Julio Cesar Pereira da Silva 13 June 2014 (has links)
Aimed to analyze the entrepreneurial learning and its influence on skills entrepreneurial developed by managers of information technology in the region Metropolitan of Fortaleza - CE. Were adopted as conceptual research models the model of Politis (2005), in the aspect of entrepreneurial learning, and the Man and Lau (2000), concerning the entrepreneurial competence. The research adopted the qualitative method of descriptive nature. For its implementation, she was interviewed with ten managers of information technology, supported by a semi-structured questionnaire. For processing the data, we used the content analysis method of thematic nature. The survey results showed that Entrepreneurial Learning has paper medium, continuous and experiential in the improvement of entrepreneurial skills of the IT manager. This is because the business prior experiences influence the development of early entrepreneurial skills: administrative, opportunity, commitment and relationship of the IT manager. And they were being improved continuously in further experiments on business, both in their early ventures such as working, then the third. The two ways of transforming entrepreneurial career experiences, both the exploitation (foreground) as the exploration (new opportunities) influence and improve the development of entrepreneurial skills. It also identified continuous and reciprocal influence on the development and enhancement of entrepreneurial skills. In the case of the exercise of entrepreneurial competence commitment, this influences the development of entrepreneurial competence strategy. Meanwhile, the action of conceptual entrepreneurial competence influences the development of entrepreneurial skills: Strategic and opportunity. And, in the exercise of strategic entrepreneurial competence, there was the influence in the development of entrepreneurial skills: administrative, commitment and relationship

Da sensação ausente à sensação como potência = tema e variações sobre a relação arte-tecnologia / From the absent sensation to the sensation as potency : theme and variations on art-technology / De la sensation absente à la sensation comme puissance : thème et variations sur le rapport art-technologie

É na articulação entre sensação e informação que acredita-se residir o potencial para práticas que pretendem responder à altura aos desafios colocados pelo desenvolvimento da tecnociência contemporânea; práticas que não só incluem como extrapolam o mundo da arte / Abstract: One of the basic assumptions of this thesis is to consider that actually there are potentialities to be explored in the relation between art and technology. However, presenting this relationship in the form of dichotomy mainly in contemporary expressions based on digital information, seems unpromising, although it is common practice. Valuing an artistic work at greater or lesser use of technical devices in its composition, by which software or hardware were used, only impoverishes the discussion. Another key assumption is that the sensation as a problematic field is central to promote a positive encounter between art-technology to be possible to occur. However, it is usual to considering that the translation of our senses in digital devices, creating immersive or interactive environments centered only on the representative quality of the devices are sufficient to encompass the complexity of the sensation. One consequence is the reduction of the concept of information of current technologies to mere exchange of signals, as it has already been advocated early by cybernetics theory. Thus, it is only developed the empirical part of the sensation, leaving out other important part, which is the one that the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze called sentiendum, that is, what allows us to create new affections and perceptions, other becomings. It is the link between sensation and information that it is believed to be the potential for practices wishing to adjust to the challenges placed by the development of contemporary technoscience; practices that not only include but go beyond the world of the art / Doutorado / Sociologia / Doutor em Sociologia

Adoption of business information systems in an automotive manufacturing environment: a case study

Dyer, Shirley January 2008 (has links)
Dorbyl Automotive Technologies (DAT) is a manufacturing company that supplies parts and components to the local and international motor vehicle market. The automotive components’ market is very competitive and customers require more from the industry to stay competitive. Customers require full integration throughout the supply chain. DAT and its Information Systems Department have ensured that the necessary business information systems are available to assist the company in staying competitive. One problem, though, is that the users of these systems are not using and adopting the technologies available. This research examines the reasons for this by making use of a technology acceptance model called the UNIFIED THEORY OF ACCEPTANCE AND USE OF TECHNOLOGY (UTAUT), which is an integrated model based on eight different available acceptance models. The aim is to understand which factors influence the use of systems. The research also proposes a way forward by suggesting a model to assist DAT in new system implementations as well as correcting the current situation. The only way DAT will stay competitive is by ensuring that the company becomes lean. Customers demand this as more and more are moving to just-in-time delivery. This implies that the suppliers must react to changes real-time. The use of business information systems will become the main focus area to react to changes quickly and correctly. Effective and accurate systems depend on users making good use of these systems. Remaining competitive will depend on how effectively Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are used.

