Our purpose with this study was to understand how social welfare board perceive neglect and what they consider are unacceptable flaws in parental capacity. The central focus of the study is located in the assessment of the social welfare boards when they consider that the parental capacity is unacceptable. The study aims to answer the following questions: How does social welfare board understand neglect? How perceive social welfare board unacceptable parental capacity? Our study is based on a document analysis of fourteen cases from administrative rulings where social welfare board applied for LVU 1§ 2§ because of flaws in care. We have used hermeneutic interpretation to look at the empirical material. The theoretical framework of the study consists systems theory and Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological model with focus on the family as the basic system. The result we found was that the unacceptable parental capacity consisted of parental individual problems. Problems we could identify at the parents were mental illness, disability, relationship conflicts, violence and abuse. Social welfare board had payed attention to several types of neglect. We identified moral care, emotional care, physical care and fysical violence. Our conclusion is that it not only was just one specific problem in the family without that it were several parallel problems which led to that social welfare board consisted that the parental capacity is unacceptable. The study shows that the term neglect is difficult to define and is a interpretation question of the social welfare board to assess whether each boundary goes where the child is considered to fare badly.

Trends in Strategic Planning in Private Social Service Agencies: A Test of the Ramanujam and Venkatraman Planning ModelGilbertson, Diana L. 12 1900 (has links)
This study modified the Ramanujam and Venkatraman (1987) questionnaire that was used to develop their model of planning system dimensions and planning effectiveness, and tested the model on a sample of private social service agencies. The criterion measures were level of planning sophistication, agency size, perceived environmental uncertainty, and relative competitive position.
The sample was randomly drawn from private social service agencies which were members of the Community Council of Greater Dallas. Telephone interviews with fifty executive directors were conducted by a trained, impartial interviewer.
Stepwise discriminant analysis was used to predict group membership between informal and formal planners. Of the nine dimensions in the model, three dimensions correctly classified 84 percent of the sample. The three dimensions were fulfillment of planning objectives, use of decision making techniques, and lack of resistance to planning.
The level of perceived environmental uncertainty was another criterion set. Directors who perceived high uncertainty paid more attention to the external environment, used more decision making techniques, and relied on functional specialists when planning.
Large and small agencies were classified by their annual budgets. Stepwise discriminant analysis using the planning system dimensions failed to reject the null hypothesis.
Agencies reporting strong relative competitive positions placed greater emphasis on seeking information for planning from external sources. These agencies also reported less resistance for planning within their organizations, fulfillment of more planning objectives, and a flexible planning system. The discriminant analysis correctly classifed 74 percent of the sample.
Finally, the study provided some baseline information on the use of planning techniques by private social service agencies. Just over half of the sample reported having written strategic plans covering at least three years.

A morte deixou de ser um acontecimento social, público e comunitário; deixou de ser um acontecimento doméstico, junto dos familiares e amigos, para ocorrer no hospital. Isso traduz uma hospitalização da morte e, consequentemente, um maior envolvimento dos profissionais de saúde. Os cuidados paliativos são considerados como uma abordagem à saúde humana que rompe com o paradigma biomédico, para aproximar-se de uma assistência integral às pessoas que vivem ou lidam com doenças ameaçadoras da vida, como o câncer. Orientador: Nayara Hakime Dutra Oliveira / Resumo: Esta pesquisa busca conhecer o trabalho social realizado pelos assistentes sociais das duas unidades do Centro de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social (CREAS) do município de Franca/SP que atendem a famílias sob o risco de terem o poder familiar destituído. O método de análise eleito foi o materialismo históricodialético, que permite a apreensão das contradições do movimento do real e busca enxergar além do que se vê de imediato na essência das coisas. A pesquisa foi do tipo documental, bibliográfica e de campo, com a realização de grupo focal com as profissionais assistentes sociais do CREAS Centro e do CREAS Moema, para a obtenção dos dados. O capítulo I traz uma caracterização da cidade onde a pesquisa se realizou, os detalhes da coleta de dados, o perfil das participantes e a metodologia adotada. No capítulo II, a pesquisa discorre sobre a origem do termo poder familiar, substituto do antigo pátrio poder, expondo o caminho percorrido no tempo histórico desde 450 a.C. Também faz referência ao que se entende por famílias abandonadas e às principais expressões da questão social por elas vivenciadas, como insegurança habitacional e alimentar, desemprego, doenças, violência intrafamiliar e estrutural. O objetivo proposto é apresentar a concepção de gestão escolar vivenciada e as ações adotadas pelo gestor escolar que contribuem com um elevado índice de demanda por vagas nessa Escola. A pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, Estudo de Caso, adotou os seguintes princípios metodológicos: pesquisa bibliográfica, análise documental, observação in loco e aplicação de questionário aos professores e a equipe gestora.
