This is a study of the reactions of high school students in Sweden when reading A Modest proposal (Swift, 1729). If they get the chance to write whatever they want about the text, what do they find important? This study emanates from Rosenblatts (2002) view of reading out of two different stances: the aesthetical and the efferent. The aesthetical mode is reading for pleasure and experiencing the text, whilst in efferent reading the reader is primarily focused on what he or she will carry away as information from the text (Rosenblatt). To be able to categorize the material from the students more properly, a different set of ideas about reading modes, obtained from Tengberg (2011), is also presented and used in this essay.

Šiame darbe analizuojamas „tuščios laikmenos“ mokestis, jo įgyvendinimas Lietuvoje, bandoma numatyti galimus jo raidos variantus ateityje. Šį darbą suskirstėme į tris dalis: pirmojoje nagrinėjome „tuščios laikmenos“ mokesčio pagrindą – atgaminimo asmeniniais tikslais apribojimą, antrojoje – įvertinome esamą mokesčio surinkimo ir paskirstymo sistemą Lietuvoje, trečiojoje įžvelgėme galimas „tuščios laikmenos“ mokesčio vystymosi perspektyvas. Nagrinėdami asmeninio atgaminimo apribojimą didelį dėmesį skyrėme bendriesiems klausimams (atgaminimo sąvokai, autorių teisių apribojimo sampratai, trijų pakopų testui), tačiau atskleidėme ir konkretaus apribojimo turinį (išnagrinėjome jo apibrėžimus pateikiamus įvairiuose teisės aktuose, aptarėme atgaminimo šaltinio teisėtumo problematiką, apribojimo santykį su vartotojų sudaromomis licencinėmis sutartimis). Vertindami „tuščios laikmenos“ mokesčio įgyvendinimo praktiką Lietuvoje tyrėme kiek mokėtojai ir gavėjai atitinka asmeninio atgaminimo išimties keliamus reikalavimus, kaip mokesčio paskirstymas yra susiejamas su asmeninio atgaminimo išimtimi, nagrinėjome mokesčio tarifo ir apmokestinamų objektų sąrašo pagrįstumą. Įvertinę esamą padėti bandėme įžvelgti galimus jos vystymosi variantus, aptarėme jų tikimybę. / The paper analyzes „blank media“ levy, its practice in Lithuania, looks through possible future development. This work consists of three parts: in the first part we examined the ground of the „blank media“ levy – private copy exception, in the second part we evaluated the system of collection and distribution which is functioning in Lithuania, in the third part of this work we perceived possible future development of „blank media“ levy. Analyzing private copying exception we payed attention on common questions (such as conception of reproduction, limitations of copyright and three step test), but also desclosed the contents of the exact limitation (we have analyzed the conception of private copying exception in various legal acts, discussed problems related to requirements of legality of reproduction source, the relation of consumer licence agreements and limitation). We have evaluated „blank media“ levy realization practice in Lithuania, this was done by studing how payers and recievers of „blank media“ levy coresponds with requirements set by private copy exception, how distribution of levy is connected with limitation, we have searched for the grounds of object and rate of levy. After evaluating the practice of private copying levy, we tryed to percieve future development models of „blank media“ levy and the probability of each of it.

In this paper we thoroughly cover the issue of blank nodes, which have been defined in RDF as "existential variables". We first introduce the theoretical precedent for existential blank nodes from first order logic and incomplete Information in database theory. We then cover the different (and sometimes incompatible) treatment of blank nodes across the W3C stack of RDF-related standards. We present an empirical survey of the blank nodes present in a large sample of RDF data published on the Web (the BTC-2012 dataset), where we find that 25.7% of unique RDF terms are blank nodes, that 44.9% of documents and 66.2% of domains featured use of at least one blank node, and that aside from one Linked Data domain whose RDF data contains many "blank node cycles", the vast majority of blank nodes form tree structures that are efficient to compute simple entailment over. With respect to the RDF-merge of the full data, we show that 6.1% of blank-nodes are redundant under simple entailment. The vast majority of non-lean cases are isomorphisms resulting from multiple blank nodes with no discriminating information being given within an RDF document or documents being duplicated in multiple Web locations. Although simple entailment is NP-complete and leanness-checking is coNP-complete, in computing this latter result, we demonstrate that in practice, real-world RDF graphs are sufficiently "rich" in ground information for problematic cases to be avoided by non-naive algorithms.

One technique being used to reduce employee turnover is the Weighted Application Blank. Data obtained from application blanks are analyzed and weights are assigned to each item. Utilizing these weights, predicted scores are derived and compared to each person's actual tenure to determine the effectiveness of the model. The present study analyzed application blank data from the files of 93 currently employed and 69 terminated female clerical workers. Twelve items were analyzed by means of a stepwise multiple linear regression procedure, with months of tenure being the dependent variable. The five most significant items yielded a multiple correlation of .54. The total sample also was divided randomly into two groups, and cross-group analyses resulted in simple correlations of .56 and .29.

This master‘s thesis is concerned by accuracy cutting of the process. The aim of this graduation theses is to describe metodology quantification of the parameters accuracy of cutting process and to check it. Firstly, there are the parameters accuracy of cutting process identified. Secondary, there are particular technological influences over accuracy of shaping process characterized. In the conclusion, there are characteristics accuracy of shaping process quantified and tested in practice.
