The aim of the this small scale empirical research study was to shed a discursive light on the leadership that was experienced within two primary school settings in the North West of England and the constraints of context that shaped the discourses of leadership within those schools. Contextual factors have been defined as being on three levels: institutional, cultural and governmental. So using this framework as a sorting category for posing situated questions of the participants and Gee’s (1999; 2005; 2011) interconnected one to explore and question the data and the taken-for-granted assumptions, it has been possible to garner an understanding of how these contexts interacted in framing an individual’s understanding of the leadership they were experiencing and implications for their practice. The research questions which this study addressed were: What are the contextual factors that shape discourses of educational leadership? What does the discursive analysis reveal of how stakeholders talk about ways of becoming in the leadership they are experiencing within a socially situated practice? What are the implications of this analysis for the practice of leadership within school? The research was influenced by two particular approaches to discourse analysis, a ‘practice approach’ and a ‘critical approach’. As educational practices are communicative events, this study has adopted a critical discourse analysis in making visible the ways that individuals talk about leadership they are experiencing within their settings. Through a Foucauldian lens it was possible to question the basis for the assumptions and norms of educational leadership in school and examine the ways in which individuals within school were both constructed and shaped by that discourse. This study takes the view that the school as an organizational context for leaders is both complex and under explored as it is in a constant state of flux. Various complexities are acknowledged concerning the contextual nature of leadership; it is complex, context specific, socially constructed, negotiated and hierarchical. Analysis of 18 in-depth semi-structured interviews and 18 cognitive maps reveals a range of Discourses of contextual factors of leadership such as the Discourse of the pivotal role of the headteacher; Discourse of leadership activity; Discourse of identity-work; Discourse of power relations and Discourse of commodification of education all made visible by the individuals within the school to which they endeavour to belong.

Toma por referencial teórico alguns escritos de autores como Augé, Bourdieu, Clifford, Foucault, Thompson entre outros. Seu objetivo é analisar, a partir das particularidades do processo de produção da informação, juntamente com as potencialidades conferidas aos usos sociais destas informações em nossa contemporaneidade, as homologias possíveis entre as dinâmicas próprias ao campo político e ao espaço da mídia no país. Temos por hipótese a ideia de que a informação, ao ser pensada enquanto prática discursiva, pode conferir aos dispositivos midiáticos a possibilidade de exercer uma agencia dentro das dinâmicas que configuram o campo político, principalmente em momentos particulares de disputa dentro deste campo, como o é caso dos processos eleitorais. Tal possibilidade representaria, em certa medida, uma via de exercício de poder destes dispositivos midiáticos em relação a algumas das dinâmicas que caracterizam o campo político nacional / Resumen: Propósito de esta trabajo es un conjunto de discursos producidos en la contienda electoral de 2010, emitido por periódico Veja y Carta Capital en el período de febrero a junio de ese año. Orientador: Maria do Rosário Gregolin / Banca: Nilton Milanez / Banca: Vanice Maria de Oliveira Sargentini / Banca: Kátia Menezes de Sousa / Banca: Luzmara Ferreira Curcino / Resumo: Tomando o ponto de vista da Análise de Discurso a partir da reflexão de Michel Foucault e considerando as subjetividades enquanto construções históricas intermediadas pela relação intrínseca das práticas discursivas e as técnicas de si, o objetivo desta pesquisa consiste em analisar o discurso de manuais de civilidade que circularam em Portugal e no Brasil nos séculos XVIII e XIX, a fim de entender seu papel na projeção do sujeito civilizado a partir do processo civilizatório decorrente da instauração da Corte Portuguesa no Rio de Janeiro, em 1808. A existência e a circulação de uma literatura prescritiva de comportamentos coloca ao sujeito a função de aplicar sobre si um conjunto de técnicas de controle de modo a tornar-se civilizado. Aceitar que subjetividades são forjadas por práticas discursivas, requer analisar o discurso para além dos limites da significação e inseri-lo em uma rede de interconexões com outros dizeres e acontecimentos, na tentativa de compreender "o que faz do sujeito um civilizado". Sendo assim, abre-se a problemática para pensar uma análise do discurso que não esteja às voltas apenas com a constituição dos sentidos, mas que tenha interesse em compreender as subjetividades por meio de uma cartografia da existência. Portanto, com base na leitura de postulados teóricos