Preliminary study of a frame for a two module turbine system

Lundberg, Anders, Jansson, Tobias January 2011 (has links)
The development of steam turbines is continuously moving forward and the aim is oftento develop configurations with higher power output. Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB is currently in the beginning of a development project which replaces a single turbine with two interconnected turbines with higher pressure and temperature of the steam than before. To ensure reliable quality and hold down costs is it an advantage to do most of the assembly before delivery to site. This thesis work at Linköping University has been written in collaboration with Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB, Finspång. The objective of this work is to investigate the possibility to mount two turbines and a gearbox on a turbine frame. Theframe will be used both for transportation and during operation. The thesis considerate analyses of the turbine layout and critical parameters that may affect a turbine frame. In addition was a frame concept developed and evaluated with respect to solid mechanics and alignment of the shaft arrangement. Our conclusion is that there are good possibilities to install the equipment on a frame and achieve demands due to solid mechanics and alignment of the shaft arrangement. We recommend Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB to carry on with the project and do further investigations of the natural frequency of the frame concept, compare financial advantages and disadvantages together with possibilities for transportation.

Demonstrationsutrustning för M2M tillämpning / Equipment for demonstration of M2M application

Karlsson, Patrik January 2004 (has links)
The goal with this master thesis is to develop a simple equipment to show the advantage of using M2M-technic when collect measured data and when using automatic monitoring of alarm and sensors. The thesis is divided in two parts, a practical part that corresponds to a case with sensors and equipment. The case is used to collect measure data to be used when demonstrating the theoretical part, which corresponds to the software program. The software program is developed to measure voltage with the data acquisition card, and then send them as a SMS text message via the GSM network. For this tasks the software also have to control the GSM-modem. This text message is either sent to a computer for logging in a database, or to the service department who owns the equipment measured. This work has ended up in well function software that can be installed on a PC-system with a Windows 2000(tm) operation system. The accuracy on the measured data is good enough for the task to demonstrate the function of the M2M-technic. The text message is also arrive to the receiver as expected. The result of this master thesis ends up giving the company M2M Communication AB the possibility to demonstrate the M2M-technic on a simple and explaining manner for a potential customer. Integrated in the new equipment the company also has been given a possibility to test new sensors and signal sources in a real world M2M test.

Modelling and simulation of a gas turbine

Klang, Henrik, Lindholm, Andreas January 2005 (has links)
In this thesis, a gas turbine simulator for the Siemens GT10C was developed and implemented. It concerns everything from the theory behind the simulator; both the hard- ware and software involved, to how the actual simulator was built using these tools. The theory concerns itself with basic automatic control concepts, as well as basic turbine theory. The simulator setup is being discussed concerning both technical and eco- nomic issues. A robust hardware solution is then selected, using the basic re- quirements, which the simulator then is built around. The tools used are the Siemens SIMATIC automatic control system and the Siemens SIMIT real-time simulator using a SIMBA Pro PCI card to interface with the PLC:s in the SIMATIC system. Matlab are also used to a lesser extent to build the simulator behavior in SIMIT. In the end, a fully featured simulator is presented that can be used for various purposes such as training operators, trying out new concepts and testing the automatic control system used to control the turbine. Further development that could be done, by other engineers, in the future, is also discussed.

Many recent cases draw attention to this topic, but one in particular, the case of corruption of the company Siemens AG, that resulted in the payment of the largest fines in the history on your model, based on the terms of the FCPA since it became law in 1977. This event caters specifically to the objective of this work which is to make an analysis based on agency theory and the codes of good practices of corporate governance on how large companies revising their corporate management systems and practices aiming at the recovery of its institutional image after significant impact on the company, such as the corruption scandal in which Siemens was involved. For this study, we opted for qualitative research as a methodological path contemplating the single case study. In the process of data collection were used data obtained through documentary research about the corruption scandal on public collection available in the internet. Open conversations were made with 3 compliance Department officials of Siemens for the purposes of understanding the case with. At the end of this work, it was observed in the Siemens turnaround process a correlation between what was proposed by the Agency Theory about internal control Systems based on what was accomplished by the company when promoted an extensive restructuring of the Department of compliance and corporate governance system, the improvement of internal controls, as well as the creation of detection tools , control, analysis and prevention of fraud, which were used to minimize the effects generated by the conflict of interest covered by the theory of Agency.

