SILVA, Juraci Brito da 08 April 2016 (has links)
Submitted by Jorge Silva (jorgelmsilva@ufrrj.br) on 2017-05-12T18:56:18Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2016 - Juraci Brito da Silva.pdf: 2607265 bytes, checksum: 0b91359564acfe8f799a482ea8c184e2 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2017-05-12T18:56:18Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 2016 - Juraci Brito da Silva.pdf: 2607265 bytes, checksum: 0b91359564acfe8f799a482ea8c184e2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-04-08 / This study aims to know how male adolescents deprived of freedom perceive the possibility of the conjugal visit in the DEGASE-RJ (General Department of Social Educational Actions in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil). The law 12.594 ? SINASE ? from 2012, establishes, for married adolescents, the privilege of a conjugal visit. This law is founded on the guarantee of family and couple bonds maintenance. The hypothesis is that this right will promote a discussion about adolescents? sexuality and body. However, the assurances of the Children and Adolescent Statute (ECA), constructed on the full protection principle, are not totally exercised. This open the topic to discussions and practices based on the irregular situation of the Youngsters Code. The methodology used was the intervention research claimed by Ren? Lourau, established on the institutional analysis theories. The device concept, by Deleuze, was chosen to think the intimate visit more than just a right, but as an instrument to cause debates about youngsters? sexuality, which has little relevance in the social-education institution. The data collected from the interviews was interpreted considering the analysis of implication, because it is the assumption of the non-neutrality. From May to June, 2015, 08 adolescents were identified as able to conjugal visit. First, they were listened in two group of four. Then the interviews were made individually using a semi-structured questionnaire. The field diary helped on the discussion about the effects of some institutionalized praxis reflected on the imprisoned juveniles? subjective. As results, it is possible to highlight the DEGASE standard characteristic and it difficulty in manage the differences. From the adolescent?s point of view, the intimate visit might be face naturally, although, they were worried about some possible violation of their pairs during the process. Even though there is difficulty in accept the homoaffective relationship, the institution is open to dialogue. Despite the fact that it has some limitations and, for security, the homosexual adolescents are placed in, so called, ?safe? places. The discussion about gender face the heteronormative logic, potentialized by the common sense that prison is ?place for males? Lourau dentro do arcabou?o da an?lise institucional.

Modulation of Alpha-Subunit VISIT-DG Sequence Residues Ser-347, Gly-351 and Thr-349 in the Catalytic Sites of Escherichia coli ATP Synthase.

Brudecki, Laura Elaine 18 December 2010 (has links)
Binding of inorganic phosphate (Pi) in ATP synthase catalytic sites is a crucial step for the synthesis of adenosine-5'-triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the fundamental means of cellular energy in almost every organism, and in order to gain insight into the regulation of ATP catalysis, critical amino acid residues responsible for binding Pi must be identified. Here, we investigate the role of highly conserved α-subunit VISIT-DG sequence residues αSer-347, αGly-351, and αThr-349 in Pi binding. Mutations αS347A/Q, αG351Q, αT349A/D/R, βR182A, and αT349R/βR182A were generated via site directed mutagenesis. Results from biochemical assays showed that αSer-347 is required for transition state stabilization and Pi binding whereas αGly-351 is only indirectly involved in Pi binding and most likely maintains structural integrity of the catalytic site. Results from preliminary experiments on αThr-349 mutants suggest that the residue may be involved in Pi binding; however, further investigation is required to fully test this hypothesis.

Health educators’ perceived preparedness to provide the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services’s Annual Wellness Visit

Eldridge Houser, Jennifer L 01 August 2019 (has links)
The Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) is a benefit available to Medicare beneficiaries. This benefit has the potential to address many areas of prevention in one focused visit to the primary care clinic, yet it is currently being provided to only 19% of Medicare beneficiaries. This research attempted to examine the extent to which certified health education specialists (CHES) have provided and perceive themselves to be prepared to provide the preventive health services (PHS) within the AWV, along with seven additional preventive counseling services (PCS). A web-based survey assessed the perceived preparedness of health educators, specifically CHES (N=998), to deliver these PHS. The results of these surveys include the development of a single factor internally consistent scale to measure perceived preparedness for the PHS within the AWV. They reveal health educators were least prepared to assist with end-of-life-planning and conduct a basic hearing test. No association was found for education level and perceived preparedness; however, prior experience did account for a significant amount of the variance in perceived preparedness to provide AWV services. Lastly, when compared to historical data regarding physician’s perceived preparedness to provide PCS, health educators were more prepared to counsel on diet and exercise and less prepared to counsel on six other PCS. These results may aid in the understanding of whether CHES perceive they are prepared to provide (PHS) and demonstrate the experience CHES have with each of these PHS.

