The Study of the Relevance Between the Political Electoral Advertising Strategy and the Performance in Television Commercials Among Three Major Candidates in the Year 2000 Presidential Election in TaiwanChang, Kao-Yu 14 August 2001 (has links)
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the differences of the political advertising strategy in television commercials among three major candidates in the Year 2000 Presidential Election in Taiwan, including the video-style and relevance between the electoral adverting strategy and the performance. After analyzing the video-style of the three major candidates, firstly, I found they centered on projecting candidates¡¦ their own image. Secondly, they attacked the opponents¡¦ personal feature. My analysis concludes that the political advertising strategy in the Year 2000 Presidential Election in Taiwan can called ¡§compared strategy¡¨. Bian-camps consolidate his strength and supply his weakness with his TV. commercials. Soong-camps were directed to project his image; Lien-camps had no the consistency between the political advertising strategy and the spot. Last but not least, there is no conclusion for the proper amount of ads in campaign. Statistically speaking, in recent years, the mainstream idea for the content of the advertisements in U. S. is more issue-oriented, whereas the major idea in Taiwan is image projection. On the other hand, in Taiwan, the lengths of ads are getting shorter and shorter and the manipulations of the party symbols are as popular as it was in the past.

The influence of cultural differences on global advertising strategyKitirattarkarn, Pitiporn 02 February 2015 (has links)
Do cultural differences influence on consumers’ purchase decision making? The emergence of a global consumer culture emphasizes the idea that sharing similar needs and wants is common among group of people, and several international marketing literatures assert that many products are developed to serve universal needs. However, global marketing practitioners today have encountered a paradigm shift from the old globalism to the new globalism, which states that products and messages developments are not necessary to maximize economies of scale, but that it is more important to understand consumers’ specific needs and local conditions. This study attempts to empirically test this issue by asking consumers in two different cultures, the American individualist culture and the Thai collectivist culture, to identify the attributes they consider important in the purchase of three product categories, as well as the advertising messages that they feel effectively suit to each product category. / text

An evaluation of advertising strategies developed according to the FCB grid and the Bendinger formulaYssel, J. C. (Johan Christiaan), 1936- 12 1900 (has links)
This thesis argues that the FCB (Foote, Cone and Belding) grid can not only be
used by advertising students to write strategy, but also to write superior strategies.
To demonstrate this, the research in this study identifies two versions of the FCB
grid that can serve as guidelines for students when writing advertising strategy.
The argument is substantiated by the results of a statistical analysis of strategies
written according to the FCB grid and the Bendinger formula.
A discussion of the areas which were researched and led to the introduction of the
FCB grid, as well as an explanation of the FCB grid, provide the context in which
the grid should be viewed as a guideline for writing advertising strategy.
Thereafter, a summative overview of what advertising strategy and the Bendinger
formula encompass, identifies the complexed nature of advertising strategy, as well
as the minimum areas which need to be addressed when attempting to write
strategy. A detailed discussion of the method which was employed and the
instrument developed to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies, precedes the
experimental results. A critical discussion of the results obtained from the statistical
analysis and the literature on advertising strategy provide a theoretical foundation
on which a model, to be used in conjunction with the FCB grid to write strategy, is
designed. The model is then explained to illustrate how students can, in
conjunction with the FCB grid, apply it to write advertising strategy.
This thesis recommends that, in order to improve on the suggested method of
evaluating strategies, the measurement scale developed in this study could be
considered as a starting point. A further recommendation is that the experiment
comparing strategies written according to the FCB sextant grid to those written
according to the FCB quadrant grid, could provide the need for further research.
The thesis concludes that as far as could be determined, this was the first time that
a study of this nature was undertaken and that the need for future research to
validate this study and its results, exists. / Communication Science / D. Litt et Phil. (Communication)

A ESTRATÉGIA PUBLICITÁRIA INFLUENCIADA PELAS LÓGICAS DE CONSUMO / THE ADVERTISING STRATEGY INFLUENCED BY THE CONSUMPTION LOGICSSantor, Fernando Silva 05 March 2010 (has links)
The Advertising role on the consumption society promotion has been seen as central and decisive. On the other hand is necessary to question the human consumption behavior that reflect their social, cultural and place motivation as a way to demonstrate their identities (CAMPBELL, 2006). In this way, is up to us relating this identity demonstration process trough the consumption behavior with the advertising practice. To this end we worked with the assumptions of Charaudeau (2006) about his concept of the Communication Contract that allowed us to create analysis categories to make a critic and reflexive observation of advertising commercials from broadcast television signed by companies know worldwide. So, and from theoretical and comparative cases analysis, we could understand the reasons by which the consumption gets this institutionalization degree in our society and how the advertising strategy is influenced by the consumption logics, which pre-define its strategy, orient their shape and restrict their content.

