Silva, Tamara Raísa Bubanz January 2018 (has links)
This study aims to identify the dynamics of social actors related to the theme of medicinal plants in the context of the Northwest Region of Rio Grande do Sul. A empresa e o lugar na globalização: a \'responsabilidade social empresarial\' no território brasileiro / The enterprise and the place in the globalization: the \"corporate social responsibility\" in Brazilian territory

Pereira, Evelyn Andrea Arruda 24 April 2007 (has links)
In face of the modernization taking place in Brazilian territory in the last decades and the rethink of the State\'s functions with the deepen social-spacial unequalities specially after 80\'s, the companies started to have a new importance as mitigate agents of these problems using the, as called, social responsibility. This speech sets up an unseen psychosphere promoted by the foundations and institutes of the companies which multiplies in this period, as the certifications and the private standards turned to the new social aspect of the companies also do. We view, firstly, to do a periodisation that search the companies\' social acts\' basements and the valors that prescribed the relation between the company and the place it is installed. Nowadays, when searching how these actions occur territorially, we established three basics organizations: focused, punctual and diffuse actions. Each organization presupposes a specific combination of verticalities and horizontalities that aim to diferential relations between the place\'s dynamic and the companies\' actions. In this way, we attempted to demystify the corporate strategy through the manner in which it uses the territory.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Marisa de Vasconcelos.pdf: 1987627 bytes, checksum: 9f18bd4b1e028523429ce25056bd8296 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-02-20 / The present research aims at promoting a reflection on the application of the Calvinist Cosmovision for the Happy Child Social Project, and its protagonists in Vila Buenos Aires Presbyterian Church. This church belongs to São Paulo s Eastern Presbytery in São Paulo s capital, belonging to the Brazilian Presbyterian church council. Some taken actions were related to the proposed theme: the qualitative approach, the historical and comparative procedures, together with a descriptive and exploratory research, giving support to the study case in its analysis, interpretation and evaluation of the Happy Child Project. Therefore, in its first action we get acquainted with the Calvinist Cosmovision fundaments linked to social action and its application. The second action shows the relevance and viability of Social Projects for the Presbyterian churches in today s social context, as a social action practice for both the local church and society. The third action analyzes and evaluates both the collected data and reports in the Happy Child Case Study, through evaluation procedures suggested by the Social Projects Evaluation Manual, by Eduardo Marino, from the Ayrton Senna Institute. This way, it is pointed out that the Calvinist Cosmovision is anchored in the concept of creation, fall and redemption of man, pointing out to the church s wholly mission and social action, since man was made into God s image and resemblance, where the major objective is the glory of God manifested in everything and everyone. It is recognized the relevance and viability of Social Projects in Presbyterian churches as a way of legitimating the integral mission in the process of evangelization, as an expression of love to others and as manifestation of God s sovereign will in redeeming the fallen man in all areas of his life. It is highlighted that the pedagogical practice must guide and permeate all social projects in their making, implementation and operation, as well as all social and educative actions aiming at experience fields still left out in our society. Thus, by taking these actions, it is considered plausible and relevant the use of the Calvinist Cosmovision of Social Action for Social Projects and its protagonists in Vila Buenos Aires Presbyterian Church for today s social context.

The outcomes of evaluating developmental projects using sustainable livelihoods approach : the case studies of Masco tutoring project and Qedidlala community garden project.

Ramashala, Malose A. January 2007 (has links)
Evaluation is an important aspect of the project cycle. The evaluation results are used to determine new strategies of the programme as well as the future of the project. However, the problem is that most conventional evaluations are seen as external intervention because they often disregard the role project participants could play in the process of evaluation. Then there is sustainable livelihoods approach which is viewed as a holistic and participatory approach. Because the sustainable livelihoods approach is people-centred; is holistic; dynamic; builds on strengths; considers macro-micro links; and considers issue of sustainability, it could provide a framework with which evaluation could be conducted. The objective of this study was to find out the outcomes of using the sustainable livelihoods approach as a tool for evaluating developmental projects. The theoretical framework for evaluating projects was designed using sustainable livelihoods and evaluation literature. The framework was tested using two projects in the area of agriculture and rural education. The research process guide was also designed and guided the process of data collection. The study has shown that the sustainable livelihoods approach could be used to evaluate developmental projects. The opportunities and the challenges of evaluating developmental projects using the sustainable livelihoods approach in each step of evaluation process were discovered. Using SL framework to define evaluation programme revealed that projects could be viewed holistically though not covering everything. However, the volume of the data collected was large and required more time to analyse. The logical framework was useful in terms of planning the evaluation programme. On the downside, the logical framework was technical and required guidance from the researcher. Establishing success indicators required the participants to negotiate the yardstick for measuring. The participants could not select data gathering methods because 1) the participants had no knowledge of the participatory methods and 2) the methods already used were not appropriate for the data collected. Reliance on participatory methods alone affected the robustness of the evaluation data collected. Thorough planning and capacity building are critical in interpretation of evaluation results follow sustainable livelihoods approach guidelines. Further studies with more representative sample and with a longer time span are needed to refine the implementation of the evaluation of developmental projects using sustainable livelihoods approach. / Thesis (M.Sc.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2007.

The process of learning among working class residents in the Merebank/Wentworth area during their struggle against the effects of pollution.

Gounden, Sandra. January 2002 (has links)
This is a case study of people living in the Merebank/Wentworth area which is highly polluted. This area is sandwiched between the engine refinery SAPREF, Mondi paper mill, the Durban airport and other small industries. As such it is exposed to a mixture of gases in the atmosphere which is detrimental to the health of the residents. The residents have discovered that they cannot rely on government and authorities to bring relief to the situation and have thus made it a point to acquire 'really useful knowledge' in making industries accept accountability and "clean up their act." The study has confirmed that community organisations played a significant role in raising awareness of the pollution issue and mobilising people in social action which has resulted in the industries being pressurised to improve technology in refining crude oil. The study aimed to explore the kinds of learning that took place when the residents collectively participated in social action. Social interaction is a salient feature of learning. The case study is 'heuristic' in nature in that the community gives new meaning to their experience. A situated learning approach based on social learning theory is proposed as a theoretical framework for the study. Data for the inquiry into the participants group learning and social action consisted of taped interviews, participant observation and analysis of documents. / Thesis (M.Ed.)-University of Natal, Durban, 2002.

Community coordinated initiatives and domestic violence : a study of the high risk assessment review team in Bellville [sic], Ontario / Community coordinated initiatives and domestic violence :

Prime, Beth-Ann. January 2005 (has links)
The High Risk Assessment Review Team (HART) in Belleville, Ontario is a community coordinated initiative that reviews domestic violence cases before the criminal court. Record analysis was conducted on 60 case files that had gone through criminal court in that jurisdiction. The purpose was to determine if a sample of cases reviewed by HART (n=30) would yield a higher rate of conviction and increased contact with community agencies when compared to a sample of cases (n=30) prior to this team being implemented. A logistical regression yielded no statistically significant results but did demonstrate a higher rate and likelihood of conviction in the HART sample as well as a greater involvement and likelihood of involvement with community agencies.