foucaultianos, este trabalho propõe uma reflexão crítica sobre uma teoria da subjetividade na Análise do Discurso por meio da genealogia das práticas de existência desenvolvida por Michel Foucault. O sujeito ocupa o centro do pensamento da filosofia foucaultiana, e o exercício de compreensão implica olhar para as práticas discursivas, de modo a compreender de que maneira as subjetividades são construídas / Résumé: Considérant les réflexions de Foucault à propos de l'Analyse du Discours et les subjectivités comme des productions historiques médiées par la relation intrinsèque des pratiques discoursives et des techniques du soi, l'objectif de ce travail-là c'est d'analyser le discours de la bienséance et du bon comportement et son rôle dans la projection du sujet civilisé dès le procès de civilisation commencé par l'instauration de la Cour Portugaise au Rio de Janeiro, en 1808. L'existence et la circulation d'une littérature normative de comportements mettent sur le sujet la fonction d'appliquer sur soi-même un ensemble de techniques de contrôle pour devenir civilisé. Pour accepter que les subjectivités sont produites par des pratiques discoursives on doit analyser le discours au-dehors des limitations de la signification, et le placer dans un réseau d'interconnexions avec des autres dits et événements, pour essayer de comprendre « ce que fait du sujet un civilisé ». De cette façon, on crée une problématique autour d'une analyse du discours qui ne s'occupe que des sens, en posant le besoin de comprendre les subjectivités à travers une cartographie de l'existence. On propose ainsi penser une théorie de la subjectivité dans l'Analyse du Discours à travers une généalogie des pratiques d'existence avec la lecture de Michel Foucault. Para que o estudo seja realizado, o presente trabalho segue a linha teórico-metodológica do Círculo de Bakhtin e seus comentadores, que trata das enunciações e as relações dialógicas produzidas no discurso assim como do ato ético e estético na construção do sentido. Também reflexões realizadas por Sá, Silva e Sobral ajudam a delinear os mecanismos de análise, uma vez que esses estudiosos desenvolvem pesquisas sobre o gênero entrevista pingue-pongue. A pesquisa se preocupa em analisar a construção do acabamento estético a partir das relações dialógicas que se estabelecem entre o eu e o outro e como os valores sociais vão sendo ressignificados nesta esfera. A análise do córpus, composto por três entrevistas pingue-pongues publicadas pela revista Bravo! nos meses de fevereiro, setembro e dezembro de 2012, com personalidades do cenário nacional, respectivamente, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Marisa Monte e Gilberto Gil, permite perceber o movimento do próprio gênero na esfera jornalística por meio da construção do acabamento estético e do direcionamento temático dados pelo autor. A partir das análises, pode-se levantar indícios de que o gênero estudado apresenta especificidades, como a tendência a um estilo mais literário do autor quando na esfera da cultura, e uma valorização da ordem do privado dos entrevistados, diferentemente do que ocorre em outras esferas / Abstract: This research presents the genre of discourse interview ping pong in the sphere on the cultural journalism. For the study to be carried out, this work follows the theoretical and methodological approach of Bakhtin's Circle and his commentators, dealing with utterances and dialogical relations produced in discourse as well as the ethical and aesthetic act for the construction of meaning. Also reflections made by Sá, Silva and Sobral help to delineate the mechanisms of analysis, as these scholars developed research on gender ping-pong interview. The research is concerned with analyzing the construction of aesthetic finish from the dialogical relations which are established between self and other and how social values are being reinterpreted in this sphere. The analysis of the corpus, consisting of three interviews ping pongs published by Bravo! in February, September and December 2012, with personalities from the national scene, respectively, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Marisa Monte and Gilberto Gil, allows us to understand the movement of the genre itself in the journalistic sphere through the construction of aesthetic finish and thematic direction given by the author. De tal modo, algumas produções, que conquistaram bons índices de audiência, têm feito uso de algumas estratégias a fim de atingir seus objetivos, que vão desde a utilização de diferentes discursos baseados em "verdades midiáticas" até os chamados "efeitos de verdade", que demarcam seu ethos discursivo. Em vista de tais apontamentos, esta pesquisa pretende revisitar alguns modelos de jornalísticos popularescos significativos - em termos de inovação no fazer noticioso e na representação discursiva - das décadas de 80, 90 e 2000/10 do século XX: Documento Especial - Televisão Verdade (década de 80); Aqui Agora (década de 90); e Balanço Geral (surgido na primeira década dos anos 2000 e ainda no ar), à luz da análise de discurso de tradição francesa, da análise retórica e da análise de elementos que compõe a