Bajric, Amina January 2018 (has links)
The approach of this validation study is to evaluate the adequacy for transferring the manual analysis method of ongoing infection of Varicella Zoster Virus (aVZV IgM) and Herpes Simplex Virus (aHSV IgM) with SIEMENS Enzygnost® to one of the automated instruments EUROIMMUN Analyzer I (ELISA) or DiaSorin LIAISON® XL. The study was carried out at Clinical Microbiology in Lund. Consecutive serum samples for VZV IgM (n=108) and HSV IgM (n=116) from the daily local flow of tests were analyzed, along with 10 positive for primary infection of VZV and HSV, confirmed by PCR or seroconversion, and 10 with reactivated infection of VZV and HSV. Beyond those, 10 serum samples confirmed positive for Cytomegalovirus (CMV) respectively 10 for Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) to test the cross-reaction between the three methods. The results from the validation of VZV in Analyzer I and LIAISON® XL gave an agreement of 93% and 94% respectively in the consecutive tests, 71% and 86% respectively in the primary infected tests and 75% and 58% respectively in the reactivated tests, and also a cross-reactivity (both positive and in between-values) at a total of 33% respectively 20% of the tests. The results from the validation of HSV in Analyzer I and LIAISON® XL gave an agreement of 84% and 87% respectively in the consecutive tests, 82% and 18% respectively in the primary infected tests and 40% and 10% respectively in the reactivated tests, and also a cross-reactivity (both positive and in between-values) at a total of 67% respectively 47% of the tests. According recommendations after the performance of this study, the analysis of HSV IgM should be excluded from both of the automated methods while VZV IgM should be controlled further in Analyzer I, with hopes that this new method could be more sensitive.

Zum Anteil von Dr. Wilhelm André am deutschen Reichspatentgesetz

Naumann, Friedrich 05 October 2011 (has links)
In Anerkennung dieser Leistungen urteilte das amerikanische Journal of the Patent Office Society: „It can not be gainsaid that the German patent system was the finest in the world.“ / The jurist André Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm (1827 - 1903), born in Quakenbrück (Münsterland) and from 1874 to 1896 Lord Mayor of the industrial city of Chemnitz, Saxony, played a major role in the creation of the Patent Law of the German Reich. In collaboration with Werner Siemens and supported by a special committee of the VDI at first he drew up a "Draft Patent Law for the German Reich". It regulated the subject of patent protection and the granting procedure, the tasks of the patent office (Patent Office and the Reich Chief Commercial Court) and possible litigation. The presentation of this draft at the Vienna World Exhibition Conference (1873) under the chairmanship of Dr. Charles William Siemens, one of the Siemens brothers, promoted the upcoming national and international understanding of patent protection. The German Patent Protection Association was founded in May 1874. It was followed by the enactment of the Trademark Act and the Design Protection Act (1876). In 1876 the Association published a draft of a German patent law. After the regional governments had given their consent, there were royal approvals and the approval of the Bundesrat and the Reichstag. The law was announced on 25th of May 1877. On 1st July 1877 the comprehensive piece of legislation with 45 paragraphs came into force. From then onwards Andre was also involved in matters regarding the patent system and its legislation, undertook scientific studies and provided legal clarification and completion. On 7th of April 1891 a new patent law was adopted. In recognition of this achievment the Journal of the American Patent Society Office acclaimed: "It can not be gainsaid that the German patent system was the finest in the world."

Computational Fluid Dynamics Unstructured Mesh Optimization for the Siemens 4th Generation DLE Burner

Koren, Dejan January 2015 (has links)
Every computational fluid dynamics engineer deals with a never ending story – limitedcomputer resources. In computational fluid dynamics there is practically never enoughcomputer power. Limited computer resources lead to long calculation times which result inhigh costs and one of the main reasons is that large quantity of elements are needed in acomputational mesh in order to obtain accurate and reliable results.Although there exist established meshing approaches for the Siemens 4th generation DLEburner, mesh dependency has not been fully evaluated yet. The main goal of this work istherefore to better optimize accuracy versus cell count for this particular burner intended forsimulation of air/gas mixing where eddy-viscosity based turbulence models are employed.Ansys Fluent solver was used for all simulations in this work. For time effectivisationpurposes a 30° sector model of the burner was created and validated for the meshconvergence study. No steady state solutions were found for this case therefore timedependent simulations with time statistics sampling were employed. The mesh convergencestudy has shown that a coarse computational mesh in air casing of the burner does not affectflow conditions downstream where air/gas mixing process is taking place and that a majorpart of the combustion chamber is highly mesh independent. A large reduction of cell count inthose two parts is therefore allowed. On the other hand the RPL (Rich Pilot Lean) and thepilot burner turned out to be highly mesh density dependent. The RPL and the Pilot burnerneed to have significantly more refined mesh as it has been used so far with the establishedmeshing approaches. The mesh optimization has finally shown that at least as accurate resultsof air/gas mixing results may be obtained with 3x smaller cell count. Furthermore it has beenshown that significantly more accurate results may be obtained with 60% smaller cell count aswith the established meshing approaches.A short mesh study of the Siemens 3rd generation DLE burner in ignition stage of operationwas also performed in this work. This brief study has shown that the established meshingapproach for air/gas mixing purposes is sufficient for use with Ansys Fluent solver whilecertain differences were discovered when comparing the results obtained with Ansys Fluentagainst those obtained with Ansys CFX solver. Differences between Fluent and CFX solverwere briefly discussed in this work as identical simulation set up in both solvers producedslightly different results. Furthermore the obtained results suggest that Fluent solver is lessmesh dependent as CFX solver for this particular case.
