In order to accomplish such task, the psychoanalytical writings that refer to supervision were taken as the object of study and were read and comprehended in an analytical way through the use of the psychoanalytical method. As a result of this method, this proposal revealed that situations of supervision can be identified even before Freud s psychoanalytical knowledge had been unveiled. The analysis also highlighted that, during supervision, the desire to become an analyst connected transferentially to an Other (many times idealised) that was seen as the knowledge holder, which can engender an actual analyst. The interpretation of the psychoanalytical texts also showed in depth how the supervision practice was originated, how and the reason why it was developed and became the pillar of the professional development. The systematization and institutionalization of the analyst professional development brought important impasses in its core that resulted in ruptures inside the psychoanalytical movement. Such ruptures led to the building of another professional development model in order to solve such impasses; however, it fell back into the same mistake they wanted to avoid, leading to more dissensions / O objetivo da presente tese foi o de apreender os múltiplos sentidos que a história da supervisão na formação do analista, desde o período Breuer até a era lacaniana, encerraram.

The discourse of the analyst imply some form of resistance to the discourse of the capitalist? About the political dimension of the freud-lacanian psychoanalysis

No. of bitstreams: 1 Brendali Dias.pdf: 1321857 bytes, checksum: cac3295c6bf4b3985d4047c8ebb3228c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-04-15 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The objective of this project was to think the political dimension of the freud-lacanian psychoanalysis, checking the possibility of the discourse of the analyst implying some form ofresistance to the discourse of the capitalist. The research was done through a study of the Freud-lacanian theory. Freud, in “Civilization and its Discontents”, claimed that the social bond was the main source of men’s suffering and that the conflict in the bond was impossible to be eliminated. In agreement with Freud, Lacan writes the XVII Seminar, “The other side of psychoanalysis”, formalizing 4 discourses as forms of social bond, namely: discourse of the master, discourse of the hysteric, discourse of the analyst and discourse of the university, as devices which present the forms of the subject’s enjoyment on the bond, always followed by an impossible of not being able to be completely fulfilled and of an impotence of relationship with the truth proposed by the discourses. Posteriorly, Lacan (1972, unpublished) delivers +1 discourse, discourse of the capitalist, proposed as the one which breaks the social bonds and puts the subject in a short circuit of enjoyment for the consumption of objects. Lacan used yet Marx political economy theory to think the capitalism in the contemporary society. To defend that the discourse of the analyst may imply some form of resistance to the discourse of the capitalist, we indicated the discourse of the hysteric, that by questioning the system through its symptom, and by meeting an analyst who replies from the place of object a, it is possible to promote a margin of freedom in relation to its structural alienation, which has its political dimension in the clinic, given that the subject of psychoanalysis is political. To think such possibility out of the clinic, we indicated the collective logic theory suggested by Lacan in his text about the logical time, as a possibility to promote a margin of freedom for the subject in the social bond, therefore a counterpoint in relation to the elimination of conflicts in the society pursued by the discourse of the capitalist. Our issue keeps changed: would the discourse of the analyst make a collective logic possible, which would imply some form of resistance to the discourse of the capitalist?

Robust portfolio management with multiple financial analysts

Lu, I-Chen (Jennifer) January 2015 (has links)
Portfolio selection theory, developed by Markowitz (1952), is one of the best known and widely applied methods for allocating funds among possible investment choices, where investment decision making is a trade-off between the expected return and risk of the portfolio. Many portfolio selection models have been developed on the basis of Markowitz's theory. Most of them assume that complete investment information is available and that it can be accurately extracted from the historical data. However, this complete information never exists in reality. There are many kinds of ambiguity and vagueness which cannot be dealt with in the historical data but still need to be considered in portfolio selection. For example, to address the issue of uncertainty caused by estimation errors, the robust counterpart approach of Ben-Tal and Nemirovski (1998) has been employed frequently in recent years. Robustification, however, often leads to a more conservative solution. As a consequence, one of the most common critiques against the robust counterpart approach is the excessively pessimistic character of the robust asset allocation. This thesis attempts to develop new approaches to improve on the respective performances of the robust counterpart approach by incorporating additional investment information sources, so that the optimal portfolio can be more reliable and, at the same time, achieve a greater return.

