A personal assistant for the enactment of business processes / Un assistant personnel pour la gestion de processus métiers

Fuckner, Márcio 22 April 2016 (has links)
Over the last few years, the advances in management science and information technology have transformed the business process management (BPM) discipline into an important topic for both industry and academy. BPM uses business processes as the means for improving the operational performance of organizations, and setting processes are at the heart of BPM allows linking together people, systems, and different organizations to deliver value to stakeholders. The target of our work is the family of BPM systems. A BPM system is a generic software system that is driven by explicit process designs to enact and manage operational business processes. Despite the wide range of topics addressed by the academy on business processes, there are still aspects not addressed by prior research. A particular problem in this regard is the mediation between BPM systems and humans. Human interaction in those systems follows a standard user interface based predominantly on work item lists and forms. Thus, there is little room for creativity for users. They have not only difficulties in enacting their processes but also for searching the most suitable one for their needs. It would be more efficient to let humans interact in natural language. However, process modeling languages are an insufficient means of capturing and representing the domain of discourse. The present thesis develops an original approach to agent dialog management for the problem of business process enactment. The overarching motivation for this work was to design a dialog model scalable to different domains. The model relies on domain and business process ontologies, and necessitates a minimum effort of adaptation on ontologies to improve the interaction. Results indicate the potential of our agent-based approach to generate natural language.

This study aimed to model process in Architecture and Engineering for the realization of public projects and works. As a way, we used the Business Process Management (BPM), one management strategy developed to identify, document, implement, monitor and improve business processes as a way to achieve consistent results aligned with the organization strategies. Based in a BPM cycle, we developed the following stages: planning, process analysis, optimization and modeling. In the planning phase, we did the identification and categorization of the typical activities of the responsible sector for projects and constructions of Architecture and Engineering of a public institution and the verification of possible malfunctions trough ambient analysis and the construction of a structure of process classification.

There is a tendency among organizations opt for a Business Process Management approach instead of the traditional functional approach. BPM Center of Excellence can be a proposed answer to the lack of integration of process management projects. In contrast, the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) need to broaden their managerial effectiveness and process management can be a solution. The opportunity to research relating the themes led to the following research question: \" What proposing in a BPM Center of Excellence for an Institution of Higher Education ? \" . To answer this question the overall goal of this work was to propose an BPM Center of Excellence in a Higher Education Institution. To achieve the main objective, two specific objectives were set: to develop a framework to propose a Process Office and develop a proposal for an Center of Excellence in an HEI. To meet these objectives, this paper combines the use of two methodological approaches: literature review and case studies. The results of the research framework were developed to propose a BPM Center of Excellence and the proposal of the Office of Proceedings for IES. The research contributed to the state of the art on the subject BPM Center of Excellence. The proposal of the Office and framework were innovative from the point of view of literature as it brought a model of a BPM Center of Excellence that literature does not address. This study helped to said HEIs to start setting up BPM Center of Excellence. Among those interested in the study, we highlight HEIs , organizations in general , responsible for business processes , researchers and consultants .

Supporting Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team Dynamics with Business Process Management

Catal, Nihan January 2016 (has links)
[Context] Interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IHTs) include practitioners from different disciplines who collaborate for providing care to patients. IHTs often follow clinical workflows composed of tasks that must be executed by practitioners with specific capabilities. The membership in an IHT can however evolve over time for a given patient. [Problem] Existing Business Process Management (BPM) suites and their workflow execution engines are designed for supporting and monitoring general workflows, but they are insufficient in supporting the allocation of tasks to the most suitable practitioners during the execution of healthcare workflows in a dynamic context. [Methodology] Using Design Science Research, this thesis builds on top of an existing semantic layer, which includes an ontology defining IHT team concepts and relationships that are used to reason automatically about team dynamics, in order to add dynamic team management to BPM suites. It does so by proposing and designing middleware (including a generic interface) that enables the semantic layer to command the BPM suite to allocate suitable practitioners to tasks during the execution of clinical workflows. The design and implementation of this middleware are discussed, and the latter is tested on a commercial BPM suite for two realistic clinical processes. [Results] The proof-of-concept implementation demonstrates the feasibility of using middleware with a generic interface to add support for IHT executing BPM suite when managing a patient. In addition, the thesis also demonstrates that the ontology used in the semantic layer is minimal, that is, all of its concepts and relationships are necessary for the required team functionalities (usually absent from BPM tools) to work properly.

SOA Governance jako další vývojový stupeň zavádění SOA architektury. / SOA Governance

Pršala, Ondřej January 2008 (has links)
The thesis is focused on administration and supervision of Service oriented architecture (SOA). The main idea of SOA is system decomposition to functional units, which contain bounded and well understandable functionality. This functionality, in form of service, is provided to other units through clearly described interface. Well-identified relationships between service provider and service consumer are created. SOA governance aims to manage these relationships, to monitor quality of services and to control adherence of stated rules and policies. These rules and policies are established by central team responsible for integration and architecture development. Starting point of successful architecture development is acquaintance of service portfolio and their inter-relationships. Each service should go through whole formal life-cycle, which particular phases have special policies applied. Main interest is devoted to run-time phase - run-time monitoring and run-time governance. Theory is complemented by practical examples of report generation and service monitoring with SLA adherence observation. The thesis also contains structural model of SOA governance taking into account infrastructural elements of SOA and information flows between them.

