack a systematic and strategic approach and knowledge about teacher assessment both considering the why, the what, the how and the when it should be conducted. Maybe they judge teachers’ individual achievements based on coincidence, feeling, limited information, and personal relationship and/or make ad hoc decisions. How this effects school development needs to be researched further.

本文於確定提撥退休金制度下,探討基金經理人如何決定最適資產策略規避薪資所得及通貨膨脹之不確定風險,求得期末財富效用期望值極大化。本研究首先擴展Battocchio與Menoncin (2004)所建構之資產模型,我們不僅探討來自市場之風險,同時考量薪資所得、通貨膨脹與費用率之不確定性,研究其對最適資產配置行為的影響,建構隨機控制模型,以動態規劃方法求解Hamiltonian方程式,研究結果顯示,我們可利用五項共同基金分離定理來描述投資人之最適投資決策:短期市場基金、狀態變數避險基金、薪資所得避險基金、通貨膨脹避險基金與現金部位。數值結果顯示,股票持有部位中通貨膨脹避險基金佔有最大的成份,債券持有部位中通貨膨脹避險基金與狀態變數避險基金佔有最大的成份。
關鍵字:確定提撥、薪資的不確定性、通貨膨脹、隨機控制、動態規劃 / In this study, we investigate the portfolio selection problem in order to hedge the labor income and inflation uncertainties for defined contribution (DC) pension schemes. First, we extend the previous work of Battocchio and Menoncin (2004) that allowed the state variables (i.e., the risks from the financial market) and a set of stochastic processes to describe the inflation, labor income and expense uncertainties. A five-fund separation theorem is derived to characterize the optimal investment strategy for DC pension plans to hedge the labor income and the inflation risks. Second, by solving the Hamiltonian equation in the three-asset framework, we show that the optimal portfolio consists of five components: the myopic market portfolio, the hedge portfolio for the state variables, the hedge portfolio for the inflation risk, the hedge portfolio for the labor income uncertainty and the riskless asset. Then we explicitly solve the optimal portfolio problem. Finally, the numerical results indicate that the inflation hedge portfolio comprises the overwhelming proportion of stock holdings in the optimal portfolios. In addition, the inflation hedge portfolio and the state variable hedge portfolio constitute the overwhelming proportions of bond holdings.

This thesis deals with the reward system in educational institutions. The theoretical part is focused on the reward system of employees. Then it describes how to perform a successful employee evaluation and how to avoid mistakes that can come during the evaluation. Other part mentions forms of remuneration, motivation, and what is the role of wage in employees motivation. The theoretical part is completed with topic of educational institutions. The practical part is based on qualitative research, which is done in private elementary art school in Čecké Budějovice (První soukromá základní umělecká škola s.r.o. v Českých Budějovicích) and in the centre of ecological and global education Cassiopeia. For my research I used the analysis of provided manuals for staff remuneration and semi-structured interview. I surveyed the informations about evaluation of employees, if they are the basis for the subsequent remuneration in specific organizations.I created improvement proposal of evaluation, remuneration and motivation based on comparison of the discovered informations.

The purpose of this degree project is to study a work evaluation project in a municipality, on the basis of key participants. The municipality is the employer, per-forming the workplace project and the chief objective is to reach gender equality between the employees. Equal pay for equal work. Through work evaluation is it pos-sible to find out which of a lot of different jobs, which have equal requirements. The jobs, which have equal requirements, should have equal pay. According to Swedish law, all employers need to analyse and survey their salary/wage distribution, to identify and remedy sexual discrimination concerning that area. One way to do that is to do a work evaluation and to study the result. Studying the result was what the municipality was doing, when got in contact with it. My focus is to find out what the central issues, problems and hinders are, or can occur when an employer is trying to follow the law. This study is based on qualitative research. The empirical material (interviews and ob-servations) from key participants, who took part in the project in the municipality, is presented through excerpts. They speak about different problems and other aspects they have experienced during the work process with the result from the evaluation project. The material is then analysed in the light of different theories. The theories treat areas as gender and organisation. For example is not al of the involved unions of the same opinion about the project. Money is one aspect that the key persons talk about and the circumstances around how to reach the goals of the project is another subject. The result of the study has shown that it could be useful within the project to have greater concern about the system of gender and to stronger point out the gains of ex-tended gender equality. Thou a lot of money are needed if equal pay for equal work should be reached, the gain in efficiency from the employed might compensate that.
