Modelování a optimalizace procesů na operační úrovni / Modelling and Optimization of Processes at an Operational Level

Cerman, Tomáš January 2011 (has links)
Theses is devided into two parts, the first one is dealing with theory the other one with practical exercise. There is basic terminology set in the first part, focusing mainly on process management and methodologies leading the current evolution in that respect, Lean and Six Sigma. I also refer about tools for mapping the processes and devote a section to theory of queues which is a main subject for modelling in the practical part. I have not omitted to mention axioms for modeling itself. Practical part comes from job experience I had. Main goal is to set up a model simulation based on the main features of the process structure, involve main principles of mentioned methodologies and to discuss the results simulation brings.

Responding to Child Sexual Abuse: Exploring the Case Files of Children Under the Age of 6 Admitted to a Children’s Advocacy Center for Evaluation

Glassner, Steven 08 1900 (has links)
Research suggests that roughly 25% of women and 10% of men within the United States were sexually abused at some point during childhood. With such high rates of victimization affecting society, the current study explores a population of children under the age of 6 who were suspected of being sexually victimized and thus admitted to a children’s advocacy center (CAC) for evaluation. This investigation contributes to the literature concerning child sexual abuse (CSA) by exploring the characteristics of these alleged victims, the characteristics of their suspected offenders, the alleged victim’s familial demographics characteristics, and by looking at the data pertaining to the incarceration rates of the suspected offenders identified within the sample.

Uma abordagem dos seis sigmas na análise de posto de produção em uma indústria do setor automotivo

Magnun Phillippe de Jesus 01 December 2012 (has links)
Within the context of the search for the perfect product and process, this paper presents an analysis of Six Sigma in a job post, with the DMAIC methodology, in a company in the automotive sector. The study was developed in the post regulator handbrake of a light vehicle automotive company, which it is an item of legislation in accordance with Resolution of the National Department of Transit. The company saw itself up over 30% of defects in less than ten days of production. In this scenario, it was decided to carry out an improvement project with a Six Sigma approach in regulating and control equipment (bank roll) due to the results of current defects exceed the number of defects in the entire previous year. The option for the use of Six Sigma methodology in the search for solution to the problem was a strategic decision by senior management of the organization, in order to solve this (chronic) problem since other quality programs developed at the company didnt have the same success in other case studies, aiming thereby reducing the defects from the effective application of this tool. The goal was to show a case study of the application of Six Sigma methodology for eliminating defects in setting up the handbrake, generated in the process of automatic regulation, eliminating rework by tassagem method of manual handbrake regulating system in the next post, through the following specific objectives: identifying the problem and the benefits of applying Six Sigma in the company, and the improvement in operating results. During the development process as a whole, satisfactory results were obtained in relation to the amount of gear teeth to be controlled, specification of maximum torque and reduced cost of rework in almost a hundred and twenty thousand reais per month, in addition to reducing in twenty-four times the number of customers complaints. Through the work of inspection on all vehicles produced, could guarantee the results initially planned for the project.

Genus Six Curves, K3 Surfaces, and Stable Pairs:

Goluboff, Justin Ross January 2020 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Maksym Fedorchuk / A general smooth curve of genus six lies on a quintic del Pezzo surface. In [AK11], Artebani and Kondō construct a birational period map for genus six curves by taking ramified double covers of del Pezzo surfaces. The map is not defined for special genus six curves. In this dissertation, we construct a smooth Deligne-Mumford stack P₀ parametrizing certain stable surface-curve pairs which essentially resolves this map. Moreover, we give an explicit description of pairs in P₀ containing special curves. / Thesis (PhD) — Boston College, 2020. / Submitted to: Boston College. "Between the Staves" - Adaptations of Debussy's Six épigraphes antiques and Creative Tasks of the Performer

Astilla, Christopher 12 1900 (has links)
The Six épigraphes antiques represent a cross-section of Debussy's creative output that traces the composer's germ-seed from his original setting of the work in 1901 as incidental music to accompany the recitation of several poems, to the four-hand piano version of 1914, and its consequent reduction for solo piano. What can be gleaned by the methods of derivation from his original sketches to the final, mature works is an understanding of Debussy's use of musical metaphor and his connection to the poetry - the Chansons de Bilitis of Pierre Louÿs. Embedded literary procedures create a new musical expression of the work whereby text and music become integrated. Rather than serving as accompaniment to the poems, the Épigraphes function as the primary vessel for the conveyance of these ancient scenes. Several of Debussy's hallmark symmetrical and structural moulds, such as the whole-tone, chromatic, octatonic, and mirroring techniques reflect the omnipresent symmetry of Classical Greece. Various other artistic creations emanated from the Épigraphes, most significantly the orchestration of Ernest Ansermet in 1939. A look at the techniques used by Ansermet for the augmentation of the piano work serves to extrapolate the multifarious layers relevant in performance. In order to facilitate the four-hand version for solo piano, Debussy used a variety of reductive methods. There are, however, means by which some of the extracted material might be restored to the solo version. Like the late work of many great masters, the Épigraphes are redolent of the tendency so many artists have near the end of their days - to revert back to the purest techniques of their language. The scoring of Debussy's Épigraphes is scaled back, compared to his Préludes (often consisting of three staves of notation), and incorporates leaner textures generated from lapidary motifs which transmit the antique realms evoked by the poetry of Louÿs.

