Analysis of Web Services on J2EE Application Servers

Gosu, Adarsh Kumar 05 1900 (has links)
The Internet became a standard way of exchanging business data between B2B and B2C applications and with this came the need for providing various services on the web instead of just static text and images. Web services are a new type of services offered via the web that aid in the creation of globally distributed applications. Web services are enhanced e-business applications that are easier to advertise and easier to discover on the Internet because of their flexibility and uniformity. In a real life scenario it is highly difficult to decide which J2EE application server to go for when deploying a enterprise web service. This thesis analyzes the various ways by which web services can be developed & deployed. Underlying protocols and crucial issues like EAI (enterprise application integration), asynchronous messaging, Registry tModel architecture etc have been considered in this research. This paper presents a report by analyzing what various J2EE application servers provide by doing a case study and by developing applications to test functionality.

Utilização de serviços na integração de aplicações empresariais / Utilization of services in enterprise application integration

Eliana Kaneshima 30 November 2012 (has links)
This can be done in different forms, for example by sharing the database access or working with Web Services, in which a service is provided by the system and can be called by other systems to be integrated. Those two solutions are being applied successfully, even though both present advantages and disadvantages that must be analyzed. Thus, the goal of this work is first to compare those two integration approaches, (Based on the standard ISO-IEC 9126-1) through a bibliographical review complemented by a systematic review and professional reports from the author of this work and her supervisor. In order to confirm this comparison, an experimental study was done, which resulted in quantitative answers about the best approach to perform systems integration: EAI-Data and EAI-WS which refer to effort required to deploy each. Thus, the assessment was conducted to answer the following question: In terms of development time and code produced, is easier to perform EAI-WS or EAI-Data? Finally, five patterns were proposed to EAI, which aim to support developers with similar problems of applications integration. These patterns can be reused in many integration contexts, following the rules of specific business to be considered in the moment of integration, and accelerating the modeling of the solution through the instantiation of the most adequate pattern to each situation

Automating regression testing on fat clients / Automatiska regressionstester av feta klienter

Österberg, Emil January 2020 (has links)
Regression testing is important but time consuming. Automating the testing have many benefits. It will save money for companies because they will not have to pay testers to manually test their applications. It will produce better software with less bugs as testing can be done more frequently so bugs will be found faster. This thesis has compared two techniques used to automate regression testing. The more traditional component level record and replay tools and Visual GUI testing tools that uses image recognition. Eight tools in total was tested and compared, four from each technique. The system under test for this project was a fat client application used by Trafikverket. After automating a test suite using all tools, it could be concluded that the component level record and replay had some advantages over visual GUI testing tools, especially when it comes to verifying the state of the system under test. The benefits of visual GUI testing tools comes from their independence from the system under test and that the technique more correctly mimics how a real user interacts with the GUI.

Three Essays on Information Privacy of Mobile Users in the Context of Mobile Apps

Koohikamali, Mehrdad 08 1900 (has links)
The increasing demand for mobile apps is out the current capability of mobile app developers. In addition, the growing trend in smartphone ownership and the time people spend on mobile apps has raised several opportunities and risks for users and developers. The average time everyday a user spend on smartphones to use mobile apps is more than two hours. The worldwide mobile app revenue increase is estimated to grow 33%, $19 billion. Three quarter of the time used on mobile apps is solely for using game and social networking apps. To provide more customized services and function to users, mobile apps need to access to personal information. However, 80% of mobile apps put people's information privacy at risk. There is a major gap in the literature about the privacy concerns of mobile device users in the context of mobile apps. This dissertation addresses one fundamental research question: how does individuals' privacy change in the context of mobile apps? More precisely, the focus of this dissertation is on information privacy role in individuals' and mobile app developers' protective behaviors. We investigate the information sensitivity level influence on mobile app developers' emphasis on privacy across mobile app categories. The results show information sensitivity level has a significant impact on developers' emphasis on secondary usage of information. Moreover, we analyze the privacy trade-off dynamism in using a new social networking app and how it could result in emotional attachment. Results show initial use and initial disclosure influence the privacy trade-off from pre-use to initial-use period. Finally, the effect of privacy concern and engagement on emotional attachment is demonstrated. IoT Based Home Monitoring System

