Marriages and families are currently under tremendous pressure. Many marriages and families battle to adapt to changing life circumstances. They have become ignorant about the Divinely intended substance of relationships and are barely surviving. These marriages break up and end up in unhappiness and many times in the breaking up thereof.
During the past 40 years there have been many attempts by state and church to stop the deterioration of marriages and family relationships and to put back the essential qualities of life. Many marriage enrichment programmes have been initiated and many couples and families have been encouraged to participate. Social programmes have been discussed and marriage and family initiatives have been launched during these programmes. This has brought hope in many communities.
In this confused world of relativism and adaptation people have found some anchor points for their relationships and have found new meaning in their existence. However the question still remains: Do these programs just give a temporary surge of enthusiasm? To move from one program to another and to attend the one course after the other, does not bring a lasting solution. Courses and programs cannot function as crutches from which to get support for wavering marriages and family life. Couples and family members must be equipped in an integral way to revive their marriage and family life. They must be taught to become aware of the richness of happenings and memories that make relationships special and integrate these into their relationships.
Rituals (for example: Baptism and Holy Communion) have helped church and humanity through the ages, to look past stale relationships and circumstances, to discover anchors in life and get through traumatic events. These rituals have been the reason for so many unique outcomes in stale relationships and have opened a new future for individuals and groups where none was evident.
During this study these rituals have been seen as long–term assistance for marriages and families for the maintenance, extension and dynamics thereof. Rituals with the help of the development line of narrative research methodology, have been put in place to help couples and families to a better understanding and support of each other. They put new life into relationships, to build attainable future dreams and have given the opportunity for partners to move away from stale relationships to more hopeful relationships. The value of the local enrichment program as a safe environment for growth, adaptation and the integral implementation of meaningful rituals in marriage and family life, cannot be stressed enough.
Within this enrichment program, with its relevant rituals, relationships are dynamically turned to the future. Believe in the existence of relationship has been found. Energy has been given to couples and families to live more purposefully. They are more creative and have a better understanding of each other. The antecedents and outcomes of work-family enrichment among female workers / Esandré MaraisMarais, Esandré January 2014 (has links)
The roles of females have changed significantly over the past years as females increasingly are entering the labour market in South Africa. This resulted in females having to fulfil multiple roles simultaneously, for example being mother, wife and employee. Therefore the statement can be made that females have a work life and a family life to contend with. This can be enriching, seeing that these domains can generate experiences and resources, which females can use in other domains to enhance the quality.
The general objective of this study was to explore various relationships that females experience between work resources, home resources, work engagement, family engagement and work-family enrichment. A cross-sectional survey design was used in this study. A combined purposive and convenience non-probability sample of female workers (N = 420) was taken across the spectrum of several industries in South Africa. Measuring instruments were used for biographical characteristics, work resources (self-developed), home resources (self-developed), work-family enrichment (MACE Work-Family Enrichment Instrument), work engagement (Utrecht Engagement Scale) and family engagement (adapted Utrecht Work Engagement Scale). Omegas and Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were used to determine the reliability of the findings, while correlations were employed to identify significant relationships between the constructs. The dual work-family enrichment models and the mediating effect of the various dimensions of work-to-family enrichment, as well as family-to-work enrichment, were also tested by the Mplus statistical programme. Two models in which work-family enrichment and family-work enrichment act as mediators were also tested.
The results indicated a positive statistical significant relationship between work resources, and work-family enrichment; also between home resources, and family-work enrichment; and between work-family enrichment and work engagement. However, a very small, but statistical significant, relationship was shown to exist between family-work enrichment and family engagement. Work-family enrichment also mediated the relationship, with a large effect, between work resources, with work engagement as outcome and family-work enrichment mediated the relationship, with a small effect, between home resources, with family engagement as outcome.

Realising the objectives of the South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod : a case study / Theodore K.A. DzorkpeyDzorkpey, Theodore Kwadzo Agbelie January 2010 (has links)
The realisation of the objectives of the South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod
(SASCE) is influenced by the national education system and the environment it
operates in. This thesis accordingly studies the SASCE within the organisational
framework of the Department of National Education. It provides a comprehensive
description of the factors that influence the achievement of the objectives of the
SASCE in the FET band in the Motheo district of the Free State Province.
South African national education policy provides for a single unified democratic
system for the organisation, governance and funding of schools. The Department
of National Education formulates policy and provinces are responsible for its
implementation by means of district offices. In this respect the education system is
regarded as an organisation consisting of different sub–organisations that must
provide effective education in line with the educational needs of the country. A
generic five–point model of effective organisational structure accordingly was
applied to determine the factors impacting on the realisation of the objectives of
SASCE.
Data were gathered and analysed by means of personal observations, document
analysis and semi–structured interviews with education officials, school principals
and choir conductors.
The challenges of the national education system with regard to appropriate
facilities, equipment, funding, appropriately trained officials and educators, support
staff and effective policy implementation are consistent with the challenges facing
the Department of National Education’s enrichment programmes, of which the
SASCE forms part.
Findings and recommendations are offered for all research questions. A general
recommendation pertains to a proposed restructuring of the provincial enrichment
programmes sub–directorate in order to address some of its organisational