Information processing instruction in Virginia Community Colleges

Hall, Shirley L. January 1986 (has links)
This was a study of the information processing instruction in Virginia Community Colleges. The purposes of the study were (a) to obtain baseline information about the information processing instruction programs, and (b) to evaluate the information processing programs using the information processing"content" portion of the Standards for Excellence in Business Education. The respondents in the study were secretarial science program directors in the Virginia community colleges. Responses to the survey instrument were received from 22 of the 32 mailed (69%). For the responding institutions, 2314 students were enrolled in courses that involve word processing. Sixty-six percent of the students were younger than 25. There were 57 instructors of information processing in the community colleges; two male and 55 female. Fifteen were full time, 42 part-time. Six of the faculty had doctor's degrees, 42 had master's degrees, six had bachelor's degrees. Of the 419 computers used for word processing, over one-half were IBM compatible. In addition, 106 dedicated word processors were in use. WordStar computer software was used by one-half of the community colleges. Other software most used included WordPerfect and Display Write. Word processing was the most-offered secretarial science course. The secretarial science program directors rated their information processing instruction programs to"meet" or"exceed the standard" in 112 of the 113 items in the"content" portion of the Standards published by the U. S. Department of Education. The one item that was rated"below standard" was an item dealing with data communications instruction. The Standards items were divided into 12 subtopics. The subtopic to receive the highest rating was"Employability Traits and Attitudes." The subtopic to receive the lowest rating was"Computer Programming." / M.S.

21st Century Skills Development: Learning in Digital Communities: Technology and Collaboration

Short, Barbara, Short, Barbara January 2012 (has links)
This study examines some aspects of student performance in the 21st century skills of Information and Communication (ICT) Literacy and collaboration. In this project, extant data from the Assessment and Teaching for 21st Century Skills project (ATC21S) will be examined. ATC21S is a collaborative effort among educational agencies in six countries, universities, educational research groups, high tech innovators and the multinational corporations Cisco, Intel and Microsoft. ATC21S demonstration tasks explore the use of digital literacy and collaborative problem solving constructs in educational assessment. My research investigates evidence from cognitive laboratories and pilots administered in one of the ATC21S demonstration scenarios, a collaborative mathematics/science task called "Global Collaboration Contest: Arctic Trek." Using both quantitative and qualitative methods, I analyze student work samples. Specifically, I (i) develop a rubric as a measurement tool to evaluate the student assessment artifact "Arctic Trek Notebook" for (a) generalized patterns and (b) trends that may indicate skill development in collaborative learning in a digital environment and (ii) conduct descriptive studies among the variables of student age and student notebook characteristics. Results are intended to inform instructional leaders on estimates of student ability in virtual collaboration and to make suggestions for instructional design and professional development for online collaborative learning assessment tasks in K-12 education.

The making of postdigital experiential space : Punchdrunk Company, 2011-2014

Westling, Carina E. I. January 2017 (has links)
This thesis presents my original contribution to knowledge, a combination of critical media and performance theories to analyse the production and augmentation of postdigital experiential spaces in Punchdrunk Theatre Company. Distributed agency is key to Punchdrunk's work, with makers within the company and audiences both being active participants in meaning-making, across complex and detailed interfaces. In order to investigate the making cultures on ‘both sides' of the interface, I undertook a two-year participant study as a researching designer within the company during the build of the productions The House Where Winter Lives and The Drowned Man in 2011-2014, gathering field data in the form of extensive interviews with members of the company and audience participants, supported by diary notations and photographs. I studied the processes and methods that extend, distribute and regulate agency to both audiences and makers within the company, and identified devices and features of the interaction design of the company that produce the immanent subject-event relationships that support immersion in their work. A core aspect of this research concerns the relationship between immersion and the sublime, and how subject-event relationships (immanent vs. transcendent) contribute to engendering sublime interactive experiences. I have analysed the consequences of this for the modelling of participation in interaction design, and how it influences conditions of possibility within interactive systems across physical, digital and blended media. The conclusion of this research includes the definition of a postdigital sublime, and proposes a delinquent system aesthetic that integrates proxies for gravity through articulation of the ‘shadow side' of interaction design.

Decisão estratégica em TI: estudo de caso. / IT strategic decision: a case study

Murakami, Milton 11 September 2003 (has links)
The Information Technology - IT strategy is a fundamental issue for every business. The effective use of IT strategy requests the domain of the strategic alignment. One of the biggest challenges for executives of IT is how to administrate all the demands in the business area considering the strategic alignment. This study analyses how the Banco do Brasil that in the last few years has promoted a true revolution in the IT area, it has dealt the strategic alignment theme and how the decisions affect the negotiating areas of that Institution. On studying the theme decision making, the largest support is on the work developed by Herbert A. Simon and Paul C. Nutt two of the main researchers of the theme. The importance of the theme determines the need of its delimitation. That is the reason why this study focuses on Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) application in the universe of decision making, in the strategic alignment. The case study explores the decision making process in the Banco do Brasil and his Demands Priority Model, based on AHP, like one of the support for the strategic alignment of IT. It analyses how this instrument is taking the reduction in its backlog, one of the biggest problems of the IT management. It also presents two studies ex post facto to demonstrate the applicability of decision support software based on the AHP. The analysis of the results marks the need of the IT area to incorporate a new concept called IT Corporate Governance that will disrupt the traditional IT management model.
