Hur påverkas lönsamheten i textilfiltertillverkning då olika grad av automatisering tillämpas? / How does different degrees of automation impact on the profitability in fabric filter manufacturing?

Rosendahl, Filip January 2017 (has links)
The search for profitability in these days’ enterprises is naturally a search for cost savings. Formanufacturing enterprises is often the biggest cost founded in labour. In the search for savingsome of these costs, automated manufacturing is a common and successful solution. Theenterprise Kinna Automatic AB has come up with an automated solution for fabric filtermanufacturing, this solution needs to be investigated to know how it will affect the fabricfilter enterprises’ profitability. This study uses two different degrees of automation, since theautomated sewing line is modularized. The framing of a question for the study is “How doesdifferent degrees of automation impact on the profitability in fabric filter manufacturing?”.The two degrees of automation is in the study compared to the classic way of fabric filtermanufacturing, the manual way. Calculations of productivity shows that the needed labourtime will decrease from an implementation of the automated line. This decrease affects theprofit positively, and the capital turnover decreases from the investment, which then make theprofitability increase for the both degrees of automation. Since the sewing line still is aprototype and not a finished product, it is not ready yet for 100 percent manufacturing. This ofcourse affects the reliability and validity of the study, but not that much since the purpose ofthe study is to give a pointer for what way and how much the profitability affects. The studyshows that the labour costs are being lowered when the two degrees of automationimplements. It gives us the conclution that the two degrees of automation affects theprofitability of the enterprise positively when being implemented.

From commitment to control : a labour process study of workers' experiences of the transition from clerical to call centre work at British Gas

Ellis, Vaughan January 2007 (has links)
Despite their continuing importance to the UK economy and their employment of significant numbers of workers from a range of professions, the utilities have received scant attention from critical scholars of work. This neglect represents a missed opportunity to examine the impact of nearly twenty years of privatisation and marketisation on workers, their jobs and their unions. This thesis aims to make a contribution to knowledge here by investigating, contextualising and explaining changes in the labour processes of a privatised utility in the United Kingdom. The research is informed by oral history methods and techniques, rarely adopted in industrial sociology, and here used alongside labour process theory to reconstruct past experiences of work. Drawing on qualitative data sets, from in-depth interviews with a cohort of employees who worked continuously over three decades at the research site, British Gas’s Granton House, and on extensive company and trade union documentary evidence the research demonstrates how British Gas responded to restrictive regulation and the need to deliver shareholder value by transforming pre-existing forms of work organisation through introducing call centres. The call centre provided the opportunity for management to regain control over the labour process, intensify work and reduce costs. In doing so, the study identifies the principal drivers of organisational change, documents the process of change evaluates the impact on workers’ experience. Thus, as a corrective to much recent labour process theory the research offers both an ‘objective’ and ‘subjective’ account of change over an extended time. The contrast between workers’ experience of working in the clerical departments and in the call centre could not be starker. Almost every element of work from which workers derived satisfaction and purpose was abruptly dismantled. In their place workers had to endure the restrictive and controlling nature of call centre work. The relative absence of resistance to such a transformation is shown to be a consequence of failures in collective organisation, rather than the totalisation of managerial control, as the postmodernists and Foucauldians would have it.

A model to guide a company towards a decision of whether to change the due date of work orders or not: a case study / En modell för att vägleda ett företag mot ett beslut om man ska ändra tidpunkten man har för att färdigställa arbetsorder eller inte: en fallstudie

Andersson, Sofia, Svensson, Olof January 2007 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to develop a model that will guide a company towards a decision of whether to change the current due date of work orders or not. The model will help the company to reveal the technical and financial factors that will be affected and how these factors can be assessed. After accomplishing a thorough literature review, we found no existing practical models in this specific area. We developed a model to cover this gap in the existing theories. A case study approach was used to test the developed model on our case company Elitfönster in Lenhovda who manufactures windows. We applied our model at the processing department and the change concerned going from a weekly to a daily due date of work orders. The technical factors that would be affected by the change of the due date are; setup times, lead time and output of components. The financial factors that will be affected are the tied-up capital and the manning. We found that a change could not be carried through without a purchase of an extra plane. The model also showed that the financial benefits that the change generated could not surpass the costs that an extra plane would cause. Thereby, our recommendations to the case company are to keep the current due date of work orders until the rest of the company can handle the extra components that can be produced after the change.

O processo de trabalho em equipe e a produção do cuidado em saúde: desafios para a estratégia de saúde da família em Nova Iguaçu, RJ / The process of teamwork and production of health care: challenges for the family health strategy in Nova Iguacu, RJ

Cunha, Marcela Silva da January 2010 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2011-05-04T12:36:24Z (GMT). / This study reflects the need to turn to the work process of health teams of a primary health care institution, observing concrete experiences lived in work situations and its implications for the care production. This is a case study in the município de Nova Iguaçu, situated in the região da Baixada Fluminense do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Considering the work team in health´s area, makes necessary the singularities recognition and micropolitic of work in public health services and the possibilities for work´s cooperation. Thus, this study has the principle to observe work´s processes and ways of professionals’ team integration, as well as the management of care in a complex context, that deals with people in fragile situation, uncertainty, suffering, and others lack of needs- beyond the search to contribute for new ways of think and do the team work reflection. Semi-structured interviews were made with primary health care professionals, as well as a participator observation of collective and individual situations experienced by the teams and users of the studied unit. The theoretical field of Health´s Management, Institutional Analysis and French Psycho Sociology guided that research. The main points at the team work process organization concern to alternative ways founded by professionals facing the precarious conditions of work and the challenges that imposes daily for cooperation between professionals´ team and the collective build of care´s process. In the case of complex themes as people´s health, think of a single and ideal concept of work team to be commended, doesn´t seems to us a good way. We still believe, that care is not a static conception, it builds in everyday services, only updates and earn sense in constant movement of society and it changes as the practices transformation in health.
