Reconstruction volumique d’un jet impactant une surface fendue à partir de champs cinématiques obtenus par PIV stéréoscopique / Volume reconstruction of an impinging jet on a slotted plate by using kinematic fields obtained by stereoscopic PIV

Hamdi, Jana 12 December 2017 (has links)
Air conditioning and ventilation systems are often composed of jets having a configuration of an impinging jet, on their end part. Thus, the blown airflows impact slotted obstacles of different shapes to improve mixing. The conditions of confinement and blowing sometimes cause acoustic incompatibility. The acoustic noises generated are due to a phenomenon of feedback loops resulting of the appearance of self-sustained sounds. The production of sound by a free flow or in interaction with a structure has been the subject of many studies. In the case of an acoustic field and for a flow of low Mach number, Howe's energetic correlation is used to evaluate the acoustic power generated or absorbed by the interactions between the acoustic field and the flow. The calculation of this power requires the knowledge of three parameters : vorticity, velocity and acoustic velocity by analytical methods or by using experimental data. Experimentally, the measurement of the kinematic field, to deduce the vorticity, requires a three-dimensional measurement technique. For this purpose, an experimental platform, using laser velocimetry, has been developed and equipped to generate flows of a plane jet. The kinematic fields of these flows were measured using the PIV technique, with a stereoscopic PIV device. The kinematic fields of thirty parallel planes were measured to study the corresponding velocity fields. Two reconstruction methods have been applied to these plans : the POD and the phase average. The volume is obtained by an interpolation of the reconstructed planes giving access to the three components of the velocity. To validate these low-cost 3D reconstruction methods, they were compared to experimental measurements made by the same experimental setup, under the same conditions, by using the tomographic PIV giving access to the three-dimensional kinematic fields.

"Avaliação da hiperplasia do processo coronóide por meio da tomografia computadorizada helicoidal" / Evaluation of the Coronoid Process Hyperplasia by means of Helicoidal Computerized Tomography

Vanda Beatriz Teixeira Coelho Domingos 02 March 2006 (has links)
The Coronoid Process Hyperplasia is an affection that causes a limited mandibular mobility and a consequent limitation in mouth opening. It doesn’t present any painful symptomatology and has a slow progression, leading the patient to look for treatment only when the opening limitation is severe to the point of impairing regular masticatory functions. Many cases lead clinicians to treat the patient as he had a temporomandibular dysfunction. This work proposed an evaluation of the CT as an auxiliary method in the elaboration of the diagnosis and in the surgical planning of that anomaly by studying the presence of the Coronoid Process Hyperplasia through the observation of images obtained by means of the Helicoidal Computerized Tomography, considering the volumetric multiplane and 3D images and their associations. Filed images of Helicoidal Computerized Tomography were used, belonging to the examination of 152 patients who presented symptoms of temporomandibular dysfunction and were all directed to the Dento-Maxillo-Facial Diagnosis Unit of the Clinica Felix Boada in the city of Caracas – Venezuela for TMA tomographic examination. Of the 152 patients 20 were selected who showed signs or symptoms of TMA dysfunction and Coronoid Process Hyperplasia was detected. Data of the 20 patients were compared in order to identify possible differences among the opinions of 5 radiologist specialists and 5 buco-maxillo -facial specialists. The Analysis of Means – ANOM was used to calculate a general average among the 5 specialists in each specialty and a gap that opinions and which ones had different opinions. Afterwards the comparison between the 2 groups was made using the Proportion Test. The observers concluded that the MPR images were more clarifying than the 3D images in most of the cases of coronoid process hyperplasia, especially when those resources were evaluated separately. Although they found vital the utilization of both images in association or not and indicated them to the study of the Coronoid Process Hyperplasia. Hypo mobility was observed in the TMA in the affected side in 55,2% of the cases

Cálculo rápido do operador de retroprojeção com aplicações em reconstrução tomográfica de imagens / Fast computation of the backprojection operator with applictions in tomographic image reconstruction

Lima, Camila de 09 June 2017 (has links)
Incremental methods belong to a class of iterative methods that divide the data set into ordered subsets, and which update the image when processing each subset (sub-iterations). It accelerates the reconstruction convergence and quality images are obtained in fewer iterations. However, it is necessary to compute the projection and backprojection operators in each sub-iteration, resulting in the computational cost of O(n3) flops for × images. On the other hand, some alternatives based on interpolation over a regular grid on the Fourier space or on nonequispaced fast transforms, among other ideas, were developed in order to alleviate the computational cost. In addition, several approaches substantially speed up the computation of the iterations of classical algorithms, but the incremental methods had not been benefited from these techniques. In this work, a new approach is proposed in which the nonequispaced fast Fourier transform (NFTT) is used in each subiteration of incremental methods in order to perform the numerically intensive calculations efficiently: the projection and backprojection, resulting in incremental methods with complexity O(n2 log n ). The proposed methods are applied to the synchrotron radiation tomography and the results show a good performance.