Cultural Differences towards Sexual Advertising : A comparative study between Swedish and South Korean studentsHemmingsson, Sara, Sjöberg, Linnea January 2020 (has links)
This study has investigated whether cultural differences affect how one perceives sexual advertising. The study has focused on Sweden and South Korea, which showed great differences in Hofstede's cultural framework. Sweden, according to Hofstede, is considered to be a feminine country and has low uncertainty avoidance. In contrast to South Korea, which is considered masculine and is one of the most uncertainty avoiding countries in the world. The study examined whether these cultural aspects affect how the consumer perceives sexual advertising. To answer this, data was collected through a questionnaire, with Swedish and South Korean university students as respondents. The results showed that there were differences in how Swedish and South Korean participants experienced sexual advertising, although not as great differences as expected. The South Koreans proved to be more easily upset by the advertising than the Swedes, however, it turned out that no one felt interested in buying the promoted product, regardless of culture.

The Role of Financial Services Advertising on Investors' Decision-MakingLee, Tae Jun 01 May 2011 (has links)
The present study assesses the effect of financial services advertising on investors’ decision-making by adopting a two-sided approach: a stimulus-side analysis to document the nature and prevalence of advertising strategies and advertising disclosures being used and a response-side investigation to examine the investors’ processing of and receptiveness to financial services advertising. By performing a content analysis of recently published financial services magazine advertisements, this study provides a contemporary look at whether and how financial services companies inform, persuade, and communicate with average investors. Results from this content analysis method is also used as a foundation to help design realistic test ads in the subsequent experimental design as a response-side approach. Combined with stimulus-side data, a between-group experimental design allows an empirical test of how the interaction between investors’ exposures to different advertising practices (i.e., advertising strategies and advertising disclosures) and individual regulatory focus might affect the ways investors perceive and evaluate the advertised financial product. In this stage, the likely processing and persuasive differences between advertising strategies and advertising disclosures and the potential moderating role of investors’ regulatory focus form the basis of the response-side approach to complement the content analysis phase. Results from the content analysis show that financial services companies increased informational advertising strategies and presented more advertising information during the three-year (2007-2009) period of interest. Findings indicate that financial services companies might play a role in enhancing the role of communication, information, and advertising in the marketplace for financial literacy. However, in order to adequately evaluate the range of investor’s response to advertising strategies and advertising disclosures, this study employs a two advertising strategies (information versus transformational) x two advertising disclosures (complete disclosure versus non-disclosure) x two regulatory focus (promotion-focused versus prevention-focused) between-subject, randomized, experimental design. Findings from the experimental design reveal that investors’ financial decision-making may be affected by internal characteristics (i.e., regulatory focus) as well as external information (i.e., advertising strategies and advertising disclosures). Especially, regulatory focus was found to be function as a moderating variable that can influence the direction and strength of relationship between different financial services advertising practices and the outcome variables of financial decision-making such as risk perceptions, product attitudes, and purchase intentions. Finally, theoretical, managerial, and policy implications are discussed and opportunities for the future research are identified.

Want to be a real hero ?: uma análise sistêmico-funcional de anúncios em revistas em quadrinhos de super-heróisSilva, Jordão Joanes Dantas da 31 March 2011 (has links)

Previous issue date: 2011-03-31 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / Although North American super-heroes such as Spider-Man and Captain America are originally associated with comic books, it has been very common to see them in other mass media, such as films, video games, cartoons and advertising. With regard to advertisements, which are closely related to a society in which consuming has been defining the human behaviour, these heroic characters are remarkably used in the offering of products and services. Considering that, with a focus on seven advertisements from the comic book The Amazing Spider-Man, this thesis aims at identifying the recurrent advertising strategies, pointing out the verbal and visual choices used in their realizations and discussing possible implications of the advertisements for the delineation of a consuming society. The data analysis follows Systemic-Functional Linguistics (HALLIDAY, 1978), with attention to the transitivity system (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2004) and the representational metafunction (KRESS; van LEEUWEN, 2006). Following this theoretical framework, as well as discussions about consumer society, advertising and super-heroes, it is still created a systemic network with sociosemantic options (HALLIDAY, 2003d; van LEEUWEN, 2005) which are crucial for the identification of advertising strategies and their related linguistic realizations. The findings express three main groups of strategies: Desire for Power, Product/Service Presentation and Necessity. Concerning linguistic aspects, there is a preference for material processes, with the super-heroes (in visual structures) and the addressee (in verbal clauses) mainly represented in the role of Actors. Giving prominence to the system Desire for Power, the advertisements present the product/service as a mediator between the real world of the advertisement addressee and the fictional world of the comic book super-heroes.
