Lidh, Johanna January 2018 (has links)
It can be difficult to get a paid employment in television production, even if you have an education in the field. It can also be problematic for those who hire people with the skills, experience or work ethic that are required. Therefore, it is common to work as an unpaid runner or intern as a first step into working life. The majority of previous studies are based on the point of view of the trainee, often from a critical perspective, which opens up for argumentation about why the present study is needed. The purpose of the present study is therefore to contribute knowledge and increased understanding of unpaid labor in the Swedish television industry from two different perspectives; interns and employers. This to open up for discussion and increase the development opportunities for safer forms of employment. Qualitative method has been used and the result has been collected through eight semi structured interviews with interns and employers in television production in Stockholm. In order to get a wider perspective of how the phenomenon of unpaid work and internships is perceived by each selection group, the result has been analyzed by using the SWOT-model. The result shows that education almost does not matter at all when it comes to getting a paid employment in the television industry today. In order to get a paid employment, contacts, professional experience and personal chemistry are highly valued, which in turn can be difficult without having had an internship. On the other hand, education is one of the top priorities when it comes to getting an internship, which in turn often leads to the development of these three requirements or priorities.

A Description and Analysis of the Consortium Process in the Development of the American Government Telecourses for National Distribution

Lynch, Eileen M. (Eileen Mary) 08 1900 (has links)
The problem of this study is a description and analysis of the process used by a consortium in the development of college credit courses by television. The purposes of the study are to delineate objectives for the development by a consortium of the American Government telecourses, to describe the process used, to analyze that process relative to the objectives stated, to make recommendations for reformation of the process, and to develop a guideline model for future consortium produced telecourses. The description, analysis, and recommendations for reform are based on the experience of the author as the content editor-writer for the project. Analysis is also based on the related instructional design and telecourse development literature. Further analysis is based on the process evaluation observations of other key consortium team members involved in the development of the American Government telecourses.

Risate in scatola: storia, mediazioni e percorsi distributivi della situation comedy americana in Italia

BARRA, LUCA 17 June 2011 (has links)
In the Italian context, several media products have foreign origins: diffused or broadcast together with the national productions, they often change their nature in order to reach the Italian audience, and consequently become partially different products. Therefore, this dissertation aims to put the theoretical basis of a systematic study of the “mediation” processes that take place in the passage of a media text between two countries: national appropriation (“Italianization”), adaptation, distribution and circulation of different contents and products. Subsequently, these tools are applied on (and confirmed by) the analysis of the Italian vicissitudes of the US-made situation comedy, focusing on five titles, in order to study three aspects: the genre history on Italian TV, connected with the evolution of the national TV and media system; the variations and gaps that every text has to face, thus expanding the concept of translation into adaptation and transposition; in conclusion, the US sitcom chain in Italy, including TV markets, dubbings and broadcasting, highlighting the intermediary role played by production routines and professionals involved in the national and international distribution.