Israel's Best Offense is a Good Defense : Assessing defensive realism as applied to the Six-Day-War and the Israeli-Arab peace treaties / Israels Bästa Offensiv är en Bra Defensiv : Applicering av defensiv realism på Sex-Dagars Kriget och de Israeli-Arabiska fredsavtalen

Brännlund, Alexander January 2021 (has links)
In the form of a theory testing case study based upon the seminal works of Kenneth Waltz and Stephen Walt, this thesis seeks to uncover whether defensive realism can be applied with focus on Israeli international conduct. This is defined by their wartime actions as well as their peacekeeping efforts. The paper analyses two major historical events; namely the six-day-war and the recent Israeli-Arab peace treaties. Thereafter it delves into the preexisting conditions of each combattant in the war, then reviews the events unfolding during the conflict in the first part of the analysis, followed by the second part examining the contents of the Abraham Accords, as well as the official statements of Bahrain and Sudan regarding peace with Israel.  Following this, the thesis examines the details and terms of the Abraham Accords and treaties between Israel, Bahrain and Sudan. A hypothesis is presented predicting that both tenets of defensive realism will be applicable to their respective parts of Israeli history. It is subsequently found that the first tenet of defensive realism has explanatory value with regards to the six-day-war, the second tenet of defensive realism that follows also proves to hold significant merit, and the thesis concludes that the given hypothesis therefore is correct. Both tenets of defensive realism are applicable to respective units of analysis on Israel, which therefore suggests that the theory of defensive realism offers a good framework for explaining the actions of the Israeli state.

The raison d'etre of the Muslim mission primary school in Cape Town and environs from 1860 to 1980 with special reference to the role of Dr A. Abdurahman in the modernisation of Islam-oriented schools

Ajam, Mogamed January 1986 (has links)
Philosophiae Doctor - PhD / This d~ssertation concerns the modernisation of Islam-oriented schooling in Cape Town and environs whereby Muslim Mission Primary Schools emerge as a socio-cultural compromise between community needs and State school provision policy. It proceeds from the recognition of the cultural diversity that has since the pioneering days characterised the social order of the Mother City. Two religious and cultural traditions have coexisted here in a superordinate and subordinate relationship; one developed a school system for domestication and cultural assimilation, and the other a covert instructional programme for an"alternative religious system and behaviour code. The thrust of the argument is that the Islamic community, developed on the periphery of society that excluded non-Christians, were in the main concerned with cultural transmission, first in the homes of Free Blacks during the Dutch regime, and later in the mosques that arose when religious freedom was obtained. Traditional schools for Islamic culture transmission were conducted by imams and tended to attract in large numbers the children of slaves and other non-white children causing concern among evangelists In 1863, a political understanding between the governments of Britain and Turkey resulted in Abu Bakr Effendi being assigned by the Sultan to conduct a school in Cape Town to effect some uniformity of Islamic instruction. A latent consequence of this Turkish funded school was the production of the first Afrikaans textbook on Islam, a step in the modernisation of cultural transmission. After Effendi's demise the school was discontinued. State education policy ensured that non-white children generally were educated only at State-funded Christian Mission schools. Most Muslim children received only Islamic instruction at the various madressahs (traditional schools) as a result. An increasingly rigid segregation of public schools oriented towards reproducing the superordinate-subordinate culture relationship resulted in a widening gap of literacy which was increasingly important for the economic and political dispensation. Concerned Muslims organised themselves to address the educational deficiency. The South African Moslem Association urged mOre educational opportunity but floundered before accomplishing anything noteworthy. Their importance lay in their making the Muslims more aware of the need to have a secular education in a changing social order. It was self-evident that education had to be seen in the political context: the weaker community was most likely to suffer the greatest lack of schools. Dr A. Abdurahman, foremost political figure of the first forty years of this century, took the first steps in establishing State-aided primary schools for Muslim children. Whatever success he had in this regard was entirely due to his personali ty and political acumen. In contrast to Abdurahman was the philanthropic effort of Hajee Sullaiman Shah Mohamed to build a school with an Islamic ethos. Why he failed is considered against the social historical background of the Cape Muslims and the communities' manifest needs. Politically, Abdurahman was in a better position and better equipped to address the problem. He served as manager of three Muslim primary schools, the development of which form a substantial part of this study. Abdurahman could harness the creative energies and resources of immigrant and indigenous Muslims in creating these schools. But the Cape Malay Association, disenchanted with Abdurahman's perceived partisanship, politically sought to advance Malay communal interests in the political patronage of the Afrikaner political faction in power. In terms of schooling policy they were to be disillusioned.
