Feasibility study of battery storage installed with solar PV in an energy efficient house

FASCÌ, MARIA LETIZIA January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this project is to nd the optimal size battery for an already installed PV system in a family house in Southern Sweden. First, the existing system is modelled and validated. Then a new model including a battery is built. In this model it is assumed that the aim of the battery is to maximize the self-consumption of the house. A sensitivity analysis is performed in order to study the inuence of the battery capacity on the electricity uxes between the house and the grid. The protability of the project is then investigated, considering the current tari schemes for thehouse and for the "average" Swedish house. Eventually the possibility of applying price-dependent control strategies to the battery is investigated. The primary conclusion is that a battery installation is not protable for the studied house whether the incentives provided by the Swedish government are considered or not. Yet a subsidized installation would be protable for a house subject to the average Swedish electricity price. Another conclusion is that the current hourly volatility in the electricity price is not high enough to make reasonable the use of price dependent battery control strategies. Their use would lead to better economical performance, with respect to the simplest battery control strategy, in case of increased volatility.

Component-based Intelligent Control Architecture for Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems

Su, Jiancheng 18 January 2008 (has links)
The present dynamic manufacturing environment has been characterized by a greater variety of products, shorter life-cycles of products and rapid introduction of new technologies, etc. Recently, a new manufacturing paradigm, i.e. Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (RMS), has emerged to address such challenging issues. RMSs are able to adapt themselves to new business conditions timely and economically with a modular design of hardware/software system. Although a lot of research has been conducted in areas related to RMS, very few studies on system-level control for RMS have been reported in literature. However, the rigidity of current manufacturing systems is mainly from their monolithic design of control systems. Some new developments in Information Technology (IT) bring new opportunities to overcome the inflexibility that shadowed control systems for years. Component-based software development gains its popularity in 1990's. However, some well-known drawbacks, such as complexity and poor real-time features counteract its advantages in developing reconfigurable control system. New emerging Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Web Services, which are based on non-proprietary format, can eliminate the interoperability problems that traditional software technologies are incompetent to accomplish. Another new development in IT that affects the manufacturing sector is the advent of agent technology. The characteristics of agent-based systems include autonomous, cooperative, extendible nature that can be advantageous in different shop floor activities. This dissertation presents an innovative control architecture, entitled Component-based Intelligent Control Architecture (CICA), designed for system-level control of RMS. Software components and open-standard integration technologies together are able to provide a reconfigurable software structure, whereas agent-based paradigm can add the reconfigurability into the control logic of CICA. Since an agent-based system cannot guarantee the best global performance, agents in the reference architecture are used to be exception handlers. Some widely neglected problems associated with agent-based system such as communication load and local interest conflicts are also studied. The experimental results reveal the advantage of new agent-based decision making system over the existing methodologies. The proposed control system provides the reconfigurability that lacks in current manufacturing control systems. The CICA control architecture is promising to bring the flexibility in manufacturing systems based on experimental tests performed. / Ph. D.

Návrh algoritmu redukce síly na řídící ploše letadla / Algorithm for Reduction of Force Fight on Airplane Control Surface

Szásziová, Lenka January 2011 (has links)
Díky provozním tolerancím systému a drobným odchylkám vstupních dat v řídících jednotkách, dostává každé servo mírně odlišné povely a rozdíl v poloze serv vede k namáhání řídící plochy i k namáhání serv.

Embedded Parallel Processing for Ground System Process Control

Troendly, Gregory M., Chen, Sheng S., Nickum, William G., Forman, Michael L. 11 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 30-November 02, 1995 / Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada / Embedded parallel processing provides unique advantages over sequential and symmetrical processing architectures. During the past decade, the architecture of ground control systems has evolved from utilizing sequential embedded processors to modular parallel, distributed, and/or symmetrical processing. The concept of utilizing embedded parallel processing exhibits key features such as modularity, flexibility, scalability, host independence, non-contention of host resources, and no requirement for an operating system. These key features provide the performance, reliability and efficiency while at the same time lowering costs. Proper utilization of embedded parallel processing on a host computer can provide fault tolerance and can greatly reduce the costs and the requirement of utilizing high-end workstations to perform the same level of real-time processing and computationally intensive tasks.

Élaboration d'un système de contrôle de l'espionnage industriel par la fonction contrôle de gestion / Elaboration of a system of control of the industrial espionage by the management control function

Fane, Oumar 12 November 2018 (has links)
Several problems overwhelm organizations, but industrial espionage is becoming more and more important. Its consequences are catastrophic, ranging from the loss of colossal sums to the bankruptcy of certain companies. This research work, which is part of the disciplinary field of Management Sciences, particularly management control, aims to understand the process of controlling industrial espionage in organizations by developing a control system of industrial espionage by the management control function. After a literature review and a first wave of semi-directive interviews, which showed the limits of legal protections and management gaps of technical protections against industrial espionage, we constructed a theoretical model of the control process of industrial espionage by the management control function, which puts into interaction the imposed / free figures, the diagnostic / interactive control levers and their tools, and the six readjusted analysis dimensions. Then we developed a system of control of the industrial espionage by determining its tools and specifying its instrumentation in organizations. A second wave of semi-directive interviews was conducted to justify the relevance of this system with professional and academic management control specialists.

An analysis of the reliability of the 22kV distribution network of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality

Lamour, Bernhardt Gustave January 2011 (has links)
This dissertation is a systematic study of the 22kV Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) electricity power distribution network reliability evaluation and improvements to be applied. Reliability evaluation of electric power systems has traditionally been an integral part of planning and operation. Changes in the electricity utility, coupled with aging electrical apparatus, create a need for more realistic techniques for power system reliability modelling. This work presents a reliability evaluation technique that combines set literature and evaluation criteria. In analysing system reliability, this research takes into account the reasons for many outages and voltage dips and seeks to find mitigating approaches that are financially justified. The study analyses the power system in terms of the methodology developed, using power system reliability techniques, power quality evaluation, protection analyses and evaluating the network against maintenance interventions and programs, manpower availability and weather conditions contributing to the outages. In evaluating the power system various techniques are used to determine if the power network operates within the NRS standards, namely, reliability calculations, testing of protection equipment, interrogation of power quality instruments and modeling the network on Digsilent. This study will look at all the important factors influencing power system reliability, analysing the network in terms of the methodology and recommend improvements.
