The purpose of this project has been to create a prototype that uses AR functions. The goal with this has been to use it to enable users to place furniture that is seen in pictures, in a real environment such as their home or an office. For this to happen, a design process has been used where information and the collection of data has happened. This data has since formed the basis for being able to create a number of different prototypes with two different approaches. These were Figma and Unity. The results from this project are two different prototypes that show users how AR can be used in the interior design industry or similar domains. This result has received positive feedback and has shown that there is a future potential, but that more work is required, for example, the addition of several distinct functions.

Utveckling inom Augmented Reality med Unity / Development in Augmented Reality with UnityBjörnander, Daniel, Gezelius, Måns, Gustafsson, Emil, Leow, Raymond, Lidstedt, Joakim, Noring, Ludvig, Petersson, Nils, Pålsson, Jonatan, Ångman, Mikael January 2016 (has links)

Reflections on Hindi and historyPace, Colin Gaylon 02 October 2014 (has links)
In this paper, I consider historical periods, linguistic categories, and social theories in relation to Hindi in order to trace out the character and trajectory of the language. From sixteenth-century courtly contexts, to the adoption of the Devanagari script in the twentieth century by nationalists, Hindi has a polyvalent and yet specific history. I discuss these contexts in which social contact led to linguistic change and in which Hindi acquired many of the lexical, syntactical, and phonological characteristics by which it is recognized today. I conclude with a section that considers the motif of language and power, and I suggest that the production of knowledge and power in language use, offers both the means of distinction and expression or, in another sense, of hierarchy and communitas. A thread that runs throughout the paper is attention to the contexts in which language use enables elaboration and in which elaboration is eschewed in order to attain social unity. Pursuing a descriptive historical-linguistic project, I neither affirm nor deny the politics of such language use, but rather I indicate the ways in which actors and agents use Hindi to help articulate their agency. / text

U.S. Coast Guard reorganization: why merging the field units is not enough to remain Semper Paratus (always ready) / United States Coast Guard reorganizationGreene, Lawrence E. 03 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the U.S. Coast Guard shifted much of its effort toward Maritime Homeland Security activities. In response to this major shift in mission priorities, the Coast Guard is merging its Operational and Marine Safety field units into Sector commands. This reorganization is designed to ensure unity of effort, allow more efficient use of resources, improve training of Coast Guard members, and ensure better customer service. This thesis shows that further reorganization will be necessary at the operational and strategic levels of the Coast Guard. The organization-wide changes recommended by the author will allow the Coast Guard to align with the new Sector field commands, better align with the other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security, and ensure the critical tenets of unity of command, unity of direction, and unity of accountability are realized. Research data gathered for this project included surveys, personal interviews, and a use-case. The author also conducted a detailed review of documents produced at a Coast Guard Reorganization Summit, other internal Coast Guard documents, and the published literature. Based on the results of this study, the author offers 10 recommendations for the leaders of the post-9/11 Coast Guard. / Lieutenant Commander, United States Coast Guard

Ortografie Augustova Summovníku / Orthography of Augusta's SummovníkŠmídová, Kateřina January 2013 (has links)
This thesis presents graphemic analysis of the work "Summovník" by Jan Augusta, based on transliteration of selected stretches of texts. Identified as late as in 2012, the work has not been described yet. The work represents a print of the humanistic period, therefore the principal objective was to find out how two orthographic systems of the period - diagraphic and diacritic - interact. The analysis was divided into several chapters corresponding to the examined features that were statistically evaluated. The interpretation was especially based on two key 16th century grammars of Czech - the Grammar of Náměšť and the "Czech Grammar" by Jan Blahoslav. The transliterated text has been analysed in Microsoft Word 2007 by means of "Find and Replace" with "Use of substitute characters" instrument. The work of "Summovník" in this partially transliterated form can be used as a baseline for preparation of an edition of this work.