narrativa sonoro-imagética. Esse entrecruzamento metodológico nos possibilitou trabalhar com o ethos projetado na enunciação de cada uma das atrações supracitadas, no qual procuramos depreender como a identidade jornalística era construída em seu conteúdo discursivo através de projeções ethópicas / Abstract: Because of the search for new and eager information and the unbridled struggle for the hearing new models of 'journalism' appear on television vehicles and alternate journalistic identity discourse. Orientador: Marina Célia Mendonça / Banca: Assunção Aparecida Laia Cristóvão / Banca: Jauranice Rodrigues Cavalcanti / Resumo: A proposta desta pesquisa, embasada nos estudos bakhtinianos do discurso, é investigar enunciados verbais e não verbais da revista impressa para adolescentes Capricho a fim de refletirmos sobre as diversas vozes de leitores que o periódico traz em suas matérias, compondo uma rede de compartilhamento de opiniões, diferentemente do jornalismo convencional, em que se busca embasamento para as matérias em opiniões/posicionamentos de profissionais nos assuntos tematizados nos textos. Assim, investigamos quais os espaços de maior interação das vozes de leitores na revista e como se dá a presença dessas vozes em diferentes seções, considerando a presença de discursos que não seriam considerados de "autoridade" nos gêneros jornalísticos convencionais e refletindo sobre o modo como dialogam as diversas vozes que a revista traz. De acordo com Bakhtin e seu Círculo, o trabalho de investigação de um material linguístico concreto lida inevitavelmente com enunciados concretos relacionados a diferentes campos da atividade humana e da comunicação. Assim, o uso da língua está relacionado com as diversas esferas sociais, e em cada uma dessas esferas os gêneros se formam e se diferenciam a partir das suas finalidades discursivas, dos participantes da interação e das suas relações sociais. Na noção de gênero discursivo proposta por Bakhtin, a linguagem é um fenômeno social, histórico e ideológico. Dessa maneira, o autor define os gêneros do discurso como tipos relativamente estáveis de enunciados elaborados de acordo com as condições específicas de cada esfera de atividade humana. Portanto, essas esferas ocasionam o surgimento de tipos de enunciados, que se estabilizam de forma precária e mudam em função de modificações nessas esferas. Neste trabalho, refletimos sobre a proposta bakhtiniana de se considerarem os gêneros do discurso como espaços de... / Abstract: The purpose of this research, based on Bakhtin's speech studies, is to investigate verbal and nonverbal statements from teen magazine Capricho in order to reflect about the various voices of readers that the magazine brings to compose its stories, creating a sharing network opinions, different from conventional journalism, in which speech search basement for the content in opinions / professional positions in the issues themed in the texts. Thus, we investigated which are the areas of greater voices interaction of readers in the magazine and how the presence of these voices in different sections work, considering the presence of speeches that would not be considered "authoritative" in conventional journalistic genres and reflecting about the way how these voices dialogue with the magazine brings. According to Bakhtin and his Circle, the research work of a concrete linguistic material inevitably deals with concrete statements related to different fields of human activity and communication. Thus, the use of language is related to the various social spheres, and in each of these spheres, the genres are formed and differentiate from their discursive purposes, the participants of the interaction and their social relations. In the notion of discursive genre proposed by Bakhtin, language is a social phenomenon, historical and ideological. In this way, the author defines the speech genres as relatively stable types of utterances designed according to the specific conditions of each sphere of human activity. Therefore, these spheres cause the emergence of types of statements, which are stabilized precariously and change in these spheres modifications function. From these practices, we also reflect on the typical comment as discursive genre and as a statement that has a dialogical continuity with the other statements. These intentions are given by the fact that we found on the site stylistic peculiarities, unique compositional and thematic on the comments: commentators not only commented on the text in a brief and casual way; they complemented the commented text. They supplemented from similar processes and the computer support particular processes. From a listed readback, we selected five tutorials that peculiarities are gaven in more apparent way. Notions of speech genres, finishing and responsible act are basic and fundamental to understand the dialogue that exists between the statements and the proposed continuum that we propose. / Abstract: O trabalho que se apresenta tem por objetivo refletir sobre a prática de escrita e leitura na internet, particularmente no site www.papodehomem.com.br. A partir dessas práticas, refletimos também