Eli, Daniela January 2014 (has links)
Os castigos foram meios utilizados pelos professores como formas de exercício da autoridade, com a qual mantinham a ordem, a moral e a disciplina em sala de aula.<br> / Abstract: This study identified school punishments and disciplinary processes used at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School (Grupo Escolar Nossa Senhora do Sagrado Coração), now known as the Our Lady Elementary School (Escola de Educação Básica Nossa Senhora) in the municipality of Angelina (SC), and problematized these punishments and processes. The time period studied was from 1940 - 1975. The theoretical and methodological supports were found in the analysis of written sources, the minutes of pedagogical meetings, a book of disciplinary measures, regulations and decrees. Interviews were also conducted with former students. The memories of former students are analyzed according to Halbwachs' (2006) collective memory perspective, and the memory of work, according to Bosi (2009). These memories, gathered in eight interviews, are used as the central focus of the reflections made, which present the perception of the interviewees about their time as students, relative to the disciplinary process they found in school. The statements of those interviewed also allow identifying a set of tactics used in the punishments (CERTEAU, 1998). In terms of physical punishment, Foucault (1994) helps understand the processof disciplining and taming of bodies by means of punishments and vigilance. Although prohibited by law, school punishments, physical or moral, were found at the schools, even in the first half of the 20th century, and gradually substituted by other forms of discipline. In the case of the Sacred Heart School, in addition to not being eradicated, these punishments were not substituted by a disciplinary process. Both co-existed simultaneously, and were used to correct what was considered bad behavior by students. In this sense, the children were educated to be docile and obedient, and the school taught them to love their country. The punishments were means used by teachers to exercise authority, with which they maintained order, morality and classroom discipline.

Elos da integração avícola

Bilck, Max January 2003 (has links)
Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas. Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia. / Made available in DSpace on 2012-10-20T18:49:15Z (GMT).

Celebrity Diplomacy in the Current Global Economy: A Feminist Perspective

Via, Sandra Elizabeth 25 March 2011 (has links)
Using gender lenses, this dissertation examines the emergence of celebrity diplomats as viable political actors, providing diplomatic services focused on negotiation and humanitarian aid, in current international politics and the global economy. More specifically, this dissertation uses feminist political economy literature to examine how neoliberal globalization has contributed to the growing role of celebrity diplomats in international politics. I argue that the increased presence and involvement of celebrity diplomats in the post-9/11 era is the result of neoliberal globalization and the neoliberal state's shift toward privatization of the public sector, increased militarization, and increased emphasis on commodification and consumption. In order to examine this phenomenon, this dissertation examines the diplomatic endeavors of two celebrity diplomats, Angelina Jolie and George Clooney. More specifically, this study provides an in-depth analysis of Jolie and Clooney's roles and involvement in international politics. Moreover, this dissertation examines the gender roles of celebrity diplomats. Therefore, this dissertation provides a gender analysis of Jolie and Clooney's diplomatic endeavors. I argue that Jolie's diplomacy reflects her role as mother, while Clooney takes a masculine approach to his diplomatic agenda. Finally, the dissertation concludes with an analysis of the ways in which celebrity diplomacy can further promote a neoliberal agenda. / Ph. D.

Tasis Moratinos, Eduardo January 2011 (has links)
Tomás Segovia and Angelina Muñiz Huberman belong to a group of writers known as «Hispanomexicanos». Most approaches to this generation have been towards the role that exile plays in their early work, paying almost no attention to its role after that initial stage. These approaches have been limited to the first years of their work, in the belief that those writers subsequently moved on to deal with issues which are different from those in which their experience of exile is clearly the central topic. However, through an analysis of the poetry of Muñiz and Segovia, this thesis aims to show that exile continues to play a central role beyond that first stage. It argues that their exile is transformed into a series of symbols that come to constitute a shared style and, more importantly, it proposes that their experience of exile is transformed into a feeling of existential displacement which impels a search for meaning and belonging to the world. Consequently, the conclusion presented in this thesis is that exile plays a central role in their poetry, in the sense that it expresses the ways in which these two writers search and transmit meaning and attempt to feel part of the world. Ultimately, this thesis aims to set an example of approach which could be productively taken to study the work of other writers from this generation.

BETWEEN HEIMAT AND FREMDE: NEW CONFIGURATIONS OF HAPPINESS IN CONTEMPORARY GERMAN LITERATURE AND FILM

Hügler, Rebecca Octavia 04 June 2013 (has links)
This thesis investigates representations of happiness in recent German literature and film. The interpretations focus on how happiness is negotiated in the context of home and travel, of Heimat and Fremde, in order to understand happiness, not only insofar as it contributes to “the good life”, but also as an element that shapes public discourses. My readings of works of fiction take into account how notions of happiness have shifted since the turn of the millennium. One reason for this shift is the heightened interest in happiness research, one of the most thriving interdisciplinary research fields of the last decade, which includes disciplines such as psychology, neurosciences, political science, sociology and economics. The following texts and films are examined in this context: Sommerhaus, später (1998) and Nichts als Gespenster (2003) by Judith Hermann, Transfer Lounge (2003) by Gregor Hens, Die Habenichtse (2006) by Katharina Hacker, Head-On (German: Gegen die Wand, 2004) by Fatih Akın, When We Leave (German: Die Fremde, 2010) by Feo Aladağ, Der Blick hinab (2007) by Shirin Kumm, Unveiled (German: Fremde Haut, 2005) by Angelina Maccarone, Cherry Blossoms (German: Kirschblüten – Hanami, 2008) by Doris Dörrie and Zehn (2010) by Franka Potente. My theoretical framework is informed in part by Sara Ahmed’s 2010 influential study, The Promise of Happiness, which takes a critical view toward recent happiness research from a cultural studies perspective. My analysis is directed at the ways in which concepts of happiness are narrated, negotiated and challenged within the context of transnational stories, which are inscribed with the effects of “supermodernity” (Augé) in a globalized world. I show how these works subvert themes and motifs that are associated with happiness, such as home and Heimat and travel or migration into the West. Finally, my readings show how these works mediate and reflect public dialogues and traditional notions about what makes us happy or unhappy, and I demonstrate how new configurations of happiness arise from these narratives. / Thesis (Ph.D, German) -- Queen's University, 2013-05-30 17:42:26.632
