Zoneamento geotécnico com base em krigagem ordinária e equações multiquádricas: barragem de Itaipu / Geotechnical zoning based in ordinary kriging and multiquadric equations: Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant

Josiele Patias 27 October 2010 (has links)
This thesis presents a study based on the zoning of geotechnical parameters resulting from core boring, carried out in the basaltic bedrock located in the area of the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant (Foz do Iguaçu - PR). These zonings were carried out based on the interpolation of the data by means of ordinary kriging and multiquadric equations. The data provided by core boring analyzed in this research are: Rock Quality Designation (RDQ), degree of alteration, degree of consistency and degree of fracturing. The interpolation methods were evaluated for the RQD parameter, since such methods present similar mathematical characteristics; therefore, comparisons were made between interpolations resulting from ordinary kriging and multiquadric equations, demonstrating the similarity of these methods with real data. In this manner, the remaining parameters due to being categorized as categorical variables and, therefore, discrete, and presenting complexity for the execution of the variographic analysis of the data (experimental semi-variogram and modeling of the semi-variogram), were interpolated only by the method of the multiquadric equations. The validation of the interpolated data was carried out on the basis of a case study relating to the hydrogeotechnical behavior of the bedrock mass, which is monitored by standpipe piezometers. This validation showed that the methods employed to obtain the zonings and the modeling parameters chosen were adequate, since a high correlation was verified between the behavior trends obtained by the interpolations of the geotechnical parameters of the bedrock mass and the behavior revealed by the set of piezometers installed in the same site. The primordial stage of this job was the acquisition of historical data relating to the geological-geotechnical investigations in the area of Itaipu Dam. This data served as a starting point for the composition of an interactive map showing the location of the different types of investigations carried out in the rock and earthen masses. The resulting document permit a rapid and dynamic search through the geotechnical information, since it presents as its reference the plan view of the Itaipu dam itself. Each point of investigation is linked to the geotechnical profile. The investigations utilized in this map are: core boring, standard penetration test (SPT), cone penetration test (CPT) and manual pit. In this manner, the recovery of the historical information obtained by the geotechnical investigation the Itaipu Dam area resulted in data compilations in digital format, based upon which, a set of tabular forms was obtained of a type capable of being utilized in different Systems of Geographical Information and of interpolation of geo-referenced data.

Recherche sur l'articulation entre le droit commun et le droit spécial en droit de la responsabilité civile extracontractuelle / Research on the relation between ordinary law and special extra contractual civil liability law

Mauclair, Stéphanie 10 November 2011 (has links)
For several years now, the issue of the simplification of the law is central in the juridicaldebate. The multiplication of rules of law, of their sources (national and international), as well astheir foundations (laws, rules, codes, etc.), is harmful to the clear understanding of the law andconsequently to the juridical safety. This statement can be made particularly in the field of extra contractual civil liability where normsfrom all origins, all natures and numerous founding bases are indeed to be found. Yet thesenorms overlap and compete in their scope of application, so that several norms may apply to thesame litigation. Therefore, the issue which arises is to ascertain beforehand option, the how toarbitrate among such competing and overlapping norms. In order to structure the norms of civil liability, it has been necessary to research and findprinciples enabling to designate the norms to be applied in the litigation. Two principles stand outfrom this research. The first one, called the guiding principle, is the principle of subsidiarity, whilethe second one, called the principle of revision, is a principle of interest, which is itself based onseveral instruments, such as: option, plurality, and hierarchy. The legislator, the judge and thevictim are obviously at the core of this system of links which, if it is correctly applied, shouldenable to solve all the competitions between norms, by designating the norm which is finallyapplicable.

Equações diferenciais ordinárias generalizadas lineares e aplicações às equações diferenciais funcionais lineares / Linear generalized ordinary differential equations and application to linear functional differential equations

