Towards an Integrated Framework for Quality and Information Security Management in Small Companies

Große, Christine January 2016 (has links)
This master thesis elaborates the construction of an integrated framework for the simultaneous initiation of quality management and information security management within micro and small enterprises. Called QISMO, the model collection consists of three parts: (1) a holistic framework as structure dedicated to achieving a shared understanding among key stakeholders concerned about relations and dependencies, (2) a reference process model for visualising the entire process with the activities related, and (3) a lifecycle model for illustrating the process loop and for clarifying specific phases therein. This study offers an analysis of alternative approaches that results in premises and requirements adapted to micro and small enterprises. Furthermore, major barriers to the improvement of quality and information security management of micro and small enterprises are identified in this study. These include miscalculation of risks, lack of competence, and absence of structured processes. Aside from valuable insights for further development of enhanced training programs, the study contributes a comprehensive analysis of standards and good practices within the field of IT governance. Moreover, the study shares a concrete reference process model that is adapted to the preconditions of micro and small enterprises. These preconditions are acquired throughout the study. The proposition is to provide a basis for the further improvement of business processes and the models related to them, both in practice and in research.

Extensions de BPMN 2.0 et méthode de gestion de la qualité pour l'interopérabilité des données / BPMN 2.0 extensions and quality management method for nterprise data interoperability.

Heguy, Xabier 13 December 2018 (has links)
Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is being becoming the most used standard for business process modelling. One of the important upgrades of BPMN 2.0 with respect to BPMN 1.2 is the fact that Data Objects are now handling semantic elements. Nevertheless, BPMN doesn't enable the representation of performance measurement in the case of interoperability problems in the exchanged data object, which remains a limitation when using BPMN to express interoperability issues in enterprise processes. We propose to extend the Meta-Object Facility meta-model and the XML Schema Definition of BPMN as well as the notation in order to fill this gap. The extension, named performanceMeasurement, is defined using the BPMN Extension Mechanism. This new element will allow to represent performance measurement in the case of interoperability problems as well as interoperability concerns which have been solved. We illustrate the use of this extension with an example from a real industrial case.

Uma abordagem multinível para a obtenção de alinhamento estratégico no gerenciamento de processos de negócio / Making the link between strategy and process model collections: a multilayered approach

Dallilo, Felipe Diniz 11 April 2014 (has links)
Como resultado foi possível constatar não apenas a efetividade em alcançar os objetivos propostos como também a facilidade na utilização e compreensão da abordagem em níveis devido a simplicidade na representação dos elementos e seus possíveis relacionamentos / Theoretically, the Strategic Alignment can be accomplished with a good Business Process Management, but the relationship between these themes is, most often, implicitly assumed and little developed, making it difficult to visualize and link between the strategies and the models of detailed processes, being necessary to undertake research towards an effective union of the two themes. This study developed a multilevel metamodel for connecting strategic objectives with organizational business processes through modeling of business processes. The conceptual work was increased by a support tool for modeling that allows the generation of models based on multilevel metamodel and also the representation of models in different forms of abstraction. The approach was applied in a large multinational and was subsequently conducted an experimental evaluation in which interviews with employees from different hierarchical levels were performed to validate the efficiency and effectiveness of their work. As a result it was possible to not only the effectiveness in achieving the proposed objectives as well as the ease of use and understanding of the tiered approach because of the simplicity in the representation of the elements and their possible relationships

A methodology for Agri-industrial system modeling in order to identify traceability and quality parameters - a continental malacoculture application.

