I denna uppsats undersöks huruvida en sexualisering av det svenska samhället har skett de senaste tjugo åren. Med avstamp i tidningen Vecko Revyns frågespalter om sex och samlevnad från åren 1987 och 2010 genomförs en fallstudie. I frågespalterna undersöks frågorna och svaren grundligt, efter ett tematiskt upplägg tas mönster och tendenser fram som kan hjälpa till att besvara den aktuella frågeställningen samt verifiera eller falsifiera den hypotes som också presenteras. Den primära undersökningskällan är således Vecko Revyns frågespalter om sex och samlevnad, utvalda nummer från slutet på årgångarna 1987 och 2010. Tidigare forskning i ämnena media och sexualitet samt samhället och sexualitet återkommer kontinuerligt där bland andra Anja Hirdmans avhandling Tilltalande bilder ingår.

Det här är en studie i hur män och kvinnor avbildas och  beskrivs i bilder på sportsidorna under tre olympiska spel, OS i Amsterdam 1928, OS i Melbourne 1956 och OS i Los Angeles 1984, mot bakgrund av Anja Hirdmans uppsats Male Norms and Female Forms. Hon har i sin studie endast studerat nyhetsplats och inte idrottssidor och den här uppsatsen är ett försök att problematisera hennes resultat.  I uppsatsen har vi valt att studera de båda svenska tidningarna Dagens nyheter och Idrottsbladet genom att använda semiotisk analys och textanalys.  Vi kan visa att det råder en dikotomi i beskrivningen och avbildningen av män och kvinnor men att resultaten skiljer sig i detaljer mot Hirdmans studie eftersom sportsidor har en annan nyhetslogik än övriga sidor. På många sätt avbildas män och kvinnor på sportsidorna över tid mer jämlikt än på övrig nyhetsplats. Män och kvinnor får ungefär lika stor bevakning i förhållande till antalet deltagare, beskrivs ofta efter sina resultat och avbildas som ungefär lika aktiva och ungefär lika ofta som individer. Men på andra sätt är det tvärtom; kvinnor omnämns oftare med sitt kön, de ler oftare mot kameran, avbildas oftare som poserande och det saknas helt kvinnliga ledare under vår undersökningsperiod.  Män avbildas oftare i helkropp, oftare som narcissistiska och begrundande på ett sätt som förefaller ikoniskt, i det att bilden av en allvarlig man som funderar är en viktig del av vår bildkultur och ofta återkommer som manligt ideal.

This essay explores how an image can be shaped and influenced by several different interests, motives, and schools of thought. The work getting analysed is Till minnet av en älv by Anja Örn. It contains video art, sculptures, and text with a number of different frameworks and references.In the background descriptions made, concepts such as ecofeminism and Anthropocene play a role. The essay also touches upon industrial history and cultural heritage which lifts the interesting question of who's history is being written.It's about how our shared memories are shaped in relationship to the landscape, and who gets represented when these memories are transferred to the next generation.

The aim of this thesis is to undertake a comparative study of contemporary British and German-language playwriting, with an eye specifically towards possible reasons and solutions for the problematic situation of German-language playtexts in Britain. I will first conduct a stylistic analysis of a selection of British and German-language playwrights, focusing on the differences in representation of interiority through dialogue and narration. I will then introduce a phenomenological lens that will expand this literary analysis by looking at specific stagings of these texts, and at the use of gestures in particular. Tracing the performative implications of dialogue and narration in their relationship with gestures, I will suggest that while dialogue mostly requires metonymical gestures, the phenomenology of narration is better served by a more metaphoric use. This is followed by a chapter on translation, which will look at the specific problems and chances posed by narration and so-called ‘postdramatic’ plays in general. After these theoretical considerations, I will scrutinise my findings in a practical environment in two major steps. The first step is a comparative rehearsal observation of one German and one British director and their work with contemporary playtexts. My main question will be in how far the tendency towards dialogue in British plays and towards narration in German-language plays is matched by corresponding trends in the directors’ formal language. Furthermore, I will contextualise the work of these two directors in the larger field of directing in their respective countries. The second and final step of my practical investigation will be an implementation and testing of the previous theses in two directing projects of my own. I will again focus on rehearsal methodologies, attempting to find out which methodologies are particularly useful for the rehearsal of narrative playtexts and thereby hoping to formulate some first ideas for the specific requirements of German-language playtexts in a British context.

This study investigates how water is depicted in contemporary public art in Sweden, a country surrounded and built by water, and how it reflects in the art. The essay is based on Rosalind Krauss’ sculpture theory and examines how a mythical and vital substance like water is depicted and what its underlaying meaning is in three contemporary public sculptures; Till minnet av en älv (2020) by Anja Örn, Passage (2011) by Katarina Löfström and Hiljainen vesi /Tyst vatten (2019) by Laura Könönen. The study investigates if any mutual patterns can be seen and if so which, and how the relationship between the sculptures and their spatial context can be described based on Rosalyn Deutsches notion assimilative and divisive. Through analyses and comparison of the three sculptures it has emerged that water in all three public artworks stands as a metaphor for something else, here in form of the consequences of hydropower, the impermanence of time and minorities’ feeling of exclusion and community. Over these serious topics lies too a sense of melancholia. A common interest for the nature also appears and mainly because the artists have chosen to depict water even when it symbolizes something else. But the interest in nature also appears when two of the sculptures is made from natural rock and its characteristics. Furthermore, the study indicates that, despite the complexity in defining a public artwork as place-specific or placeless, all three of the sculptures have a connection with the place. The sculptures can therefore perceive as assimilative although to varying degrees and with element of divisive tendencies.