sobre o típico comentário como gênero discursivo e como enunciado que possui uma continuidade dialógica com os outros enunciados. Essas intenções se deram pelo fato de encontrarmos no site referido particularidades estilísticas, composicionais e temáticas peculiares ao comentário: os internautas não apenas comentam os textos de maneira breve e casual; eles complementam o texto comentado. Complementam a partir de processos semelhantes e de processos particulares ao suporte computador. A partir de um cotejamento de enunciados, selecionamos cinco tutoriais em que as peculiaridades se dão de maneira mais aparente. A presente dissertação investiga textos escritos por internos do Centro de Atendimento Socioeducativo (CASE), de Caxias do Sul, e que integram o livro Recriar Textos, buscando perceber as representações do sistema socioeducativo em regime de reclusão que perpassam a produção escrita. Para isso, utiliza a metodologia de Análise de Discurso, que permite inferir diante da complexidade presente nas entrelinhas dos textos. O estudo é uma forma de dar aproveitamento de interesse social à produção dos jovens. A partir dos temas recorrentes abordados pelos internos, analisa-se o contexto da vulnerabilidade social que facilita a entrada desses rapazes no crime, bem como questões relacionadas à reclusão, como as ações educativas nem sempre eficazes e a presença ostensiva das religiões. Noções sobre escrita da memória, polifonia, eufemismo e assujeitamento resultam da etapa posterior à análise. O trabalho cruza o exame de fragmentos selecionados dos escritos com a revisão bibliográfica interdisciplinar que contempla, entre outros, autores como Foucault, Goffman, Barthes, Bakhtin, Bachelard e Sarlo. / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, CAPES / This dissertation investigates texts written by inmates of the Centro de Atendimento Socioeducativo (CASE) from Caxias do Sul, which are part of the book Recriar Textos, aming to perceive the socio-educational system representations in a regime of imprisonment that overarching written production. For this purpose, it is used the Discourse Analysis methodology, which permits to infer about the complexity observed in the subtexts of the writing. The study of these materials is a way of raising social interest to the production of these teenagers. Based on the recurrent themes addressed by inmates, we analyze the context of social vulnerability that facilitates the entry of these young people into crime, as well as issues related to reclusion, such as educational actions that are not always effective and the ostensible presence of religions observed in the texts. Notions about memory writing, polyphony, euphemism and subjection process resulted in the post-analysis phase. The paper crosses the examination of selected fragments of the writings with the interdisciplinary bibliographic review that includes, among others, authors such as Foucault, Goffman, Barthes, Bakhtin, Bachelard and Sarlo.

This research explores how ‘authenticity’ is constructed in counselling psychology and asks what the ethical implications of this commonly taken-for-granted value might be. A discourse analytic approach known as ‘critical discursive psychology’ was used to examine eight counselling psychologists’ talk of ‘authenticity’ in semi-structured interviews. The analysis suggested that counselling psychologists may draw on a number of interpretative repertoires regarding ‘authenticity’, using them to establish their identity and negotiate their relationships with clients. However, taken together these repertoires might be said to form an ‘authenticity ideal’, which often functions to position the therapist as authentic and the client as inauthentic. Furthermore, in drawing upon various psychotherapeutic and humanistic discourses, the participants in this study appeared to be distanced from their power in positioning clients as inauthentic, although they demonstrated a problematizing of their own ‘authenticity’ in relation to the need for professional boundaries. This research suggests that talk of ‘authenticity’ tends to locate therapeutic action within a humanistic moral discourse of self-unity. This is of concern because the emphasis on individualism may lead therapists to underestimate the social and relational context of their clients’ difficulties. It should be noted that this critique falls not on the individuals involved in this research, for their answers were consistent with a range of accepted theoretical guidelines; but instead upon the reification of authenticity within counselling psychology and Western society in general. The participants in this study further problematized ‘authenticity’ in terms of needing to balance it with the demands of training and employment organisations. It was found that ii both institutional power and individual embodiment may act as ‘extra-discursive’ influences and constraints upon ‘authenticity’ discourse; however, the methodological feasibility of a critical-realist epistemology within discursive research is questioned. The limitations of the research findings and their relevance for reflexive practice are considered.
