A paixão e o insólito em Horácio Quiroga e Murilo Rubião

Cândido, Reginaldo Aparecido 09 August 2010 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-03-15T19:46:58Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Reginaldo Aparecido Candido.pdf: 447853 bytes, checksum: 19f2ffc8c0f05d449566a3e09f907929 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-08-09 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / Literature can present fantasy and passion inextricably connected by applying unusual elements that are mixed or interrelated and, thus, create the effect of a reality based on uncertainty. In order to understand the intersection of passion and fantasy, we have chosen the work of two masters of the literary art: Horacio Quiroga and Murilo Rubião. Four of their short stories, which are going to be studied in this dissertation, show the path to understanding the mechanisms through which passions are used as the basic condition to the emergence of fantasy in order to take the reader into a universe of strange responses and reactions to the real world. The unusual outcome of the stories analyzed by us reveals the relevance of the complex passion in leading the characters into a life of resignation or death, once this complicity between passion and fantasy determines the characters. reaction to elements that are foreign to reality.

Compréhension du métabolisme central et lipidique chez les plantes et les levures oléagineuses : approche fluxomique / Understanding of central and lipid metabolism in oleaginous plants and yeasts : fluxomic approach

Degournay, Anthony 19 October 2018 (has links)
Growing world population and depletion of fossil resources have led to an increasing food and energy demand. While oleaginous plants are mostly cultivated for their fruits or their seeds in food industry, they are also valued in as an alternative to petrochemicals (biolubricant, biofuels). The production of lipids and unusual fatty acids increased the interest for unicellular organisms: yeasts. The aim of this work is to study two biological models: flax seed (Linum usitatissimum), whose oil is made up of 57% omega-3, and yeast Yarrowia lipolytica, exploited as a biotechnological chassis. The approach used to understand lipid metabolism is fluxomics. In addition, the development of a predictive model based on isotopic labelling (MFA) or constraint-based one (FBA) allows a dynamic analysis of the metabolism. The comparative study of three flax lines (with different oil and omega-3 levels) provided a better understanding of the mechanisms leading to lipid accumulation (up to 44.2 g.100 gDW-1). Therefore, we have been able to show that sucrose assimilation and starch remobilization are essential for fatty acid precursors and cofactors synthesis. Strong involvements of cytosolic glycolysis (G3P, acetyl-CoA) and pentose phosphate pathway (NADPH) have been noted, while protein and cell wall synthesis are limiting steps. In addition, PDAT would be a central enzyme for the incorporation of PUFA into TAGs. The study of three Yarrowia lipolytica strains also helped us to better understand yeast metabolism. The assimilation of an alternative carbone source to glucose, glycerol, led to a major metabolic redirection towards gluconeogenesis. The TAG synthesis flux especially uses glycolysis and a part of TCA cycle to convert citrate into acetyl-CoA. Kennedy pathway optimizations (GPD1 and DGA2 gene overexpression) allowed a lipid content improvement: +72% compared to a strain optimized for the synthesis of unusual fatty acids (LRO1 gene expression, encoding for a PDAT enzyme). The main competitive pathways are carbohydrate synthesis (glycogen) and citrate secretion (here repressed thanks to slow glucose assimilation. PDAT (LRO1 gene) also led to unusual fatty acid accumulation.

I Normalitetens Gränsland : hur närstående berättar om en kvinnas övernaturliga förmåga / In the Borderland of Normality : How Closely Related Talk About a Woman's Supernatural Ability

Debrianté, Camilla January 2011 (has links)
My essay explores how people talk about a woman´s supernatural ability in relation to normality and abnormality. In order to find this out I´ve made interviews with people inclose relations to Hildur Lawergren. Hildur lived all her life in Fole on Gotland where she was often interviewed in local papers and on the radio about her predictions on the coming weather. She used melted candles to make her predictions. The candles were melted down on Christmas eve. From patterns that the melted candles made Hildur claimed to make out pictures in her mind of the coming weather. When I analyzed my interviews I could see how the people close to Hildur struggled with understanding Hildurs ability. They had to find ways to handle the borders between normal and accepted abilitys and Hildurs more unusual ability. People often confronted Hildurs close relatives with questions of how the ability functions and if the relatives also had the ability. In some ways the people closest to Hildur separated her ability from the person Hildur, that was a beloved mother and grandmother. This shows when they mention the ability as “it” or “that”. I´ve concluded that the ability is seen as inheritable and is then possible to develop further using certain techniques. But if a person has not inherited the ability from birth it’s not at all possible to develop it later.