Collegari, Rodolfo 25 February 2014 (has links)
~\' e as soluções do problema de Cauchy perturbado \'dx SUP. d \'tau\' =D[A(t )x +F(x, t )], x(\'t IND. 0\') = x(\'t IND. 0\') = \'x SOB. In this work, we present a variation-of-constants formula for linear generalized ordinary differential equations in Banach spaces. More specifically, we are interested in establishing a relation between the solutions of the Cauchy problem for a linear generalized ordinary differential equation \'dx SUP. d \\tau\' =D[A(t )x], x(\'t IND. 0\') = x (\'t IND. 0\') = \'x SOB. ~\' and the solutions of the perturbed Cauchy problem \'dx SUP. \'d \\tau\' =D[A(t )x +F(x, t )], x(\'t IND. \'0) = \'x SOB.~\', where the functions involved are generalized Perron integrable and, hence, admit many discontinuities and oscillations. We also prove that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the Cauchy problem for a linear functional differential equations of the form { \'y PONTO\' = L(t) \'y IND. t, \'y IND> 0 = \\varphi, where L is a bounded linear operator and \" is a regulated function, and a certain class of linear generalized ordinary differential equations. As a consequence, we are able to obtain a variation-of-constants formula relating the solutions of the linear functional differential equation and the solutions of the perturbed problem { \'y PONTO\' = L(T)\'y IND.t´+ f (\'y IND. t\', t), \'y IND.t IND. 0\' = \\varphi, where the application t \'ARROW\' f(\'y IND. t\', t) is Perron integrable, with t in an interval of R, for each regulated function y

Application of Symplectic Integration on a Dynamical System

Frazier, William 01 May 2017 (has links)
Molecular Dynamics (MD) is the numerical simulation of a large system of interacting molecules, and one of the key components of a MD simulation is the numerical estimation of the solutions to a system of nonlinear differential equations. Such systems are very sensitive to discretization and round-off error, and correspondingly, standard techniques such as Runge-Kutta methods can lead to poor results. However, MD systems are conservative, which means that we can use Hamiltonian mechanics and symplectic transformations (also known as canonical transformations) in analyzing and approximating solutions. This is standard in MD applications, leading to numerical techniques known as symplectic integrators, and often, these techniques are developed for well-understood Hamiltonian systems such as Hill’s lunar equation. In this presentation, we explore how well symplectic techniques developed for well-understood systems (specifically, Hill’s Lunar equation) address discretization errors in MD systems which fail for one or more reasons.

Método de partição produto aplicado à Krigagem

Almeida, Maria de Fátima Ferreira January 2019 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The random variables in space are defined by random functions subject to regionalized variable theory. To assume spatial continuity with a limited number of realization of the random variable, we need to assume stationarity hypotheses, which involve different degrees of spatial homogeneity. Formally, a regionalized variable Z is stationary if statistical moments of Z(s + h) are the same for any vector h. The first order stationarity hypothesis is defined to be the hypothesis that first order moment of the distribution of the random function Z(s) is constant throughout the area. The intrinsic hypothesis is based on the computation of global means of semivariate models, with the assumption of 1st order stationarity and incremental variation stationarity. Although many variables are capable of double or multiple stationarity, these spatial structures are not taken into account by the usual semivariogram, and, consequently, cause acuracy problems in Kriging maps. In order xvii to solve the described problem, it was identify the points of change in the average with the objective of improving the quality and accuracy of the maps of Ordinary Kriging. To separate the groups, a mean change point search function was created using the Bayesian hierarchical model, called the Space Product Partition Model (MPPs). Two databases were used to test the model’s potential to separate spatially dependent groups, in which the former suspected a change in mean while in the latter. “ Data2 ”, there... Parameter Estimation and Optimal Design Techniques to Analyze a Mathematical Model in Wound Healing

Karimli, Nigar 01 April 2019 (has links)
For this project, we use a modified version of a previously developed mathematical model, which describes the relationships among matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), their tissue inhibitors (TIMPs), and extracellular matrix (ECM). Our ultimate goal is to quantify and understand differences in parameter estimates between patients in order to predict future responses and individualize treatment for each patient. By analyzing parameter confidence intervals and confidence and prediction intervals for the state variables, we develop a parameter space reduction algorithm that results in better future response predictions for each individual patient. Moreover, use of another subset selection method, namely Structured Covariance Analysis, that considers identifiability of parameters, has been included in this work. Furthermore, to estimate parameters more efficiently and accurately, the standard error (SE- )optimal design method is employed, which calculates optimal observation times for clinical data to be collected. Finally, by combining different parameter subset selection methods and an optimal design problem, different cases for both finding optimal time points and intervals have been investigated.

Risk Assessment of Dropped Cylindrical Objects in Offshore Operations

Steven, Adelina 18 May 2018 (has links)
Dropped object are defined as any object that fall under its own weight from a previously static position or fell due to an applied force from equipment or a moving object. It is among the top ten causes of injuries and fatality in oil and gas industry. To solve this problem, several in-house tools and guidelines is developed over time to assess the risk of dropped objects on the sub-sea structures. This thesis focuses on compiling and comparing those methods in hope to improve the recommended practices available in the market. A simple modification is done on the in-house tools to better predict the landing point distribution of the dropped cylindrical objects on the seabed by imposing the random three-dimensional rotation around the water depth axis. This tool is then used to compare the result of annual hit frequency using the recommended practice and further compared with the available experimental data.