Microscopie tomographique diffractive et profilométrie multivue à haute résolution / Tomographic diffractive microscopy and multiview profilometry with high resolution

Liu, Hui 27 June 2014 (has links)
We have developed a tomographic diffractive microscope in reflection, which permits observation of sample surfaces with an improved lateral resolution, compared to a conventional holographic microscope. From the same set of data, high-precision measurements can be performed on the shape of the reflective surface by reconstructing the phase of the diffracted field. doing so allows for several advantages compared to classical holographic interferometric measurements: improvement in lateral resolution, easier phase unwrapping, reduction of the coherent noise, combined with the high-longitudinal precision provided by interferometric phase measurements. We demonstrate these capabilities by imaging various test samples.

Putze, Torsten 08 January 2009 (has links) (PDF)
3D Particle Tracking Velocimetry (3D PTV) is an image based method for flow field determination. It is based on seeding a flow with tracer particles and recording the flow with a multi camera system. The results are 3D trajectories of a large number of particles for a statistical analysis of the flow. The thesis shows different novel models to increase the spectrum of applications and to optimize efficiency of 3D PTV. Central aspects are the use of the mirror system to generate a virtual multi camera system, the modelling of complex interfaces of multimedia photogrammetry, a probability based tracking method and a novel method for tomographic reconstruction of volume raster data. The improved models are tested in three real testing facilities and with synthetic data. Using a beam splitter in front of the camera lens and deflecting mirrors arranged in the optical path, a four headed virtual camera system can be generated. This method is characterised by its economic efficiency and by the fact that a synchronisation is not necessary. These facts are important especially when using high speed cameras. When observing phenomena in water, there will be refraction at the different interfaces. This has to be taken into account and modelled for each application. Approaches which use correction terms are not suitable to handle complex optical interfaces. The developed approach is based on a multiple refraction ray tracing with known interface parameters and camera orientations. Mostly the multi image matching of particles is performed using epipolar geometry. Caused by the not stable camera orientation or a very high particle density this geometric properties are not sufficient to solve the ambiguities. Using further geometrical radiometrical and physical properties of particles, the determination of the 3D trajectories can be performed. After the analysis of different properties those of them are chosen which are suitable for spatio-temporal matching. 3D PTV bases on the discretisation of particle images in image space and the following object coordinate determination. A raster based approach is the tomographic reconstruction of the volume. Here the light intensity distribution in the volume will be reconstructed. Afterwards the flow information is determined from the differences in successive 3D images. Using tomographic reconstruction techniques a higher particle density can be analysed. The developed approach bases on a slice by slice rectification of the camera images and on a following assembly of the volume. The developed models and approaches are tested at different testing facilities. These differ in size (0.5 dm³ – 20 dm³ – 130 m³) and flow velocities (0.3 m/s – 7 m/s – 0.5 m/s).

Kompiuterinės regos taikymų tyrimai medienos kokybės kontrolei / Research of computer vision application for the control of wood quality

Malinauskas, Mindaugas 26 May 2004 (has links)
Wood is a limited natural resource whose characteristics have been difficult to identify by advanced technology. The most expensive is a hardwood. There is a desire to optimize the production of wood products by minimizing waste and maximizing output. It could be achieved if one had capabilities to evaluate the common wood structures ― knots, rots, empty spaces and other defects. There are many nondestructive testing methods that could be applied to the evaluation of the inner quality of a log. The most successful one is an x-ray computerized tomography. This thesis covers principles of computerized tomography and image reconstruction algorithms. Testing was performed on implementations of tomographic image reconstruction algorithms using synthetic and real data. Research on an application of an x-ray computerized tomography for the analysis of wood structures was made. Inspection of glued zones in glued wooden articles was accomplished using tomographic imaging. Guidelines for the creation of a wood specialized x-ray computerized tomograph were given.

Crustal velocity structure of the Southern Nechako Basin, British Columbia, from wide-angle seismic traveltime inversion

Stephenson, Andrew 30 November 2010 (has links)
In the BATHOLITHSonland seismic project, a refraction - wide-angle reflection survey was shot in 2009 across the Coast Mountains and Interior Plateau of central British Columbia. Part of the seismic profile crossed the Nechako Basin, a Jurassic-Cretaceous basin with potential for hydrocarbons within sedimentary rocks that underlie widespread volcanics. Along this 205-km-long line segment, eight explosive shots averaging 750 kg were fired and recorded on 980 seismometers. Forward and inverse modelling of the traveltime data were conducted with two independent methods: ray-tracing based modelling of first and secondary arrivals, and a higher resolution wavefront-based first-arrival seismic tomography. Gravity modelling was utilized as a means of evaluating the density structure corresponding to the final velocity model. Material with velocities less than 5.0 km/s is interpreted as sedimentary rocks of the Nechako Basin, while velocities from 5.0-6.0 km/s may correspond to interlayered sediments and volcanics. The greatest thickness of sedimentary rocks in the basin is found in the central 110 km of the profile. Two sub-basins were identified in this region, with widths of 20-50 km and maximum sedimentary depths of 2.5 km and 3.3 km. Such features are well-defined in the velocity model, since resolution tests indicate that features with widths greater than ~13 km are reliable. Beneath the sedimentary rocks, seismic velocities increase more slowly with depth – from 6.0 km/s just below the basin to 6.3 km/s at ~17 km depth, and then to 6.8-7.0 km/s at the base of the crust. The Moho is interpreted at a depth of 33.5-35 km along the profile, and mantle velocities are high at 8.05-8.10 km/s.
