Aspectos tecnológicos da síntese de carbonato de glicerila e a avaliação de algumas de suas propriedades físico-químicas / Technological aspects of the synthesis of glyceryl carbonate and evaluation of some of its physicochemical properties

Araujo, Rossana Giudice Ribeiro de 21 September 2011 (has links)
In order to search for raw materials from cleaner and renewable sources, and the growing use of byproducts generated by these sources, has appeared the interest in studying the synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol obtained as a main byproduct in the manufacture of biodiesel. This compound was synthesized at the Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry. This surfactant is not available in Brazil and has interesting cosmetic properties, which, however, should be more exploited at present. In the study, carbonate was added to liquid soaps from the fatty acids from soybean oil and castor oil. Soaps produced had low alkalinity, thereby reducing the additions of chemicals that can be aggressive to the skin, as partial results showed. From the experimental design, the influence of temperature and reaction time of the synthesis of carbonate is investigated, as well as the type of catalyst used. Analysis of partial Raman vibrational spectroscopy, together with viscosity experiments showed that the optimal temperature for carboxylation is 140 °C, and the reaction time should be from 6 to 7 h, using magnesium sulphate as the catalyst. It also demonstrated the sensitivity of both techniques in identifying the peaks of the reactions of synthesis of glycerol carbonate. In comparison, foam tests were made of soaps added glycerol carbonate and sodium laurylsulfate. Overall, the addition of glycerol carbonate to soap provided the formation of denser and persistent foam. The use of hard water reduced the volume of foam formed for all samples. Comparing the two vegetable oils, soy and castor bean, it was noticed that soaps produced from castor oil had lower foaming. The addition of diethanolamine significantly reduced the stability of foams in all samples. Rheological studies demonstrated that the surfactant glycerol carbonate is neuwtonian fluid, behavior similar to that of pure glycerin.

Adolescents and Sex on the Soaps: A Content Analysis

Winter, Jenelle Gay 13 June 1996 (has links)
This study updates prior examinations of sexual content on daytime soap operas by investigating verbal references, implied sexual acts and mentions of sexually transmitted diseases. In addition, it extends earlier work by analyzing the commitment level and age of those involved in the sexual content. Finally, this study will attempt to obtain a clear picture of what adolescents perceive while viewing these shows. This was investigated by conducting adolescent and adult focus groups to see how they talk about soap operas. Also, comparisons were made of adult and adolescent coding of the sexual content on soap operas. All daytime soap operas were recorded twice per month for a six month period in 1995. From this sample, 36 hours of programming were coded for sexual content. For the adolescent and adult comparison studies, six adolescents and six adults from the Portland metropolitan area were selected to take part in focus groups and soap opera coding. Each of these subjects is a current soap opera viewer and all watched Days of Our Lives. The findings in this study do not support a social learning theory account, according to which the content of television programming provides a basis for undesirable effects. This study shows that soap operas provide both positive and negative depictions of sexual activity. It suggests that the age and/or background of the viewer has a more significant influence on what the viewer gets from the viewing experience.

Al Ghussein, Abdul Azim 01 January 2018 (has links)
This thesis is an exploration of hospitality, sharing and acclimation within a studio art practice as a means of fostering consideration of others. I employ a practice whereby I disrupt the typical gallery context, and through the production and dissemination of consumable items from the Middle East, I examine how resources can be used, valued, and shared to accommodate various and unspecified others and provide opportunities for crossing thresholds of guest and host relationships.

Metod för provtagning av svartlut och analys av såpa i svartlut / Method for sampling black liquor and analysis of soap in black liquor

Hjalmarson, Inger-Johanne January 2019 (has links)
In paper pulp production, many details can be optimized. For optimal separation of soap from black liquor, it is important to know the amount of soap in the black liquor. A project to produce a method for sampling black liquor and a method for measuring how much soap is present in black liquor by centrifugation was done at Södra Cell Mönsterås. Through centrifugation faster analysis can be done. It took a long time to develop a satisfactory sampling method, but with the help of careful checking of temperature and time, a method was achieved that worked at temperatures between 90 and 100°C, which were the temperatures that were most frequently found, but are higher than the optimum temperature for soap separation. The black liquor turned out to be inhomogeneous, so the project failed to obtain an optimal analysis method within the framework of this project. In the experiment, the centrifuge settings were optimized to 87°C, 2500 rpm and 10 minutes Further attempts could provide more optimal settings for the centrifuge and a substitute for black liquor could make a validation of the centrifuge possible.

Lindberg, Matthias January 2008 (has links)

Timelog system on Android OS

Rezaei, Mohammad Ali January 2013 (has links)
Usage of smart phones has become more common nowadays. Timelog system is a user friendly and web based application which systemizes the business of a company with the focus on time tracking. Following the Timelog system from small screen of smart phones is not user-friendly because the Timelog application and its features have not been designed to be accessed from these devices. The solution is creating a smart phone client for the Timelog system which can connect to the database of the system. An appropriate approach is to design a Web Service as an intermediate layer to communicate between the client side and the database. The result is a smart phone client that can be used by users of Timelog system to manage their business when they use their mobiles instead of personal computers. The Web Service can also be used for other smart phone platforms. As a result it can be considered as a generic protocol for the mobile-user of Timelog system.