Etude de l'activité neuronale : optimisation du temps de simulation et stabilité des modèles / Study of neuronal activity : optimization of simulation time and stability of models

Sarmis, Merdan 04 December 2013 (has links)
Computational Neuroscience consists in studying the nervous system through modeling and simulation. It is to characterize the laws of biology by using mathematical models integrating all known experimental data. From a practical point of view, the more realistic the model, the largest the required computational resources. The issue of complexity and accuracy is a well known problem in the modeling and identification of models. The research conducted in this thesis aims at improving the simulation of mathematical models representing the physical and chemical behavior of synaptic receptors. Models of synaptic receptors are described by ordinary differential equations (ODE), and are resolved with numerical procedures. In order to optimize the performance of the simulations, I have implemented various ODE numerical resolution methods. To facilitate the selection of the best solver, a method, requiring a minimum amount of information, has been proposed. This method allows choosing the best solver in order to optimize the simulation. The method demonstrates that the dynamic of a model has greater influence on the solver performances than the kinetic scheme of the model. In addition, to characterize pathogenic behavior, a parameter optimization is performed. However, some parameter values lead to unstable models. A stability study allowed for determining the stability of the models with parameters provided by the literature, but also to trace the stability constraints depending to these parameters. Compliance with these constraints ensures the stability of the models studied during the optimization phase, and therefore the success of the procedure to study pathogen models.

Build the city with residential allotments : What quality for ordinary urban spaces production?

Herrmann, Lou 03 May 2017 (has links)
This thesis analyses the contemporary modalities of the production of residential allotments (lotissements) in France, as well as the morphological quality of urban spaces produced in this operational framework. It questions the paradox between the almost unanimous criticism directed at these residential developments, on the one hand, and the observation of exemplary developmentoperations on the other hand. It explores the conditions under which this modus operandi can produce urban spaces with morphological qualities. The residential allotments are considered from a dual perspective: as a material space, by studying the quality of the urban fabric; and as a process, by analysing the functioning of the collective action systems composing it.From a theoretical perspective, this work makes use organisational sociology tools (sociologie des organisations) by crossing of the Strategic Analysis inputs (Crozier and Friedberg) with those of the Economies of Worth (Boltanski and Thévenot). The understanding of the development’s materiality draws on the “frames” approach (approche par trames) developed around the notion of urban fabric by the French school of urban morphology. The thesis relies on qualitative and comparative analysis of four case studies located in urban agglomeration of Lyon.Firstly, it shows that there is no morphological fatality. The fabric analysis of these four projects proves that this modus operandi is not doomed to produce mediocre urban spaces. This demonstration draws on a prior conceptualisation of the notion of morphological quality, considered as a social convention. The analysis of subdivision laws (droit de lotir), in the broader context of regulatory changes in the field of urbanism and town planning in France, then shows that the impact of sustainable development regulations is, at least indirectly, to increase the quality of the residential allotment. Legal changes have indeed created a context that encourages a stronger reflection on development location by the project manager (maître d’ouvrage) and probably also a greater building density.Nevertheless, laws cannot provide a full explanation. The decisions regarding morphology are made at three key moments: when the planning laws (droit des sols) are defined, when the planning approvals (autorisations d’urbanisme) are delivered and when developments are designed and programmed. The analysis so reveals that the municipal stakeholder potentially holds an important power over the regulation of the urban form. Local planning therefore has a significant impact on the developments’ fabric, although experience shows that this impact is most often negative. In the interaction with private stakeholders, whether they are the developers (lotisseurs) and their designers (concepteurs), or the inhabitants-project managers (habitants-maître d’ouvrage) and their builder (constructeurs), the municipality has many resources at his disposal to influence the projects quality. In this respect, this thesis highlights the central role that partner institutions play in this power relation, particularly for smaller municipalities. At these different moments, the aptitude of public regulation for improving quality depends on one essential variable: the political commitment of the stakeholders. Finally, the quality of the residential allotments also depends on a further element; whether or not the developers have a sense of morphological responsibility. Developers indeed maintain a room for manoeuver regarding morphology. Their behaviour at the conception level is consequently also decisive for the quality of the developments’ fabric.