GUDURU, TABU SRAVANI, THATAVARTHY, SURYA NARAYANA MURTHY January 2019 (has links)
Home surveillance is a major concern in this day and age as with the rapid increase in the technology around us. There is a need to get updated with new possibilities to make our lives better and easy. Some cases and situations exhibit the need for home monitoring. So, we set out to discover a solution to this problem of home monitoring. Generally, we have issues with pets and kids alike such as approaching dangerous places like electric switches, stairs, and hot things. Not only a problem with kids and pets but also a chance of burglary and stranger's unusual activities. To overcome this problem we are designing and prototyping a system to keep an eye on kids, pets, and older people. This system is used in other applications like theft monitoring. The device can monitor the field all the time. In this way, this system helps in-home monitoring. The system consists of Arduino, which is the brain of the system, the PIR sensor, ESP32-CAM, and buzzer. The PIR sensor detects motion then gives input to the Arduino. Arduino gives output to the ESP32-CAM and buzzer. The ESP32-CAM can be activated and sends information to the user through the web Interface and the application. The user can see the video streaming on the PC screen or any other display. The buzzer can emit a high volume signal indicating that "there is an alert at the home".

Automation of State Climate Office Processes & Products: Developing Efficient Approaches for Data Dissemination

Shoop, Michael 01 August 2019 (has links)
State Climate Offices (SCO’s) in the United States are critical conduits for improving weather and climate data in local communities. Two states do not have a state-recognized SCO: Tennessee and Massachusetts. Efforts are underway at East Tennessee State University to develop the Tennessee Climate Office (TCO). Currently, climate services and products are severely lacking across Tennessee. This thesis provides an improved methodology for an existing TCO product and outlines the development of a new product using Python scripting. Daily storm reports within the monthly climate report are automated and a Weather Forecasts Hazard Index (WFHI) web application is developed. Both products utilize data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), with the automated daily storm reports providing substantial time savings and the WFHI providing a high resolution web application for emergency managers and others to interpret potentially hazardous forecasts for extreme temperatures, high winds, snowfall/ice accumulation, and tornado/hail events.

Transport and Fatigue Properties of Ferroelectric Polymer P(VDF-TrFE) For Nonvolatile Memory Applications

Hanna, Amir 06 1900 (has links)
Organic ferroelectrics polymers have recently received much interest for use in nonvolatile memory devices. The ferroelectric copolymer poly(vinylidene fluoride- trifluoroethylene) , P(VDF-TrFE), is a promising candidate due to its relatively high remnant polarization, low coercive field, fast switching times, easy processability, and low Curie transition. However, no detailed study of charge injection and current transport properties in P(VDF-TrFE) have been reported in the literature yet. Charge injection and transport are believed to affect various properties of ferroelectric films such as remnant polarization values and polarization fatigue behavior.. Thus, this thesis aims to study charge injection in P(VDF-TrFE) and its transport properties as a function of electrode material. Injection was studied for Al, Ag, Au and Pt electrodes. Higher work function metals such as Pt have shown less leakage current compared to lower work function metals such as Al for more than an order of magnitude. That implied n-type conduction behavior for P(VDF-TrFE), as well as electrons being the dominant injected carrier type. Charge transport was also studied as a function of temperature, and two major transport regimes were identified: 1) Thermionic emission over a Schottky barrier for low fields (E < 25 MV/m). 2) Space-Charge-Limited regime at higher fields (25 < E <120 MV/m). We have also studied the optical imprint phenomenon, the polarization fatigue resulting from a combination of broad band optical illumination and DC bias near the switching field. A setup was designed for the experiment, and validated by reproducing the reported effect in polycrystalline Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 , PZT, film. On the other hand, P(VDF-TrFE) film showed no polarization fatigue as a result of optical imprint test, which could be attributed to the large band gap of the material, and the low intensity of the UV portion of the arc lamp white light used for the experiment. Results suggest using high work function metals for a memory application, as lower leakage would enhance fatigue endurance for P(VDF-TrFE) film.