This dissertation has the goal of approaching the “Reisado do Senhor do Bomfim” under the spectacle’s point of view, this spectacle happens at Piau town, Piranhas municipality, Alagoas. / The thesis, O Caleidoscópio de José J. Veiga: structural intersections in unusual narratives, accomplishes comparative analysis among texts of José J. Veiga (1915- 1999), namely, Os do outro lado, inserted in Os Cavalinhos de Platiplanto (1995), Sombras de reis barbudos (1995) and the short stories: Aladino (anonym), A chinela turca (1974) of Machado de Assis and Casa Tomada (1980), of Júlio Cortázar. This study also includes the analysis of Veiga’s novel, A casca da serpente (1994). Immanenet approaches lie in the above-mentioned procedures since considerations of the following scholarly people: Tzvetan Todorov, Roger Caillois, Lovecraft, Irène Bessière, Wayne C. Booth, Norman Friedman, Gerárd Genette, Linda Hutcheon and Bakhtin (partly). Presuppositons about fantastical and amazing realistic narratives arise, mainly from Felipe Furtado, Harry Belevan, Óscar Hahn, Francisca Coalla, Bella Josef, José Paulo Paes, Alejo Carpentier, Irlemar Chiampi and Jorge Schwartz’s reflections. As for the concepts of the new historical novel, the study rilies on Seymour Menton and Fernando Aínsa’s positions. Such analytical experiments intend to show that, though the literary construction of the supernatural thing involves formal-thematic variabilities, the dominant elements meet. So, Veiga’s narratives and correlate other ones result in “kaleidoscope images”, diverse and equivalente ones in a paradoxical way.

Mar me quer, de Mia Couto, entre as literaturas do insólito e juvenil / Mar que me quer of Mia Couto, among the literaturs of the unusual and youth

Nanci do Carmo Alves 21 June 2013 (has links)
The books edition, available for purchase, measures 24.5 cm high by 17.3 cm wide; Its hardcover has a vibrant green background with colorful illustration, eight drawings made by Nasi John Pereira along its eight chapters; sixty-eight pages in total - considering, among them, the illustrative pages and blank ones- which fall in the midst of the literature aimed at children and adolescents. To its concealing format, one should join the manifestation of the fantasized sort of reality, in terms of fictional discourse - at various times and in different categories of narrative: action, characters, places and times of the fictional unusual trait which destabilizes the realistic mimesis, committed to empirical reality, the common sense. By highlighting this fantastic aspect of the narrative, the writer manages to situate his work in the universe - already foreshadowed - of the child and juvenile literature, as well as within the literary strands of the fantastic -in the broadest sense. A journey through the story of Zeca Perpétuo and Luarmina, central characters of the narrative, leads to a walk through the seas of these literatures in which the unusual bursts, leading readers to the emerging tensions of a world filled with myths, legends and beliefs of this telluric land in Africa, Mozambique