Cunha, Gilberto José da 07 October 2008 (has links)
It is proposed the application of some Systems and Software Engeneering techniques to the modeling of agro-industrial systems, in an innovative way, defining a methodology in order to better understand the activities and relationships among the many agents within an specific supply chain. It also permits the productive chain graphical modeling using IDEF0, BPMN and Use Cases. The main goal is to identify information for product traceability and quality through the productive chain. There is also presented, another innovation, the application of this methodology to the Continental Malacoculture Agro-industrial System. Customers\' requirements for agro food products quality, safety and traceability have been rising year after year due to the fear of health problems, such as the mad cow disease. The Productive Chain Modeling helps identifying the information and automation needs of a production chain, exploring its possibilities in order to specify information systems that support the business of the many agents throughout the agro food chain and fulfills customers\' quality and traceability requirements. The application of Use Case Model is also presented for requirements and traceability identification and gathering throughout the productive chain. The Use Case technique applied to the productive chain helps to specify more quality and adherent information systems. As an example of those methods, some business and information processes modeling applied to the Continental Malacoculture Productive Chain are presented, using the IDEF0, BPMN and use case techniques. Worldwide aquaculture has increased in importance due to growth and successive increase in productivity, conferring this type of production an outstanding position in the international animal production sector. Amongst different modalities of aquaculture, in the last two decades, the production of escargots (malacoculture) has deserved attention from businessmen, government and researchers. In continental waters, Continental Malacoculture, especially ampullariculture can be seen as a way of producing low impact mollusks, using a system compatible with small farms production, contributing to a greater increase in the availability of high nutritional value food and also improving rural families\' income.

Balbinot, Marcelo January 2017 (has links)
Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) makes it possible to display information about the data flow of a process through data and artifacts such as objects, associations and data stores. However, these elements provide a limited capacity, especially when referring to the mapping of the data sources (e.g. web service) in a process model. In this context, this paper proposes an approach to associate data sources to BPMN elements (e.g. service task). Such approach aims to serve as a starting point to business process management professionals in order to map, in design time, the data source that is being used by the process, through the use of BPMN elements. In order to demonstrate the results, five correlations were evidenced, which are called “definitions proposals”, followed by their textual description and an example of use. These definitions proposals, together with the data sources used, were evaluated through a survey. As a result, the selected data sources were validated by the participants of the survey that demonstrated knowledge in at least one of the data sources, providing evidence that the selected data sources are the most appropriated for the work concerned. Also, as results, the definitions proposals were validated with the participants, obtaining positive results regarding to the process fragments designed to represent the data sources internal data, file transfer and shared database. The main contribution of this thesis is to assist the identification of data sources of a business process, from the set of elements provided by BPMN 2.0.2, where, previously, such identification was only possible through the process documentation.

Process modeling guidelines : systematic literature review and experiment

Avila, Diego Toralles January 2018 (has links)
Process modeling is an indispensable task in the discipline of Business Process Management. The process models created in this task help its readers in to acquiring a higher comprehension of a process, allowing for the discovery of opportunities for its improvement. However, the comprehension of a process model is not guaranteed, as process modeling is a complex task that depends on the proficiency of the process modeler to avoid the creation of badly designed constructs. Process modeling guidelines are an essential tool in this regard, though they are dispersed across the many studies of the literature and not all of them have empirical evidence validating their effects. In addition to this problem, it is still an open questions if a set of process modeling guidelines makes the process modeling task more challenging and how effective modelers are in using them. It is also unclear how receptive process analysts are to the modeling guidelines. This dissertation presents a systematic literature review we conducted to collect and analyze the modeling guidelines found in the literature. It investigated a total of 520 articles, extracting a total of 45 modeling guidelines spread across 4 different categories. These 45 guidelines were simplified into a set of 20 guidelines, based on their significance to create more comprehensible process models and their practicality. This dissertation also presents the findings of an empirical experiment performed by 13 subjects that compared the results of two process modeling tasks with and without the support of the 20 modeling guidelines presented by the review, in which it was possible to observe that the subjects recognize the usefulness of the guidelines, but find them difficult to understand and use.

Elischer, Viliam January 2011 (has links)
The presented thesis offers in a wrapped form some basic information about HR procesess in an existing company and at the same time it draws new improvement options by applying an ontological solution. The aim of the thesis is based on a performed process analysis to select and resolve identified deficiencies by planed process improvements. Furthermore the author's solution enables to extend nowadays available options IT systems. The result of the diploma thesis is the description and categorisation of investigated process inefficiencies, followed by a relevant solution of ontological nature designed for elimination of the detected inefficiencies. The thesis is divided into three parts. First of them is oriented to characterise organization's environment, second part contains detailed analysis of hiring process and its subprocesses. Discussion about one of the most main uneffectivity's way, method of using IT systems in a process of process, runs on a base of knowledge contained in previous parts of the thesis.
