Sartre. Approche énonciative / Discontinuity and Disconnection phenomena in Nausea by J.P. Sartre. Approach enunciative

Karkaba, Fatiha 02 July 2012 (has links)
Our interest in the phenomenon of typographical disconnection was sparked by the use of final periods to organize propositions without verbal structure in the novel Nausea. Logical syntax was inadequate to accunt for their predicative value. We found that the principle of enunciation gives these sentenses a semantic and enunciative basic. This work has tried to solve the problem of verbless predication based on text analysis as well as on historical research.

This dissertation investigates the notion of discourse in Émile Benveniste’s work. Starting from Gérard Dessons’s statement (2006), which says that Benveniste is the "inventor of discourse", this study aims to elucidate the place occupied by this concept in the benvenistian work. To do so, we undertake a search for references to Benveniste in the Dictionary of Discourse Analysis (CHARADEAU; MAINGUENEAU, 2008), as well as a discussion of points of his Theory of Enunciation that can lead the reader to an indicialist reading. We expatiate on Benveniste’s path from his affiliation with Saussure, through his overcoming of his master, until his arrival at the concept of language-discourse. This concept is defined in this study as the particular semiotic of each speaker. The effective analysis of the term discourse is performed based on a theoretical corpus delimited from a methodological path of reading. This corpus is composed of nine texts from Problems in General Linguistics I and II: Observations on the functioning of language in the freudian discovery (1956), The nature of pronouns (1956), Subjectivity in language (1958), A look at the development of linguistics (1963), The levels of linguistic analysis (1964), Language and human experience (1965), Form and meaning in language 1966), The semiology of language (1969), and The formal apparatus of enunciation (1970). From the analysis of these texts, we establish an inseparable relationship between enunciation and discourse: they are interdependent, but distinct. The analysis reveals that when the speakers appropriate language-discourse, they remove it from the state of possibility, actualizing it, converting it into discourse by the act of enunciation, ie, (inter)subjectively implying themselves. Therefore, discourse is defined as the manifestation of enunciation, responsible for promoting human experience, which only finds fulfillment in and through language.

Vyjadřování epistémické modality ve španělských žurnalistických textech v porovnání s českými. / Expression of epistemic modality in Spanish news texts in comparison with Czech texts.

HAVLÍKOVÁ, Martina January 2015 (has links)
The core of the present master's thesis is a comparative analysis of means of expressing epistemic modality on the background of Spanish and Czech journalistic texts. Initially, the discourse analysis and the concept of theory of enunciation are presented. Secondly, the author defines the term modality and its concept in terms of modal logic and linguistics. She concentrates on different typologies of modality presented by foreign and Czech authors as well. Further, the works focuses on the category of evidentiality and means of expression (especially lexical) of epistemic modality. The proper research is based on qualitative and quantitative analysis. The aim of this investigation is to compare the frequency of occurrence of the epistemic markers between the aforementioned languages.

La politique de communication de la Commission Européenne en matière d'emploi et de lutte contre la discrimination : une approche sémantico-énonciative et discursive / The communication policy of the European Commission on employment and the fight against discrimination : a semantic and discursive approach

Attruia, Francesco 02 April 2013 (has links)
La deuxième (chapitres 3-5) portera sur l'analyse sémantico-énonciative et discursive du corpus / The purpose of this thesis is to analyse, from a semantic and enunciative point of view, the European Union's discourse on employment and the fight against discrimination. The Corpus is made up of 155 documents published between 2004 and 2011 by the European Commission's DG for Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion. Our goal is to observe the way linguistic phenomena described in this work contribute to the construction and discourse stabilization of the linguistic sense and reference. The thesis is structured as follows: the first part will be dedicated to the presentation of the corpus and problematic. This section also contains the fundamental principles of enunciative semantics along with a description of the AntConc software we will employ in order to explore the reference corpus. The second part is focused on the corpus analysis and is divided into three chapters. The first one deals with the linguistic expression of subjectivity and will concentrate on the study of the enunciative modalities. The second one is dedicated to an analysis of the enunciative heterogeneity of the European Union's discourse, in particular from the Scandinavian Theory of Linguistic Polyphony's point of view. Finally, in the last chapter, we will observe the way a verbal sequence ? whether it be a collocation, a simple or complex syntagma, may create a speech event

