Vocabulary Comprehension in Children with AutismPierro, Melissa A. 27 March 2013 (has links)
An open question in autism research is how to assess language abilities in this population. We investigated language development in monolingual and bilingual children with varying degrees of autism, ages 3 to 9, with the aim of better understanding vocabulary comprehension. Two different methodologies were used: the Receptive One-Word Picture Vocabulary Test (ROWPVT) and eye-tracker technique.
We examined whether the eye-tracker could help in the assessment of these children because it does not require the child to point during the test. Four typically developing control children, 14 monolingual English children with moderate/mild autism, and 4 children (2 monolingual English, 2 bilingual Spanish/English) with severe autism were tested and the results of the ROWPVT test were compared to the eye-tracker results. Interestingly, bilingual children with severe autism had better results using eye-tracker than the traditional ROWPVT test. These results suggest that these children know more vocabulary than traditional test measures indicate.

Online nástroj pro průběžné sledování a zpracovávání výsledků z vyhledávacích strojů / Online Tool for Monitoring and Processing of Searching Engine ResultsSedlář, Petr January 2007 (has links)
The aim of this work was to design and implement the application that is easily, quickly and effectively able to determine the position in the www search engines based on the given World Wide Web pages and theirs key words. The application is accessible by the web interface and it enables comparison of the position statements from the archives, comparison of the graph outputs, as well as sending of PDF format files containing regular results statements. Together with the position it is stored the number of references of particular word in the search engine. Furthermore, it is possible to display also the position changes compared with the former statements. As stated above, it is possible to store the outputs in the PDF format documents and therefore it is easy to shore the entire development in your personal computer, in case online system is insufficient.

Development and Implementation of Star Tracker Electronics / Utveckling och implementering av elektronik för en stjärnkameraLindh, Marcus January 2014 (has links)
Star trackers are essential instruments commonly used on satellites. They provide precise measurement of the orientation of a satellite and are part of the attitude control system. For cubesats star trackers need to be small, consume low power and preferably cheap to manufacture. In this thesis work the electronics for a miniature star tracker has been developed. A star detection algorithm has been implemented in hardware logic, tested and verified. A platform for continued work is presented and future improvements of the current implementation are discussed.

The EnergyKids Pilot Study: Comparing Energy Balance of Primary School Children during School and Summer CampFranchini, Cinzia, Rosi, Alice, Ricci, Cristian, Scazzina, Francesca 21 April 2023 (has links)
Children’s energy requirements may vary during school and summer camp days. To evaluate energy balance during these two periods, seventy-eight children (45% females, 8–10 years) living in Parma, Italy, were enrolled in this observational study. Participants completed a 3-day food diary and wore an activity tracker for three consecutive days during a school- and a summer camp-week to estimate energy intake (EI) and energy expenditure (TEE). Height and body weight were measured at the beginning of each period to define children’s weight status. BMI and EI (school: 1692 ± 265 kcal/day; summer camp: 1738 ± 262 kcal/day) were similar during both periods. Both physical activity and TEE (summer camp: 1948 ± 312; school: 1704 ± 263 kcal/day) were higher during summer camp compared to school time. Therefore, energy balance was more negative during summer camp (−209 ± 366 kcal/day) compared to school time (−12 ± 331 kcal/day). Similar results were observed when males and females were analyzed separately but, comparing the sexes, males had a higher TEE and a more negative energy balance than females, during both periods. The results strongly suggest that an accurate evaluation of children’s energy balance, that considers both diet and physical activity, is needed when planning adequate diets for different situations.