The Influence of Clinically Meaningful Factors on the Performance of the Recommended Annual Diabetic Foot Screening

Sando, Trisha A 01 January 2018 (has links)
Background: Diabetic foot ulcers are the result of multiple complications from hyperglycemia and lead to poor quality of life and high healthcare costs. The annual diabetes foot screening exam (ADFSE) and prevention interventions can reduce DFUs up to 75%. In 2015, 71% of the US population received the ADFSE. Objectives: The main objectives of this dissertation were: 1) to determine the association between adherence to diabetes self-management behaviors and the ADFSE, 2) to determine the association between concordant and discordant comorbidities and the ADFSE and 3) to determine the association between the performance of diabetes preventive care processes, number of office visits for diabetes and the completion of the ADFSE. Methods: Three cross-sectional studies used data from the 2015 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. Logistic regression models were evaluated to assess the association between the self-management behaviors and the ADFSE. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to assess the simultaneous, direct effects of concordant and discordant comorbidity loads on the ADFSE and the performance of diabetes preventive care processes and the number of office visits for diabetes care on the ADFSE. Results: In 2015, between 78.2% and 80.4% of the US population with diabetes received the ADFSE. Performance of the ADFSE was 77% less likely (OR: 0.33, 95%CI: 0.25-0.44) in those who do not perform self-foot inspections and 40% (OR: 0.59, 95%CI: 0.45-0.76) less likely in those who have never received the pneumococcal vaccination. Receiving the ADFSE was 50-80% less likely in patients who do not self-monitor blood glucose at least one time per day, depending on insulin use and receipt of diabetes education. Neither concordant comorbidities (β=0.226, p=0.086) nor discordant comorbidities (β=0.080, p=0.415) had a direct association with the performance of the ADFSE. The collection of preventive care processes demonstrated a 7% (OR: 1.07, 95% CI: 1.05-1.10) increase in the likelihood the ADFSE was performed Conclusions: Performance of the ADFSE may be improved through multiple types of interventions. Patient-based interventions to increase adherence to self-management behaviors is one route. Programs to improve overall diabetes care in the clinical setting may also help to further improve completion of the ADFSE.

Kan konkurrenter samarbeta? : En studie av samarbetsprojektet Visit South East Sweden

Höglund, Lina, Olsson, Charlotte January 2010 (has links)

Improving memorability in fisheye views

Skopik, Amy Caroline 01 September 2004
Interactive fisheye views use distortion to show both local detail and global context in the same display space. Although fisheyes allow the presentation and inspection of large data sets, the distortion effects can cause problems for users. One such problem is lack of memorability the ability to find and go back to objects and features in the data. This thesis examines the possibility of improving the memorability of fisheye views by adding historical information to the visualization. The historical information is added visually through visit wear, an extension of the concepts of edit wear and read wear. This will answer the question Where have I been? through visual instead of cognitive processing by overlaying new visual information on the data to indicate a users recent interaction history. This thesis describes general principles of visibility in a space that is distorted by a fisheye lens and defines some parameters of the design space of visit wear. Finally, a test system that applied the principles was evaluated, and showed that adding visit wear to a fisheye system improved the memorability of the information space.

Turism i Stockholms skärgård : - ur ett exportmognadsperspektiv

Boustedt, Anna, Löfgren, Susanne January 2011 (has links)
Abstract The objective of this thesis is to examine and analyse how key actors in the Stockholm archipelago area seek to develop a destination mature enough for an international launch. To fulfill our objectives we focused on the following research question: · How do the key actors work with destination development and destination marketing in the Stockholm archipelago area to attract more international visitors? Stockholm archipelago consists of nearly 30 000 islands and established as a Swedish tourist paradise in the early 1900s. Still today is the archipelago regarded as a rural idyll and recreational landscape for many owners of country houses and tourists in Sweden. The Stockholm archipelago area is a sparsely populated area and the local inhabitants find that they need support with the promotion of the islands to maintain and expand the economy. The hospitality industry is an important part of the Stockholm archipelago's development, as an increasing number of companies and municipalities realize the opportunities and attraction value of the archipelago from a visitor’s perspective. Stockholm archipelago area is unique in its kind, and an established tourist destination in Sweden, but is it possible to establish the destination on an international market? In order to develop tourism in the archipelago area and to attract the attention of international visitors, the European project Scandinavian Islands was launched. The main objective of the project is to promote the archipelago areas in Sweden, Åland and Finland on three different key markets; Great Britain, Germany and the Netherlands. Although, certain key actors in the Stockholm archipelago area disagree on that the destination is ready for an international launch. They argue that efforts should be directed towards domestic development and regional cooperation instead of an international launch at this stage. Despite the mentioned criticism, the majority of the key actors believe that the archipelago area would benefit from an international launch, attracting important partners and financiers

The Influence of Different Types of Web Page Design on Attitude and Visit Intention of Browsers with Different Information Processing Styles

Lin, Yu-Shan 20 June 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of different types of web page design on browsers' attitudes, figure out if the information processing styles play the moderating roles, and examine the relationship between attitude towards the web page and visit intention. Three web pages are designed specially for this research. They are created in different types, words only, pictures only, and combination of words and pictures. Respondents are undergraduate students, and answer questionnaires online. SPSS 14 is used to perform statistical analyses. Principal findings are summarized as follows. First, there is no significant difference between high and low NFC individuals about attitude towards the web page when the tourism web page presents in words (all-verbal) design. However, when the web page is only composed of pictures without any written description, NFC individuals, without respect to high or low NFC, show much lower level of attitude towards the web page and no differences appear between them. Second, the statistical analysis shows a higher level of attitude towards the web page is associated to high PFA individuals, compared with low PFA individuals, when the tourism web page presents in pictures (all-visual) design. When the tourism web page presents in words design, high and low PFA individuals show much lower level of attitude towards the web page and no differences appear between them. Third, we find that individuals with high NFC and high PFA are significantly different from the other groups when the tourism web page presents in combination (words and pictures) design. They show higher level of attitude towards the web page, compared with the other processor groups. Lastly, result shows that there is a positive correlation between attitude towards the web page and visit intention. Attitude towards the web page has a significant impact on visit intention, namely, higher level of Awp, then higher level of VI.