Analysts forecast error and tenure: The moderating effect of country-culture dimensions

Berghuizen, Arnold January 2019 (has links)
This research investigates the moderating effect of cultural differences between countries on the relationship between tenure and analyst accuracy. To investigate this research looks at the expected earnings per shares and the realised earnings per share from the shares included into the AEX, CAC, DAX and FTSE. The dataset consists of 466 analysts and 3.040 observations. The time period observed is 2015, 2016 and 2017. This research shows that there is no significant relationship between tenure and analyst accuracy. The results show that masculinity, individualism and long term orientation have a moderating effect on analyst accuracy. A practical implication is that managers could employ methods to change the work culture to increase analyst accuracy. An academic implication of this research is that culture should be included as a moderating factor in future analyst accuracy research.

Fundamentos do diagnóstico e a posição do analista / Foundations of diagnosis and the position of the analyst

Maesso, Marcia Cristina 27 October 2011 (has links)
To begin with, based on the perspectives of writers such as Freud and Lacan, as well as other authors from the field of psychoanalysis, diagnosis is regarded as an act of mastery in medical discourse. It is then argued that the opposite of this discourse represents the conception of diagnosis in psychoanalysis as a half-saying, based on the position of the analyst in the transferential relationship. The study also considers the hypothesis that through writing in clinical cases, when formulating diagnostic half-sayings, the psychoanalyst is guided by the Real encountered in their praxis, and not by the scientific ideal. By focusing on the evolution of the case writing involving a child who was diagnosed by doctors and family members as being disabled, this study advances a possible means of understanding which preserves the opacity of the subject as well as its articulation

Understanding Self-Care Techniques Among Currently Practicing Behavior Analysts

Spiker, Shane T. 01 January 2019 (has links)
Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) serve as the primary practitioners within this field, providing direct services to individuals with socially significant problem behaviors. The purpose of this study was to expand research on the behavior analytic practitioner regarding their self-care practices and develop an understanding of their lived experience using Orem's theory of self-care. Data were collected from 10 BCBAs via face-to-face interviews derived of questions regarding self-care practices. The interview questions included discussions around self-care behaviors as well as beneficial and problematic effects regarding individual self-care practices. Interpretive phenomenological analysis was used to gather information regarding practices and interpret the lived experience of current practitioners. It was found that BCBAs have informal exposure to self-care and share effects like burnout with other helping professions. Some practitioners indicated that lack of self-care resulted in diminished relationships, lowered quality of care for clients, and poor quality of life outcomes. This research indicated social change implications that include using the results to improve self-care practices among BCBAs could result in less burnout and improved care for patients. If improvements to self-care repertoires are made, client outcomes may also improve, reducing the need for behavior analysis services long term.

The Effect of Uncertain and Weak Modal Words in 10-K Filings on Analyst Forecast Attributes

Kim, Myung Sub 22 June 2018 (has links)
This study examines the determinants of the use of uncertain and weak modal words in 10-K filings and the effect of these words on analyst forecast attributes. I find that the use of uncertain and weak modal words in 10-K filings is positively (negatively) associated with firm size, volatility of business and operations (firm age and number of business segments). More importantly, after controlling for readability and management tone, I find that the use of uncertain and weak modal words in 10-K filings is associated with greater analyst following, lower forecast dispersion, greater forecast accuracy, and lower uncertainty in analysts’ overall and common information environment. The results of this study provide more insights into why management uses uncertain and weak modal words in 10-K filings and how these words in 10-K filings affect analysts’ behavior and their forecast outcomes.

Two Essays on Security Offerings: Information Production, Investor Perception and The Types of External Financing, and A Unified Analysis on Financing Choices and Offering Costs

Yi, Bingsheng 11 March 2005 (has links)
I investigate the impacts that information production, information asymmetry have on firms financing choices 3/4 equity financing or debt financing. I find that equity issue announcements encourage more information production than debt issue announcements, which in turn raises the probability of equity financing. In addition, the post-issue stock market performance is positively associated with information production. The results are robust after controlling for investor optimism. I also apply the Heckmans two-step procedure to jointly investigate firms financing choices and offering costs. I find that security-issuing firms choose the less-costly financing type.
