Our country is a risky position in terms of natural disasters. In the long run, preferentially settlement areas were selected to ensure maximum benefits in terms of both economic and security aspects, other criteria is not taken account when selection of sites. The main purpose of this study is to examine and compare the properties of settlement location based on natural hazard and environmental constraints to be able to understand the interaction between the settlements and natural conditions at the regional scale of YeSilirmak Basin. A MCDA was set up with 10 different data layers in two data domains (environmental and natural hazards domains), are evaluated. The results of the MCDA scores are then transferred to settlement databases in order to evaluate the number of existing settlements in different environmental and natural hazard related suitability classes. It is found that almost 29% of YeSilirmak catchment is environmentally favorable for settlement, and in coherence with that 41% of all existing settlements are located in this zone, indicating a clear preference among the perception of environmentally better places to be settled in. On the other hand with respect to the natural hazards dataset, the locations of the settlements fail to create any preference, as 73,32% of the area is used by 73,50% of existing settlements, which indicates that the perception of natural hazards are low and do not effect settlement criteria, while the acceptable risk of community is high.

This dissertation examines the development of Chinese art film in the 1990s. It explores the mechanisms that were conducive to the emergence of this art wave and its representative cinematic styles. Art film was a historically underdeveloped film practice in China, especially under the mass line-dominated Socialist film system. I argue that Chinese art cinema was fundamentally defined by the second art wave, which was flanked by the first art wave (the Fifth Generation Cinema) of the 1980s, and the full capitalization of the film industry in the new millennium. The key to understanding the second art wave was the paradoxical industrial process of the Socialist film system reform of the 1990s. The controlled top-down reform made the emergence of independent production possible while at the same time denying its legitimacy. As the result, the Chinese art film production breathed new life but was pushed from the mainstream to the realm of the alternative. In alliance with other youth subculture phenomena of the time, such as rock music and avant-garde art, art film came to be defined as a distinctive position in the field of Chinese film production in terms of the mode of production (mostly independent), distribution (international film festivals), and film style. Three styles are examined in detail in this dissertation: the documentary-inspired new realist style represented by films of Jia Zhangke, the modernistic expressionist style represented by films of He Jianjun, Zhang Ming, and others, and the style that falls in-between the new realist and expressionist style represented by early films of Zhang Yuan, Lou Ye, and Wang Xiaoshuai. / text

This thesis is an attempt to analyze the binary oppositions between the &ldquo / rich&rdquo / and the &ldquo / poor&rdquo / as well as the &ldquo / good&rdquo / and the &ldquo / evil&rdquo / in the 1960s&rsquo / YeSil&ccedil / am melodramas. It analyzes the narrative structure of YeSil&ccedil / am melodramas which interweave fiction with certain embedded social values and argues that a number of cooperating and contending discourses interanimate each other in the form of binary oppositions in YeSil&ccedil / am narratives. The cinematic representation of the lower and upper class is analyzed, underlining how the relation between the two was constructed by YeSil&ccedil / am melodramas. The study focuses on the symbolic world established by YeSil&ccedil / am narratives through the use of common meanings attributed to characters (e.g. delikanli and z&uuml / ppe), values (e.g. honesty, modesty, ostentation and artificialness) and places (e.g. meyhane and coffeehouse).

From the collection of mythical and historical narratives attempted to recover the trajectory of this group from the river Papuri toward the lower river Uaupes contributing thereby to a greater understanding of the ethno-sociological conformation of this region. The history of the community of Ananás, where Max was born, and where co-lived with another tukano clan, the Sanadepó-porã, was rebuilt, in part, from these oral histories and historical sources, mainly. We tried to observe, from conflicting reports of episodes involving specific movements related to shamanism and scatter some of the groups own dynamic tukano regarding mainly the formation of communities, micro-politics of affinity and co-residence between agnatic groups. This paper revisits classic themes of regional literature as hierarchy, social organization, cosmology, and is constituted as a starting point for research collaboration marked mainly by the fluidity between native and anthropological knowledge. / O presente trabalho procurou observar as motivações de uma liderança indígena do noroeste amazônico, Maximiliano Menezes, em seu desejo de produzir um registro escrito da trajetória e posicionamento hierárquico dos Inapé-porã, um dos cerca de quarenta clãs tukano. A partir da coleta de narrativas mítico-históricas tentou-se recuperar a trajetória deste grupo a partir do rio Papuri em direção ao baixo rio Uaupés contribuindo, com isso, para uma maior compreensão sobre a conformação étnicosociológica desta região. A história da comunidade de Ananás, onde nasceu Max, e onde corresidiram com outro clã tukano, os Sanadepó-porã, foi reconstruída, parcialmente, a partir desses relatos orais e fontes históricas, principalmente. Tentou-se observar, a partir de relatos de episódios conflituosos específicos envolvendo xamanismo e relacionados a movimentos de dispersão, algumas dinâmicas próprias dos grupos tukano no que diz respeito, principalmente, a constituição de comunidades, micropolítica da afinidade e co-residência entre grupos agnáticos. O texto retoma temas clássicos da literatura regional como hierarquia, organização social, cosmologia, e constitui-se como ponto inicial de uma pesquisa-colaboração marcada, principalmente, pela fluidez entre saber nativo e saber antropológico.