Využití agentů v business procesech / Using Multi-Agent Systems in Business Process Modeling

Doskočilová, Veronika January 2011 (has links)
This work deals with the possibilities of using agents and multiagent systems in the areas of business process management and business process modeling. The aim of the theoretical part is to describe the theory of artificial agents, to assess the benefits of this approach and to describe current applications of MAS in BPM. In the theoretical part I also describe the issue of management and business process modeling and methodology MMABP. The aim of the analytical part is to summarize the possibilities of using MAS in BPM in the situations where business processes are already described and modeled and in the situations where there are no such descripctions nor models yet . In this part I also want to introduce my theory of agent-process, which is the possibility of looking at processes as autonomous agents. This theory is presented in practical demonstrations and examples by using the TROPOS methodology, and this theory is supported by references from the areas of agent and business process modeling.

Procesní model obchodní společnosti

Vyleťal, Petr January 2006 (has links)
Process management is frequently used term these days. The aim of this diploma thesis is to explain, what „process“ actually means, what has been the historical evolution, what are its alternatives, but mainly what are the benefits for the company. Even though the title of this thesis is „Process model of trading company“, its content goes further than that. Creation of company’s process model is only one part, even though important, of the process- based management of the company (Business Process Management, BPM). Moreover, the methods and procedures described in this thesis can be used almost in any company, not only in the trading one. The main contribution of this thesis is in its broad view of process management. This thesis deals with some topics, which at the first sight don’t even relate to BPM (ISO standards or Change Management). Nevertheless, after closer examination the link becomes obvious. Most of the methods described in the theoretical part of this document are later used in its practical part for the BPM implementation proposal in the concrete company. The read is thus given an option to immediately confront theory with reality and visualize sometimes very general theoretical procedures. This document is structured in 5 chapters. The first chapter introduces a reader to this thesis topic, reasons for its selection and the aims, benefits and limitations. The second chapter shows the meaning of process management in the broader context of related concepts. The aim of the third chapter is to show practical use of process management. The fourth chapter is dedicated to implementation proposal of BPM in specific company. First, the company is described and its main aspects analyzed, which enables to present the company strategy. Then, the most important company processes are modeled and described, together with their evaluation and optimization proposal. The benefits and advantages of BPM are outlined in the closing chapter.

Harju Schnee, Linn, Wallentin, Rakel January 2021 (has links)

Linear dynamic logic on finite traces in business process management : a compositional approach

Hedqvist, Mathias January 2022 (has links)
One way of modeling workflows in business process management (BPM) is by using a declarative approach, that is, instead of imperatively specifying what needs to be done, and in what order, one can specify constraints on what is allowed. The result is a more flexible model as everything that does not violate the specified constraints is allowed. In recent years, Linear Temporal Logic on finite traces (LTLf) has been one of the available logics used to specify such constraints. However, LTLf lacks the ability to monitor metaconstraints (i.e., constraints overconstraints). To handle this, one can use Linear Dynamic Logic on finite traces (LDLf) instead. In their paper Monitoring Constraints and Metaconstraints withTemporal Logics on Finite Traces, De Giacomo et al. (2020) presented a framework, and a formal way of translating LDLf formula to an executable Deterministic Finite Automaton (DFA), to be used in BPM. The algorithm they used for the translation was LDLf2NFA. This paper investigates if the construction time, and the size, of the DFA can be reduced by using a compositional algorithm, CLDLf, instead. The results show that the time can be reduced for larger formulae, that is, formulae with a length above 20. However, as both algorithms produce a minimal DFA as the end product, no reduction in size (i.e., the number of states) could be made.

Unknown Date (has links)
Enterprise model is more complicated as business expanded, so between the service functions and business processes are more complexity. Meanwhile, the insurance companies face the changes and competitions of outside financial environment. They try to make the break through to provide the diversified services and multiple channel strategy; they also try to maintain the position in existing market place. The old IT systems of insurance company consider the systematic automation only and do not emphasis the business processes. Recently the insurance company tendency is to develop products of combined investment and new distribution channels of cross industry. To form, include the products, the channels, the services, a new business model and business process, and to bring of IT systems more impacts. The IT systems of insurance company develop many different platforms in the way of business fast grow. This is the reason why that it is difficult to maintain and integrate the systems. The result causes the ineffectiveness of business process and performance. To make a summary, the IT systems of insurance company are facing a re-thinking critical point. Perform the IT abilities to bring up the difference superiority and to create the new ideal systems to help the insurance company for creating the products, approach and services. This research aims at implementing Business Process Management (BPM), from theory and practices, to understand the impacts and supports of IT development. Finally, try to by the actual cases to search and provide the architecture of system reengineering via implementation of BPM.
