Andersson, Fredrik January 2019 (has links)

Nilsson, Jenny, Ullerud, Wilma January 2019 (has links)

Hellström, Louise, Grundin, Marina January 2019 (has links)
The preschool teaching profession has the responsibility of striving for the objectives of the curriculum that emphasise the importance of children in pre-school receiving guidance and stimulation in order to increase their skills, as well as the possibility of developing new insights and knowledge. By encouraging and taking on the interests of every child in the world of languages, language development is stimulated, which is something that the preschool should attach great importance to (Skolverket, 2016). The purpose of this study is to look at the different ways in which preschool teachers think and work inclusively to promote children's language in connection with high reading, which we investigate with the help of interviews. In total, six preschool teachers from three different pre-schools have participated in the study. Previous studies show that aloud reading has a positive effect when it comes to developing child language skills and that the preschool teachers working methods have a crucial role in how the development will look. The results show that all preschool teachers have a well-founded idea of what aloud reading means for childrens learning and development, and how they want the teaching to look like. Despite this, we can see that the moment for aloud reading usually happens spontaneously and is therefore not seen as a planned activity.

Managing Conflicts in Relationships and Networks : A case study of IT-Firms in Nigeria and Uganda

Alade, Kudirat Toyin January 2019 (has links)
ABSTRACT Title: Managing Conflicts in Relationships and Networks. A case study of IT-firms in Nigeria and Uganda. Level: Master thesis in Business administration. Author: Kudirat Toyin Alade. Supervisor: Dr. Sarah Philipson. Examiner: Dr. Maria Fregidou-Malama. Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate on how the information technology (IT) firms in Nigeria and Uganda manage conflicts, to understand how conflicts among employees can be minimized with the help of managerial training, and to also understand how improved performance of their employees can influence the network performance. Method: This study uses a qualitative method, the data was collected through interviews with top employees from AfriLabs (Nigeria), Hive Colab (Uganda), and Wennovation Hub (Nigeria). The interviews were conducted through Skype, respondents were selected using purposive sampling technique. The analysis was done with the help of a grounded theory. Result & Conclusions: The findings from this study are that Managerial training can help minimize conflicts among employees, if the training is been administered properly. Conflicts among organizations in business relationships and networks are properly managed through negotiations, and by signing a valid contract with their members with whom they have formed relationships and networks. The study also reveals that, when employees put in too much effort in accomplishing a task, or too few or too many employees are chosen for task, this will affect the network performance. Suggestions for future research: Future studies should delve more on managerial training to minimize issues of conflicts, as there are few established theories on this. It may be interesting to use different countries in Africa, to test the results of this study. Contribution: This study provides business managers with strategies to minimize issues of conflicts among employees. It also provides ways in which they can manage conflicts in organizational relationships and networks.   Keywords: Business Relationships, Business Networks, Conflicts, Managerial training,  Performance.

Investigating tourist flows from South Africa to the United Kingdom. Has the visa regime caused the decline, or are there other factors ? (A qualitative study)

Philpot, Lorne January 2019 (has links)
This study examined the causes of declining tourist flows. The aim was to establish the effect of visa restrictions on South African nationals travelling to the United Kingdom. In addition, it was sought to determine if other factors influenced the decline in South Africans nationals visiting the United Kingdom. Qualitative interviews were conducted with travel agency personnel, to gain an understanding of travel patterns and market trends (over a number of years) for South African nationals visiting the United Kingdom. A survey was conducted with South African nationals who qualified as potential travellers to the United Kingdom. The survey was a quantitative means to evaluate information gathered from the qualitative interviews. It also served as a means of triangulation. Responses from survey respondents confirmed findings gathered from qualitative interviews, while also indicating the relevance of the visa restriction being the most significant deterrent for South Africans when deciding to visit the United Kingdom. In light of these findings, it is suggested that the United Kingdom simplify the visa application process and reduce the visa cost, by extending the validity of the standard visa, in order to reduce the resentment and negative feelings South African nationals towards the United Kingdom visa requirement.

The potential role of the arts in generating socail capital that supports refugee local integration in Nakivale refugee settlement.

Keith Mark, Nyende January 2019 (has links)
As one of its “durable solutions” to the protracted nature of refugee issues, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) promotes “local integration” of refugees in their host communities or countries. Both academic and policy debate, in conceptualizing local integration, acknowledge that it is a complex process characterized by legal, economic, social and cultural dimensions. There also appears an agreement that a successful local integration process is heavily reliant on relationships between refugees and the host community. Therefore, for local integration to achieve its intended purpose, it is important to devise means of stimulating contact and interaction between refugees and members of the host community. This thesis explores ways in which the arts can contribute to local integration in the context of refugee settlements. Through an abductive methodological approach, the thesis uses theorization around social capital and local integration, linking it with the arts to develop an analytical framework to study the potential impact of the arts in local integration processes. The framework suggests relevant characteristics of artistic activity with potential to generate social capital that can support refugee local integration.  The framework is also used to guide data collection. Data is generated from an artistic project, Speak Open the Conversation, that took place in Nakivale refugee settlement in Uganda. The thesis suggests that engagement in artistic activity among refugees and between refugees and their hosts has potential to generate different kinds of social capital that can support refugee local integration.