Tuberkulose ist auch heute noch eine der bedrohlichsten Infektionskrankheiten weltweit, verantwortlich für über 1.5 Millionen Todesfälle jährlich. Diese „Erfolgsgeschichte“ ihres Erregers Mycobacterium tuberculosis ist dabei wesentlich durch einen extrem flexiblen Stoffwechsel bestimmt, der dem Bakterium das Wachstum unter den restriktiven Bedingungen der menschlichen Wirtszelle erlaubt. Diese Arbeit erkundet die Flexibilität des zentralen Kohlenstoffmetabolismus in Mykobakterien mit Hilfe mathematischer Modellierungsansätze, ergänzt durch die Integration von qualitativ hochwertigen experimentellen Daten. Ausgehend von einem Überblick über die metabolische Landschaft des zentralen Kohlenstoffmetabolismus, erhöht sich Schritt für Schritt die Detailtiefe bis hin zur genauen Analyse spezieller infektionsrelevanter metabolischer Wege. Die Verknüpfung des zentralen Kohlenstoffmetabolismus zu umgebenden Stoffwechsel- und Biosynthesewegen wird systematisch offen gelegt, als Voraussetzung für eine thermodynamische Charakterisierung des Systems, welche die Glykolyse als limitierenden Stoffwechselweg unter verschiedenen Wachstumsbedingungen charakterisiert. Basierend auf Protein- und Metabolitdaten im Fleißgleichgewicht, erlaubt eine neu vorgestellte Methode die Vorhersage regulatorischer Punkte für den metabolischen Übergang zwischen verschiedenen Kohlenstoffquellen. Abschließend wird mit Hilfe thermodynamisch-kinetischer Modellierung das Zusammenspiel zweier Stoffwechselwege mechanistisch erklärt, welche den robusten Abbau einer intrazellulären Kohlenstoffquelle ermöglichen. Durch die Entwicklung neuer Modellierungstechniken in Kombination mit hochauflösenden experimentellen Daten, trägt diese Arbeit zum besseren Verständnis der kontextabhängigen Flexibilität des mycobakteriellen Stoffwechsels bei, einem vielversprechenden Angriffspunkt für die Entwicklung neuer Medikamente gegen Tuberkulose. / Tuberculosis remains one of the major global health threats responsible for over 1.5 million deaths each year. This ’success story’ of the causative agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis is thereby closely linked to a flexible metabolism, allowing growth despite the restrictive conditions within the human host. In this thesis, the flexibility of the mycobacterial central carbon metabolism is explored by modeling approaches integrating high-quality experimental data. The analyses zoom in from a network based view to the detailed functionalities of individual, virulence relevant pathways. The interconnection of the central carbon metabolism to the remaining metabolic network is charted as a prerequisite to characterize its thermodynamic landscape, debunking glycolysis as bottleneck in different nutritional conditions. Based on steady state metabolomics and proteomics data, regulatory sites for the metabolic transition between different carbon sources are predicted by a novel method. Finally, the flexible interplay between two seemingly redundant pathways for the catabolism of an in vivo-like carbon source is explained mechanistically by means of thermodynamic-kinetic modeling. By employing novel modeling methods in combination with high-resolution experimental data, this work adds to the mechanistic understanding of the context dependent flexibility of mycobacterial metabolism, an important target for the development of novel drugs in the battle against tuberculosis.