Costa, Daniel Vitor da Silveira da 29 May 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2015-05-14T12:42:43Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 5599283 bytes, checksum: 5e3f4ab688e9947d93932e4104d408da (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-05-29 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This paper presents the results of the study on the construction of meaning in drug advertisements found in the O Parahybano newspaper, 1892. It is assumed that every statement in the construction of meaning, is influenced and formed by elements such as structure, content, style, and outside factors such as context, not only in production as in reception of meaning. As a general goal, we tried to analyze a corpus of advertisements relating to drugs taken from the newspaper The Parahybano the year 1892 with a view to understanding the formation/production of meaning in the advertisement genre. To this end, we sought the Theory of Enunciation inspired in the studies developed by Bakhtin and other theorists who follow this perspective, as Barros (2001), Brait (2005), Flowers and Teixeira (2000) and Marcuschi (2003). Other authors were fundamental to the work on the historical contextualization of the newspaper as a vehicle for communication and support, as Nicholas (2009), Martins (1978), Araújo (1986), Gonzales (2003) Chartier (1999a and 1999b), Barbosa (2007 and 2010) among others. The methodology applied in this study consisted in the selection of the corpus - comprising nine drug ads, published in The Journal Parahybano, 1892 -, followed by literature review, in order to make an analysis by a multitheorical approach from the dialectical, inductive and bibliographic and documental research methods. It was observed that the advertisement genre here presented reveals how he aimed to circulate information or promote the sale of products or services in the nineteenth century. Still, it was found that the ad is characterized as a genre by having a relatively stable form as concrete statement and that the question of the meaning/theme of the thematic content, along with the compositional construction and style, marked by the nuances of being a specific human activity in the social-verbal sphere, both characterize and define the discursive genre as they are fundamental of meaning of [re] construction to the process.

An example of research on academic mobility in Hong Kong

Martinez, Valérie 08 January 2016 (has links)
Numerous scholars have already stressed the need to prepare students prior to academic mobility (Abdallah-Pretceille, 2003; Jackson, 2013, for example) in order to face hypermodernity (Aubert, 2004). As per the new mobilities paradigm (Urry, 2007), this implies considering individuals at the centre of political and institutional issues. Furthermore, the multiplicity of terminology of references towards academic mobility, and intercultural competences, justifies this research. The theory, for this doctoral dissertation, applies “renewed interculturality” (Dervin, 2012), a move away from a culturalist approach. Intercultural competences are therefore defined as a stepping back from discourses on the Other that may emerge during encounters. In order to collect the data, six focus groups have been organised with two batches of students from a Higher Education Institution in Hong-Kong, an “education hub” (Dervin & Machart, 2014) that is striving to be competitive particularly in increasing the number of incomingand outcoming students. Training and education to interculturality have been implemented prior to academic mobility in order to observe the impact on participants’ discourses before and after the mobility. Theories of enunciation and dialogism represent the methodology allowing us to compare and analyse the reported voices in the participants’ discourse and their prosodic realisation (Martin & White, 2005) before and after the experience of academic mobility. I have attempted to observe the dialogic space available to welcome the Other during encounters in the participants’ discourse. The results seem to underline the increased number of reported voices in participants’ discourse after study abroad, but as the space opened for negotiation is instable and depends on the interlocutors and the voices addressed, consequently, further research appears necessary to study the influences of a preparation prior to mobility on the contraction or expansion of heteroglossia. All in all, this doctoral dissertation aimed to renew preparation for mobilities in an academic setting that emphasises on the well being of lifelong learners.
