Polisens dödsskjutningar : En diskursanalytisk undersökning om medias rapportering om polisens dödsskjutningar under 2000-talet

Kennbrant, Lina January 2015 (has links)

Lead distribution at a Public Shooting Range

Edwards, David H. 07 October 2002 (has links)
A detailed study has been made of the distribution of lead on a public shotgun range in the George Washington-Jefferson National Forests in southwestern Virginia. Sampling of more than 100 sites has yielded data on the distribution pattern of the lead shot. Since opening in 1993 through 2000, 11.1 metric tons of lead has accumulated over an area 220 by 300 m (66,000 m2) with an average rate of accumulation of 1.4 metric tons per year. More than 85 % of the total dispersed lead lies scattered in the forest that surrounds the approximately 60 by 60 m cleared shooting surface. Lead is irregularly distributed because of the use of stationary targets and the general trajectory of launched clay targets. Maximum concentrations occur at distances of about 28 m about 80 m, and at about 180 m reach a maximum value of more than 5000 g per m2. Significant amounts of fine particulate lead, generated during shooting and as a result of impact occur close to the shooting box but absent at distances beyond 50 m. / Master of Science

Mezinárodní přeprava střeliva / International transportation of ammunition

Štětina, Jakub January 2015 (has links)
This master thesis is focused on the international transportation of ammunition. The aim of my thesis is to map the international transportation of ammunition as a part of transportation of dangerous goods. The first part concentrates on the theoretical framework of transportation of ammunition - on the definitions, permits, licenses, reporting and characteristics of the various international multilateral agreements. The emphasis is put on classification, labeling, packing and documentations that are necessary for transport of ammunition. The last part is focused on the international company Sellier & Bellot JSC and followed by specific transportation on international export session.

Attityder och uppfattningar om bly kontra blyfri ammunition bland svenska jägare / Attitudes and perceptions about lead versus lead-free ammunition among Swedish hunters

Sundström, Ellen January 2023 (has links)
This study aimed to examine Swedish hunters' attitudes towards the use of leaded and lead-free ammunition, focusing on their perceptions regarding a potential transition to exclusive lead-free ammunition use. A questionnaire was utilized to gather insights from Swedish hunters about their attitudes and preferences. The results highlighted that the selection of ammunition type is primarily influenced by factors such as performance, availability, and costs. Notably, enhanced familiarity with non-leaded ammunition through increased usage correlated with more positive attitudes towards its adoption. The study also underscored the need to address sentimental values associated with traditional weapons and ammunition in balancing environmental and health considerations. Moreover, it delved into the varying factors influencing decision-making and explored the attitudinal differences between hunters who use lead and lead-free ammunition. In conclusion, it was found that the choice of ammunition among Swedish hunters isn't significantly influenced by gender or age, with lead ammunition being the preferred choice. Despite perceived hurdles associated with non-leaded ammunition, such as performance, cost, and availability, these barriers seemed to diminish with increased familiarity and experience, suggesting that focused education and improved availability could promote its adoption. As such, while perceptions about performance, cost, and availability are critical in hunters' choice of ammunition, these perceptions may evolve with a greater understanding and experience with lead-free alternatives.

Modeling cognitive and tactical aspects in hunter-killer missions

Berman, Ohad 12 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited / In this thesis, we present a Markov-based probability model for a human operated system of aerial hunter-killers attacking time-sensitive targets. We explore the effect of two resources -- time and supply of munitions -- and some cognitive aspects of the human operator on the performance of the system in different operational scenarios. We model the combat mission as a sequence of engagements; each of which includes a classification process, followed by a firing decision, and a shooting process. The model of the classification process addresses possible effects of stress on the operator's behavior and performance. Two shooting tactics are considered. The random shooting tactic, which is memory-less and with no fire control, BDA capability or mission support systems, sets a benchmark for more effective shoot-look-shoot tactic, where resources are utilized more efficiently. The model represents various tactical parameters regarding rules of engagement and various mixes of resources. Applying the model on some real-world scenarios, we identify mixes of resources and tactical engagement rules that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the combat mission. / Outstanding Thesis

Mažo kalibro kulkų balistinių procesų modeliavimas ir tyrimas / Research and simulation of ballistics processes of small arms ammunition bullets

Vilkauskas, Andrius 26 July 2005 (has links)
The research object is to develop, verify and validate computational models of small arms ammunition bullets (calibre up to 12.7mm) and bullet-target interaction. Applying the developed computational models, the ballistic processes of small arms ammunition bullets have to be investigated and the main dynamic properties of such processes need to be obtained.