O perspectivismo e o projeto leibniziano de conciliação das filosofias / The perspectivism and the Leibnizs project of conciliation of PhilosophiesHirata, Celi 30 June 2008 (has links)
Assim, a fim de dar conta de como este projeto de conciliação das filosofias é possível, examinar-se-á nesta dissertação a tese de que cada mônada representa o universo inteiro de uma determinada perspectiva, exame no qual se enfatizará as noções leibnizianas de espírito, de conhecimento e de sistema / Willing to found metaphysics toward right knowledge, Descartes denies the preceding Philosophy history on the basis that the plurality of opinions and disputes this Philosophy holds is not acceptable under the unity of true and reason. As a result, Philosophy cannot evolve toward the future unless by breaking up with the past, a rupture that operates by way of the methodic doubt. Leibniz, in contrast, advocates that the evolution of knowledge toward the discovery of new truths can and should resume what was established antecedently. This is so because, unlike Descartes, the author of Monadology conceives the plurality-unity relationship in a different way, which one has the privilege to infer from his thesis that each monad or created being represents the entire universe from a certain perspective. Now, since all representations have the same referent the world , all are true and harmonic in relation to each other, and thus what varies is how the world is represented, i.e., the degrees of distinction in the representation. Therefore, the plurality of philosophic systems results in differences (where one is more perfect than another and certain parts are more relevant than others within a system) but not in a radical heterogeneity. Indeed, precisely without considering that some convenience underlies the diversity of philosophies, one cannot attempt to conciliate them in what would be the best in them, i.e., if an irreducible heterogeneity does exist, as Descartes proposes, then there is no point of convergency. Therefore, in order to apprehend how this project of conciliation of philosophies is possible, this paper will address the thesis that each monad represents the entire universe from a certain perspective, with an emphasis on Leibnizs notions of spirit, knowledge, and system

Homophrosyne and women in the IliadFisher, Rachel 07 November 2018 (has links)
From its outset, the Iliad stitches women into the fabric of its story with purpose. How women relate to men is of paramount concern to the poem from the theft of Briseis in Bk. 1 to the closing laments of Bk. 24. Yet studies of men and women’s relationships have largely focused on relative positions of power or on the separation between male and female worlds. This study of male-female relationships of the Iliad takes its inspiration from Odysseus’ exhortation to Nausicaa in Odyssey 6. There the hero endorses ὁμοφροσύνη (“like-mindedness”) between a man and woman as an ideal for a successful relationship and well-maintained household. At its core, Odysseus’ recommendation calls for harmony between two people’s minds and thoughts; however, it does not provide a prescription for how that harmony may be achieved. This dissertation examines how Iliadic women interact with their men and discovers an array of relationships exhibiting what may be called a form of ὁμοφροσύνη, even amid disagreement and strain in a time of stress.
In the Iliad, male-female relationships at their best are marked by a way of listening and communicating that helps to absorb or move past conflict and division, that expresses shared understanding, and that seeks out some form of resolution, even if that resolution proves ultimately impermanent. Since each pairing of characters is unique, so too is the manner in which characters attempt or express harmony with their partners. This like-mindedness (ὁμοφροσύνη), however, is not guaranteed to last, or even be present, nor does the poem give it the same compass in every pair. Sometimes we are shown a potential for ὁμοφροσύνη that does not or will not fully actualize, and sometimes we are made privy to the resonance or echoes of a past like-mindedness that is now in crisis.
The chapters of this dissertation are arranged by the Iliad’s four central women. Chapter 1 discusses Hekabe’s interactions with Priam and Hector. Chapter 2 investigates Helen’s relationships with Priam, Paris, and Hector. Chapter 3 considers Andromache’s complex relationship with Hector. And Chapter 4 looks at Briseis’ relationships with Achilles and Patroclus. / 2020-11-07T00:00:00Z

