Orientador: Matteo Bonfitto Júnior / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Artes / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-26T19:13:30Z (GMT). Mapiko is the traditional cultural expression and the mask used on it. This expression brings together music, dance and scene. Surrounded by mystery and secrecy; to the sound of drums and traditional song, the masquerade holds his dance. The expression has its base on the imaginary of Maconde¿s people who appropriates the spiritual world, creating the belief of the existence of a logical link between the masquerade dancer and his beliefs. Trough art, Mapiko makes possible the representation of different ways of being in the spiritual life. It uses the power of its stories and its everyday aspects conveying in each dance its beliefs. The present work addresses the aspects of Mapiko such as its origins, tradition, songs, drumming, masks and particularities in the dance performed by the masquerade. The research also reflects on issues about the secrets, mystery and limits of the academic research about the theme. The dissertation begins with the description of the fieldwork in 2014 in Mozambique and explores its discoveries and difficulties. The work propose the reader to dive into Mapiko¿s universe, along with its mysteries, colours, aromas, images and flavours of Maconde¿s people. "Tindersluts" & "Tinderellas:" Examining Young Women's Construction and Negotiation of Modern Sexual Scripts within a Digital Hookup Culture

Christensen, MacKenzie A. 13 July 2018 (has links)
While a growing body of literature exists examining how intersecting social identities and structural organizations shape the on-campus hookup script, research examining the impact of technology on the hookup culture has been virtually nonexistent. Addressing this gap, this study adds to a current body of literature on the hookup culture and online dating by exploring how a diverse sample of young women and non-binary, femme individuals understand and negotiate interpersonal sexual scripts through the mobile dating app Tinder. Ultimately, findings from 25 in-depth interviews reveal how Tinder has shaped the sexual scripts of young adult dating into a "hybrid hookup script." Unlike the traditional college hookup culture, which centers the hookup script on fraternity parties, sexual dancing, and drinking, the hybrid hookup script reintroduces traditional dating practices, such as formal dates, into the modern sexual scripts of young adults. Specifically, the hybrid hookup script maintains the traditional gendered expectation that men initiate conversations and dates, while incorporating the patterns of drinking and the expectation of non-relational sex central to the on-campus hookup culture. Nearly all participants engaged in the hybrid hookup script to some extent; yet, women of color were overrepresented among those who eventually opted out of Tinder altogether. In particular, experiences of sexual and racial harassment created an environment in which women of color felt racially objectified and fetishized. As a result, the majority of women of color indicated that they deleted the app and did not intend to go back. Overall, results underscore how the Tinder app may be operating to rearticulate existing hierarchies of gender and race.

Drama used against the abuse of women : an investigation with adolescents.

Dlamini, Hloniphile Prudence. January 2001 (has links)
Women experience abuse from their partners. Adolescent relationship abuse is the main focus of this study. The research intends to create awareness about the abuse of women, research adolescent attitudes and beliefs, challenge cultural norms that oppress women, convey assertive communication as a way out of an abusive situation. Educational theatre, aimed at the mental empowerment of the target audience, should offer a self-discovery to the audience,· and therefore, lead to a change of belief and attitude. The target audience should gain experience from a fictional situation and be prepared for a possible real life situation. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2001.

A representação social do kanaimî, do piya'san e do tarenpokon nas Malocas Canta Galo e Maturuca

Manoel Gomes Rabelo Filho 30 March 2012 (has links)
Our study aims to understand the social representations of Kanaimî, the shaman and the people Tarenpokon Macuxi, in Canta's Galo and Maturuca's Villages, located in northeastern Roraima. Aimed to deepen the ideas that the Indians of these places have these characters on the culture in order to make their meaning and relate them to the religion. The initial research was literature in order to observe how the Kanaimî understood, and the shaman Tarenpokon in the past. We conduct interviews, which were used to support the verification of representations today, and analysis with reference to the theory of social representation. The Kanaimî, spiritual and starring as a character constant violent attacks, manifests and promotes terror to Indians. This causes the Indians to perform a series of rituals in order to keep them away from their paths. The shaman, as a trustee for many health and spiritual problems of the indigenous Macuxi, media to solve these problems together with the spiritual beings as possible. The Tarenpokon also as a healer capable of providing health, conducts prayer sessions that acts on the various "bichos" (bugs) to keep them or convince them to heal people. We relate these explanations to the cosmovision of the Macuxi to understand its religious manifestations. We have based historical studies and socio-anthropological aspects of the existing religious Macuxi that relate to the characters - Kanaimî, shaman and Tarenpokon - expanding their social representations and specifying the meanings they have

This present work is resulted by the reflection about the audiovisual experience acquired from using the dinner ritual as a dispositif. It passes through six dinner rituals that took place in São Paulo and Salvador, two of which being done in the street with homeless people. These two particular dinners opened the possibility to go through a more creative path, here drawn by the Entre ruas e calçadas project, or to get into other audiovisual territories with different settings and different uses of its imagetic grid. This text offers a glimpse of a creation having the incompleteness as a condition, the uncertainty as the only assurance. When the project began, there was just one thought: the dinner ritual. During its course: the sculpture of a creative strength that elaborates and re-elaborates itself while understands its intermediators; of its thematic ineffectiveness: the possibilities opened to fit the installation dispositif to other different settings and different audiovisual domains / Mestrado / Multimeios / Mestra em Multimeios

Adolescent dating relationships : sexual coercion and high risk sexual practices

Swart, Lu-Anne 30 November 2005 (has links)
This study investigated coercive and high risk sexual practices in South African adolescent dating relationships. Quantitative and qualitative information was collected from secondary school learners in a community near Johannesburg. Of 928 learners surveyed, 23.5% of females and 53.7% of males ever had sex. Of these, 57.8% of females and 44.2% of males reported sexual victimisation, and 46.8% of females and 50% of males reported perpetrating sexual coercion in a relationship. Significantly more males engaged in risky sex than females. Among females, sexual coercion was significantly linked to risky sexual behaviour. Among males, alcohol and perpetration of sexual coercion were significantly associated with risky sexual behaviour. Focus group data reveal how dominant constructions of gender normalise male coercion and contribute to risky sexual practices. Recommendations for sexual health initiatives include introducing alternative discourses of female sexual desire and male sexual responsibility as a means for building healthier adolescent dating relationships. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)
