[pt] A TEOLOGIA POLÍTICA EM JOHANN BAPTIST METZ: INSTRUMENTO DA TEOLOGIA FUNDAMENTAL PARA UMA PRÁXIS LIBERTADORA / [en] POLITICAL THEOLOGY IN JOHANN BAPTIST METZ: INSTRUMENT OF FUNDAMENTAL THEOLOGY FOR A LIBERATING PRAXIS

JOSE DIOGENES DIAS GONCALVES 17 May 2021 (has links)
[en] The research presents the main themes of the theological-political thought of Johann Baptist Metz that serves as a matrix for rethinking the responsibility and praxis of fundamental theology. Such thinking not only addresses the issue of human suffering, but seeks to ground the commitment of Political Theology, the Church and Christianity as a foundational element of God s salvific project in the person of Jesus Christ. The structure of the dissertation is composed of three parts. Starting with a short biography of the author, discusses the term New Political Theology which undergoes a hermeneutics change rescuing it as an effective theological instrument. The second block deals with the applicability of Fundamental Theology, starting from the questions that surround the theme of theodicy in the post-Enlightenment context. The last part deals with the Memoria Passionis; the solidarity with the suffering of others cannot allow the pain to be forgotten, as well as the death of those who suffer should not be meaningless. The thesis sought to present the thought of Johann Baptist Metz highlighting three major thematic groups which certainly are not exhaustive, but indicative. The author s thinking plays an important role in the course of Christianity. His Political Theology is highly relevant and current to think theologically the unfair questions of society, such as inequality and the growing migration of people. It is hoped that the present work may arouse the interest of deepening in the thinking of this prolific author, who has much to contribute to the theology of Latin America and the world.

It grounds the search for the transformation of unjust social structures in return to Judeo-Christian traditions. In harmony with the spirit of the Second Vatican Council, embracing the project of God s Kingdom for peace in the world. Converging points include Otherness, Unlimited Responsibility, the Face of the Other, the dialogue of Self and Thou, Prophetic Language, and peace-engaged politics. The thesis is divided into three parts: the author s biography, the Theology of the World, unlimited time, history, and humanity s relationship with God; the praxis of Fundamental Theology, hermeneutical change, and its theological effectiveness. The second section presents thinkers of Jewish origin who suffered under Nazi persecution: Abraham Heschel, Emmanuel Levinas, Hans Jonas, and Martin Buber, relating their experiences and theological and philosophical contributions. The final part addresses the silence of God, the authority of the victim, human suffering, anamnesis in Christianity, narrative didactics, compassion, and Christianity s responsibility in the Shoah. The thesis aims to emphasize the dialogue among these authors, recognizing the relevance of their contributions to bringing Judaism and Christianity closer together and reflecting on unjust issues in society. It is hoped that this work will spark interest in Metz s thought and his contributions to Latin American and global theology, encouraging reflections on important and often overlooked questions.

Beyond the memory: the era of witnessing – analyzing processes of knowledge production and memorialization of the Holocaust through the concepts of translocal assemblage and witness creation

Gerber, Myriam Bettina 09 May 2016 (has links)
This paper considers the symbiotic relationship between iconic visual representations of the Holocaust – specifically film and Holocaust sites – and processes of Holocaust memorialization. In conjunction, specific sites and objects related to the Holocaust have become icons. I suggest that specific Holocaust sites as well as Holocaust films can be perceived as elements of one and/or multiple translocal assemblage/s. My focus in this analysis is on the role of knowledge production and witness creation in Holocaust memorialization. It is not my intention to diminish the role of Holocaust memorialization; rather, I seek to look beyond representational aspects, and consider the processual relationships involved in the commemoration of the Holocaust in institutions, such as memorial sites and museums, as well as through elements of popular culture, such as films. Furthermore, I analyze the tangible and intangible layers of memories and meaning present in Holocaust films and sites through the lens of palimpsests. These conceptual frameworks allow me to consider how visual representations of the Holocaust, such as film, and site inform each other? How are specific representations of Holocaust sites and objects shaping and informing the commemoration of the Holocaust in the 21st century?

Comtois, Michèle 06 1900 (has links)
Camp presents a Nazi officer and his Jews : a little girl leaning on her previous life so that she’ll survive in her afterwards life, a young woman livened up by a pungent inner freedom and a group of prisoners, the grey herd. This story takes place within few days inside an extermination camp, in Poland. It is about an insane plan, envisioned and implemented by the Nazi whose discourse is similar to muddled and vacuous logorrheas. At the very roots of the unveiling of the character’s individuality (the prisoners), the quest for a denied humanity emanates from the grace and the vital force of the protagonist, the little girl, towards her plan-of-anyhow-life. First written in parallel then in the end, Forêt is not the continuation of Camp even if it is, as well… This brief poetical narrative relates a woman’s crossing of a forest while searching for her Edens. Hailed and quite often jeered for what it became, the site turns into an actant. Through its mythical remnants, Forest ergo compels the woman’s doomed step-by-step. The essay Quatre objets de mémoire focuses on the appropriation and transmission of the memory of the Holocaust through remnants, details, small things regarded here as imaginable traces. I examine quaint signs of unlikely objects (Third Reich’s administrative leaflets, Auschwitz-Birkenau’s fragmented pictures and images of its woods and latrines) in order to disclose small pieces of what is the hidden, the secretive and the unspeakable about the Final Solution. The affect experienced upon their contact, through what I call the “necessary abandonment”, is thusly analyzed with the purpose to comprehend the corresponding pains and to seize them for myself. Photo Artist Marie-Jeanne Musiol’s work on Auschwitz-Birkenau underlies this perennial desire to remember.

The destruction of Jews: What should I believe?

Mellquist, Magnus January 2018 (has links)
After World War II some people from all over Europe started to say that the destruction of the European Jews never happened. This article is written to compare the argument the Holocaust deniers are using against science document. The materials that have been used for this comparison are the books “Dog verkligen 6 miljoner? Sanning till sist” and ”En tom säck kan inte stå” which are the Holocaust deniers material. From the other side I have been using the Swedish states internet side Forum för levande historia, the site of Världens historia and the documentary of Auschwitz from BBC. The arguments will be studied from post fact theory specters, were I will compare the facts from the two sides and put them together. I will do that by look how the arguments from the two sides are built. I have also made questions that I have been asking by email the two sides. The Holocaust denier’s sides are the Swedish party called Nordiska Motståndsrörelsen (Nordic resistance movement) and the other side is Forum för levande historia (Forum of living history). The result that this study will show are when you put all the arguments from the Holocaust deniers together, their argument will not be as strong as when they are by them self.
