Next generation heterogeneous wireless networks are expected to interwork with Internet Protocol (IP)-based infrastructures. Conventional network services operate like silos in that a specific set of services are offered over a specific type of access network. As access networks evolve to provide IP-based packet access, it becomes attractive to break these “service silos” by offering a converged set of IP-based services to users who may access these services using a number of alternative access networks. This trend has started with third generation cellular mobile networks, which have standardized on the use of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) to manage user access to a wide variety of multimedia services over the mobile Internet, while facilitating interworking of heterogeneous wireless and landline access networks. The future users of communication systems will subscribe to both IP-based and Circuit Switched (CS) based services and in the foreseeable future a single database that handles user profiles across all domains will be required. Home Subscriber Server (HSS) as an evolved version of Home Location Register (HLR) is one of the key components of IMS. In deploying HSS as a central repository database, in a fully overlapped heterogeneous network setting, changes of access mode are very frequent and conveying this information to HSS imposes excessive signaling load and delay. In our proposed scheme we introduce an Interface Agent (IA) for each location area that caches the location and information about the access mode through which a user can be reached. This method results in significant amount of savings in signaling cost and better delay performance. The existing call delivery approaches in cellular networks may not be well suited for future communication systems because they suffer from unnecessary usage of network resources for call attempts that may fail which adds to excessive signaling delays and queuing costs. Reducing the number of queries and retrievals from the database will have a significant impact on the network performance. We present a new scheme based on Reverse Virtual Call setup (RVC) as a solution to the call delivery problem in heterogeneous wireless networks and evaluate the performance of this framework.

Analysis of already created heat metering and billing systems are made. Lacks and advantages of existing systems are overlooked and considered for add-on model development. Heat metering and billing functions are described and solution is presented. MS Navision and MS SQL Server technologies usability aspects where analyzed. The functionality of MS Navision where compared with described heat metering and billing functions and the fit-gap where made. Product was built as a specific add-on module for MS Navision Attain. The most important goals of product where heat energy billing integration with financial management and flexible data model for program adaptation to methodology changes of heat energy billing. Data model flexibility analysis where done and compatibility to requirements was established. MS Navision and MS SQL server functions performance testes where run and recommendations for choosing platform are made.

Information technologies and mobile telecommunications rapidly enter our personal and social life. Mobile phone is no longer luxury – it has become a necessity. Growing volumes of the mobile services has caused a need to expand the mobile service employment opportunities in the Internet portals. Today’s portals, created using the means, offered by software manufacturers, employ exclusively the mobile Internet service, thanks to which the users can see and manage the necessary information and process of the portal at any time and from anywhere. The problem is related with the fact that mobile Internet services are still expensive in Lithuania. Therefore one should look for cheaper ways to reach and manage portal information. In order to solve this problem one can consider the SMS and MMS message sending, suggested by mobile technologies. Basic aim of the work is to create an entertainment portal, rendering the user both various Internet entertainments (e.g. Internet acquaintances, games), and mobile entertainment (e.g. sending messages, logos, melodies, animations and games for mobile phone) as well as a wide range of mobile services to be used to obtain and to manage the portal information. <p>Rapporten avser att undersöka vilka olika lösningar det finns att tillgå då Windows Vista skall rullas ut till ett antal klientdatorer. Information om de olika produkterna presenteras samt praktiska laborationer med resultat. Slutligen görs en bedömning av vilken produkt eller lösning som lämpar sig bäst för ett litet företag med få klienter respektive ett stort företag med många klienter. Slutsatsen innehåller våra rekommendationer för hur utrullningen bör ske. Arbetet resulterade i att vi kunde utefter våra laborationer fatta beslutet att Ghost Solution Suite passar bäst för ett mindre företag medan Microsofts lösningar lämpar sig mer när företagen kommer upp i många klienter. Detta grundas främst på priset för produkterna samt hur svåra de är att använda men även hur mycket tid som sparas per installation.</p>

Ο στόχος της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι ο έλεγχος και αποκατάσταση της θερμοκρασίας και της υγρασίας από απόσταση σε ένα χώρο ο οποίος απαιτεί συγκεκριμένες τιμές των δύο παραπάνω μεγεθών. Ένας τέτοιος χώρος μπορεί να είναι μια αίθουσα χειρουργείου ή μια μονάδα εντατικής θεραπείας. Ανάλογα με τις επιθυμητές θερμοκρασίες που έχουν τεθεί, ενεργοποιούνται οι βάνες του θερμαντικού ή του ψυκτικού στοιχείου. Όταν η υγρασία του χώρου είναι κατώτερη της επιθυμητής, ενεργοποιείται η τρίοδος βάνα ατμού. Όταν η υγρασία του χώρου είναι υψηλότερη της επιθυμητής ενεργοποιείται η τρίοδος βάνα του ψυκτικού στοιχείου για επιπλέον ψύξη (αφύγρανση) και παράλληλα, αν χρειαστεί ενεργοποιεί και την τρίοδο βάνα του θερμαντικού στοιχείου για να διατηρήσει τη θερμοκρασία του χώρου στα επιθυμητά επίπεδα. Όλα αυτά υλοποιούνται με τη βοήθεια του PLC S7 300 όσο αφορά το λειτουργικό μέρος, της μονάδας CP 343-1 Lean για την επικοινωνία της εγκατάστασης από απόσταση μέσω ethernet, το LabVIEW 9.0 για την υλοποίηση του SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) και τέλος ο OPC SERVER της National instrument για την επικοινωνία του PLC S7 300 με το LabVIEW 9.0. / The scope of this thesis is the control and restoration of temperature and humidity from distance in environments which demand precise values of these two measurements. Such an environment can be an Operating Room or an Intensive Care Unit. The valves of the heating or the cooling element are activated according to the desired temperature. When room humidity is below the desired one, the dew three-port valve is activated. On the other hand when humidity is above the desired level the three-port valve of the cooling element is activated for further cooling (dehydration) and at the same time, if needed, it activates the three-port valve of the heating element to maintain the room temperature at the desired level. This is possible with the use of PLC S7 300, when it comes to the functional part, the CP 343-1 Lean unit for the distant communication of the installation through the use of Ethernet, the LabVIEW 9.0 for the implementation of the SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and the OPC SERVER of the National Instrument for the communication of the PLC S7 300 with LabVIEW 9.0.
