Karam, Nehman January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to conduct an analysis of the graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman. The analysis is focused on the form of the graphical novel, the history that is conveyed and how that history is conveyed. I will present a series of previous studies made around comics, their form, and use in school. The questions in my analysis are based on these earlier studies. The history that is communicated in Maus is then compared with a developed textbook for high school students. This is to investigate what potential didactic function a graphic novel can have in teaching history for high school students. My three main questions in this study examines what history of the Holocaust is conveyed in the graphical novel Maus and how is that history conveyed? What history of the holocaust is conveyed in Perspektiv på historien, a traditional textbook for high school, students, and how is that history conveyed? Finally, I will use the results of these two questions to answer the final question. What potential didactic function Maus can have in teaching history for high school students? My results are then discussed with regard to previous studies that I’ve previously presented. My results show that the story that is presented in Maus is largely the same as the one that is conveyed in Perspektiv på historien. The essential difference between these two materials for teaching lies in the form, but primarily the perspective. By allowing students to share the individual story, the microperspective of Maus, they can get a complementary individual perspective to the otherwise wide-ranging story presented in Perspektiv på historien. The form also allows a class to discuss questions about the holocaust, such as morality, ethics etc., The individual perspective and the form of the graphic novel opens up a classroom climate, where all students can feel that they are included.

Egelström, Christian January 2018 (has links)

Modelamiento hidrológico de caudales medios mensuales en cuencas sin información hidrométrica aplicando el método Lutz Scholz y las redes neuronales artificiales, en la microcuenca Huajuiri - Oropesa - Antabamba - Apurímac / Hydrological modeling of monthly average flows in basins without hydrometric information applying Lutz Scholz method and artificial neural networks, in Huajuiri micro basin - Oropesa - Antabamba - Apurímac

Zárate Torres, Cynthia 30 December 2020 (has links)
Central problem exposed in this thesis is lack of hydrometric information in some basins of Peru, in our case in Huajuiri micro basin, located in Oropesa district, Antabamba province, Apurímac department, there is a deficit of hydrometric stations with respect to the number of existing basins at national level, hydrometric information is insufficient and deficient, which results in not having data such as average monthly flows, relevant hydrological information to be able to know the water availability of basin in order to distribute water according to requirements of rural communities surrounding the water source, it is useful to design future hydraulic construction, as well as to carry out projections regarding the water behavior of basin. It is for this reason that calculation of average monthly flows in basins without information is proposed using Lutz Scholz method and artificial neural networks. In basin with hydrometric information (La Angostura), with proposed hydrological modeling, values were obtained close to average monthly flows. However, in basin without hydrometric information (Huajuiri), inclusion in hydrological modeling of artificial neural networks allowed obtaining values closer to flow measurement, than only by applying Lutz Scholz method. / Tesis

The Representation of Terrorism as Defective Communication in Volker Schlöndorff’s Die Stille nach dem Schuss, Gregor Schnitzler’s Was tun wenn’s brennt, Leander Scholz’s Rosenfest and Ulrike Edschmid’s Frau mit Waffe: Zwei Geschichten aus terroristischen Zeiten

Dillon, Sandra I. 12 1900 (has links)
ix, 213 p. / The attacks on the United States of September 11, 2001, prompted scholars in a variety of fields, such as history, philosophy and literature, to re-examine the topic of terrorism, including the emergence of terrorism in West Germany in the 1960s and 1970s. The challenges that arise when dealing with the topic of terrorism derive in part from a lack of consensus on a definition for terrorists and terrorist attacks. One element that I found in my research is that there is a connection between terrorism and communication. This dissertation examines that connection in Volker Schlöndorff's filmDie Stille nach dem Schuss Gregor Schnitzler's film Was tun wenn's brennt Leander Scholz's novel Rosenfestand Ulrike Edschmid's biographical narrativesFrau mit Waffe: Zwei Geschichten aus terroristischen Zeitenin the context of Speech Act Theory. The films and texts show how West German terrorism is represented as a form of communication, through which fictional terrorists are trying to accomplish the impossible statement "I hereby persuade you." The act of persuasion has an element of freedom, because one can either be persuaded or not. However, the terrorists represented in the works mentioned above want to eliminate the element of choice and force the interlocutor to be persuaded. In order to achieve this they introduce violence, which in turn causes them to be labeled as terrorists. The more they try to use violence to achieve their goals, the more they cement their condemnation as terrorists. This dissertation frames its investigation within ideas about performative speech acts, concepts of power, violence, identity and discussions about "terrorist" narratives in German literature and film. / Committee in charge: Susan C. Inscenování kritiky hodnot (a jejich disociace). Problémy radikální kritické teorie kapitalistického patriarchátu a jejího divadelního přenosu / Staging the "critique of value [-dissociation]": stakes of a radical critical theory of capitalist patriarchy and of its theatrical transmission

Hecht, Sylvan January 2022 (has links)
(English): In the face of the scandal arising from the persistence of numerous systems of oppression in our time, which ravage and enslave both human beings and other species, often in a cumulative manner: capitalist, patriarchal, racist-colonial, rationalist-ableist and anthropocentrist-productivist systems, the so-called "post-modern" theories fail as well to provide emancipatory analyses and ways out of these systems of domination as do the "traditional Marxist" and classical anarchist theories, because all these theories lack a radical critique of the basic categories of capitalism-patriarchy that only the "value-dissociation critique" offers (at least as far as we are aware of). Since the mid-1980s and with a feminist turn in 1992, first in Germany and then also in Brazil and many other countries, the philosophical current of the "critique of value-dissociation" has been working to rethink a critical theory of patriarchal capitalism based on a radical overcoming of the whole "traditional Marxism". This is done by demonstrating the urgent need to deploy a critique of the basic categories of capitalism, namely work, value, money, commodities, fetishism, patriarchy, and the state; of these categories themselves, and not simply of their phenomenal forms. But how can a critical theory of such power...