Movements, fishery interactions, and unusual mortalities of bottlenose dolphins

Shippee, Steven 01 January 2014 (has links)
Bottlenose dolphins inhabiting coastlines and estuaries in Florida have been impacted in the past decade by development, algal blooms, catastrophic pollution, and fishery interactions (FI). Dolphins react to disturbance and environmental stressors by modifying their movements and habitat use, which may put them in jeopardy of conflict with humans. FI plays an increasing role in contributing to dolphin mortalities. I investigated dolphin movements, habitat use, residency patterns, and frequency of FI with sport fishing. Tagging studies with short-term data tags and bolt on radio-transmitters were done in several locations in Florida and the east coast providing fine-scale measurements of swimming, daily travels, and foraging activity. Transit speeds agreed with the predicted mean cost of transport as dolphins spent much of their day and night travelling and resting while swimming. Increased foraging was detected by stomach temperature changes revealing dolphins fed at night with a peak starting just after sunset. Dolphin abundance, site fidelity, ranging, stranding mortality, and community structure was characterized at Choctawhatchee and Pensacola Bays in the Florida Panhandle via surveying and photo-identification. Results showed they made frequent inshore movements, maintained site fidelity to specific areas, and comprised several distinct communities. FI was assessed at offshore reefs and coastal fishing piers near Destin, FL and Orange Beach, AL, showing that some dolphins demonstrate affinity to this activity. Harmful interactions with dolphins on reefs and at fishing piers negatively affect their resident communities. Mitigation of FI is suggested by use of avoidance strategies, gear modifications, and improved fish release practices.

Marketingové oživení Cool tour linky / Marketing Revival of 'Cool tour linka'

Majerová, Jolana January 2010 (has links)
The theme of this master's thesis is "Marketing Revival of 'Cool tour linka'". 'Cool tour linka' is a joint project of Prague's leading exhibition institutions and transport company. Introductory part presents the project with the aim to preserve it "for next generations" too. 'Cool tour linka' was terminated due to economical reasons. Therefore the thesis leads to formation of a new project, that would work under even less favourable conditions. Conclusions from the chapters that analyse the previous 'Cool tour linka' (analysis of the visitors' attendance, application of marketing tools, SWOT analysis) are used in the new project. Both the original and the newly proposed 'Cool tour linka' emphasize the element of cooperation of the organisations operating in the field of culture and the importance of unusual presentation of arts collections to the public.

Postoje žáků ke školnímu podvádění. / Attitudes of pupils to school cheating.

Vodrážková, Jana January 2018 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on the research of school cheating in pupils of the second level of elementary schools. Based on a self-reporting questionnaire survey, the aim of the thesis is to find out what motivates the pupils to cheat and what attitude they take to possibly punish detected fraud. Another goal is to find out the frequency of individual types of school cheating, the influence of gender and the learning benefit of school cheating. It has been found that pupils are relatively often used in cheating on the internet at the primary school. Also, there was greater tolerance for cheating when pupils do not attach the importance of punishment for an exposed fraud, rather they would not punish their exposed classmates. Key words: dishonest behavior, unusual cheating, electronic cheating, elementary school pupils, motivation to cheat

Valorisation des plantes tunisiennes pour leur accumulation d’huiles et de composés bioactifs au cours de leur développement : application dans la protection des aliments / Valorization of tunisian plants for their accumulation of oils and bioactive compounds during their development : application in food protection

Ksouda, Ghada 14 December 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study is to identify bioactive oils and compounds in seeds from the semi-arid to arid region of "Regueb" in central Tunisia. Several species contained high amounts of oil mainly composed of classic fatty acids. High amounts of petroselinic acid, an unusual fatty acid, have been detected in species of the family Apiaceae, in particular P. major and P. saxifraga. The seeds ofAP. graveolens, An. graveolens, P. saxifraga and L. sativum were rich in oil and functional phenolic compounds. The accumulation of these compounds in growing seeds has been studied for P. major, P. saxifraga and L. sativum. Several seed contained essential oils with antibacterial properties such as those of P. saxifraga, AP. graveolens and C. sativum, which contained anethole, dillapiole and linalool. The essential oil of P. saxifraga seeds (PSEO) was, for the first time, tested in an edible coating based on sodium alginate for the preservation of fresh cheese. An evaluation of its toxicity in the mice allowed the determination of the dose range without any harmful effect. The edible coating of sodium alginate enriched with PSEO has improved the preservation of the fresh Sicilian cheese by preserving pH and color, reducing lipid peroxidation and improving bacterial stability. Sensory analysis showed a strong appreciation of coated cheese in presence of PSEO