The Mixed Coniferous-Broadleaf forest, mainly represented by the presence of Araucaria angustifolia, is highly important to the southern region of Brazil, the economic interest in this species led to a heavy exploration during the first half of the 20th century. The purpose of the Araucárias National Park is to preserve remnants of the forests with great presence of Araucaria angustifolia; therefore, the comprehension of the behavior of the phenological dynamic of the forest covers is a way of assisting the management and handling of these areas. Thereby, the goal is to apply a methodology based on harmonic analysis of EVI / MODIS time series to perform characterization and phenological mapping of the different vegetation covers present in Araucarias National Park; for that, it is intended to identify the medial values of EVI during the whole time series for different types of coverage of soil use and occupation, analyzing the relation between the phenological variations with precipitation data and maximum temperature, representing these variations of amplitude, phase and additive term for a complete series and individually for each year. Based on the HANTS algorithm, the harmonic analysis was applied to a time series of ten years, comprised between 2006 and 2015. Starting from this processing, images of the phase, amplitude and additive term were analyzed by means of four previously selected samples, representing the four main vegetation covers present in the park. In order to assist the visual interpretation of data, the images were converted from RGB to HLS. When all data was generated, it was possible to characterize how the variation in the value of vegetation indices happen throughout the year, as well as the time of the year when the biggest variations occur. Besides, it is possible to indicate the areas with significant changes in the use of soil, or changes caused by climatic events or by the vegetation own development. Through the data extracted with the harmonic analysis and the identification of the different phenologies, a classification was also generated on the time series, in order to identify the areas that still present remnants of Araucaria angustifolia predominantly.Ultimately, it is concluded that the application of a methodology based on the harmonic series enables a better comprehension of the forest covers present in this unity of conservation, generating useful information for the management and possible review of the management plan. For future application, the use of this methodology in a time series with greater spatial resolution is expected.

Divine love in the Moroccan Sufi tradition : Ibn ‘Ajība (d. 1224/1809) and his oceanic exegesis of the Qur’ānIbrahim, Omneya Nabil Muhammad January 2018 (has links)
Aḥmad Ibn ‘Ajība (d. 1224/1809) is one of the prominent Sufi mystics who lived in Morocco during the 13th/ 17th century. His importance in Sufi scholarship is a reflection of the fact that he is one of the original Sufi scholars who contributed immensely to elucidating ambiguous Sufi concepts that were, by their very nature, enigmatic and only accessible through Sufi adepts. He also stood out as an intellectual theoretician in the science of Qur’ānic esoteric hermeneutics because he was one of the few scholars who managed to convey theoretical concepts and esoteric theories of Qur’ānic interpretation in a language that could be accessed by those with an average level of intellect. One of these theories is the concept of divine love. In this thesis, I propose to address the concept of divine love in Aḥmad Ibn ‘Ajība’s famous exegesis of the Qurān al-Baḥr al-madīd fī tafsīr al-Qur’ān al-majīd (Oceanic Exegesis of the Qurān). Over the course of this thesis, I endeavor to show how Ibn ‘Ajība combined what has been extensively written on the subject of divine love by different Sufi saints and mystics with the mystical exegesis of the Qur’ān. Ibn ‘Ajība is one of the early Sufis who connected theoretical works on the concept of divine love and practically applied them to the Qur’ān’s verses on love. This unique combination was an important breakthrough in the Sufi literature which other Sufi scholars then built upon in offering an exegesis of the Qur’ān - Shaykh Aḥmad Ibn Muṣṭafā al-‘Alawī (d.1934) was particularly important in this respect. Explaining the concept of divine love through his mystical interpretation of the love verses in the Qur’ān ultimately aspire to connect the purpose of creation (which was due to the Creator’s love for His creation), to the turning point (the return of the creation to the Creator). This symphony of love that is an essential component of the story of creation is well-defined, clearly stated and deeply analyzed in Ibn ‘Ajība’s work. He also met the challenge of overcoming the elliptical mystical language of exposition that was used by earlier Sufis; accordingly, he successfully simplified the ambiguous style of writing and decoded their enigmatic mystical doctrines. I hope that an analysis of Ibn ‘Ajība’s concept of divine love will stimulate the appetite of academic researchers to investigate the scholarly works of this luminary, and thus highlight his significance in the wider Sufi tradition. Ibn ‘Ajība's works have in general not received sufficient attention and deserve deeper and more sustained analysis.
