Paiva, Jose Eduardo Ribeiro de, 1959- 16 April 2002 (has links)
Orientador: Nelly de Camargo / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Artes / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-01T14:35:16Z (GMT). Trata-se, pois, de um estudo introdutório sobre algo que, com certeza, está revolucionando os paradigmas da criação e execução musical / Abstract: Music and Technology have walked side by side for a long time; but with the development and miniaturization of new equipaments of performance and recording, musicians need to have knowledge of new tools for their work, besides just musical performance. With this, concepts of recording and editing timbers have become part of their day to day just as much as chords and measures and need specific teaching tools for their comprehension. Multimedia appears to be the most interesting and complete vehicle for the development of these new tools not only because of the interaction of the mediums but also for being intimately connected to the technology of musical production. Therefore, the basic idea of this project is to create a teaching product of multimedia about music and technology based on practical teaching experiences and to cheok its efficacy with a small voluntary group. It is and introductory work dealing with something that is certainly revolutionizing musical creation and performance / Doutorado / Doutor em Multimeios

Litorapid Media AB : En företagspresentation bestående av en hemsida och en cd-produktion / Litorapid Media AB : A Companypresentation consisting of a home page and a cd-production

Falck, Sara, Johansson, Karin January 2002 (has links)
Litorapid Media AB is a printer and prepresscompany, located on Hisingen, Gothenburg. Litorapid is a relatively large company, and is therefore in great need of convenient contacts with becoming and present customers. Seeing that they work with the most rescent technique in the branch of printing, it is important that they market themselves in a modern way. The purpose with this project became, for that reason, to create a more contemporary home page for the company to catch new customers, as well as aninteractive presentation of the company to create a more personal contact with customers they alreay have. The home page was created in the programme Macromedia Dreamweaver 4, and its design is based on previouly distributed brochures. The interface is very much adapted to please the user. The interactive presentation of the company is created in Macromedia Director 7 and is divided into three different divisions. One part where you can get practical information concerning how to hand in information to Litorapid, one which serves the purpose of giving the same information as the home page, and the last and largest part is a tour of the company in eight steps, where one can follow a printed matter being produced from start to finish. The material used is gathered at Litorapid’s office with a digital camera and a videorecorder. The final result is a homepage and a presentation of the company, showing the activity of Litorapid in a appealing and personal way. Furthermore, it is easy for customers to find the information they need. The new hompage is modern, and the introduction helps to catch the eye of an Internet user. The interactive presentation of the company gives us more details of Litorapid’s activity and is entertaining as well as informative. With these two marketing products Litorapid is shown as a contemporary printer.

Grönroos, Markus, Björk, Whashin Kang January 2002 (has links)
This report describes the process of the examination work that was made after an offer from BrandEx Brandtätningar AB. A company that fireprotects buildings, ships, oil platforms and so on. An official web site and a CD-ROM-production were created for the company. The web site was constructed in the web editing software Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 and the CD-ROM-production in the authoring tool for multimedia production Macromedia Director 7. The used material contained pictures and PDF-files from BrandEx archives, but lot of new material was created, for instance animations and own music tracks. Calculation of Aerodynamic Noise of Wing Airfoils by Hybrid Methods

Matouk, Rabea 29 November 2016 (has links)
This research is situated in the field of Computational AeroAcoustics (CAA). The thesis focuses on the computation of the aerodynamic noise generated by turbulent flows around wing, fan, or propeller airfoils. The computation of the noise radiated from a device is the first step for designers to understand the acoustical characteristics and to determine the noise sources in order to modify the design toward having acoustically efficient products. As a case study, the broadband or trailing-edge noise emanating from a CD (Controlled-Diffusion) airfoil, belonging to a fan is studied. The hybrid methods of aeroacoustic are applied to simulate and predict the radiated noise. The necessary tools were researched and developed. The hybrid methods consist in two steps simulations, where the determination of the aerodynamic field is decoupled from the computation of the acoustic waves propagation to the far field, so the first part of this thesis is devoted to an aerodynamic study of the considered airfoil. In this part of the thesis, a complete aerodynamic study has been performed. Some aspects have been developed in the used in-house solver SFELES, including the implementation of a new SGS model, a new outlet boundary condition and a new transient format which is used to extract the noise sources to be exported to the acoustic solver, ACTRAN. The second part of this thesis is concerned with the aeroacoustic study where four methods have been applied, among them two are integral formulations and the two others are partial-differential equations. The first method applied is Amiet’s theory, implemented in Matlab, based on the wall-pressure spectrum extracted in a point near the trailing edge. The second method is Curle’s formulation. It is applied proposing two approaches; the first approach is the implementation of the volume and surface integrals in SFELES to be calculated simultaneously with the flow in order to avoid the storage of noise sources which requires a huge space. In the second approach, the fluctuating aerodynamic forces, already obtained during the aerodynamics simulation, are used to compute the noise considering just the surface sources. Finally, Lighthil and Möhring analogies have been applied via the acoustic solver ACTRAN using sources extracted via SFELES. Maps of the radiated noise are demonstrated for several frequencies. The refraction effects of the mean flow have been studied.

HST Detection of Extended Neutral Hydrogen in a Massive Elliptical at z = 0.4

Zahedy, Fakhri S., Chen, Hsiao-Wen, Rauch, Michael, Zabludoff, Ann 08 September 2017 (has links)
We report the first detection of extended neutral hydrogen (H I) gas in the interstellar medium (ISM) of a massive elliptical galaxy beyond z similar to 0. The observations utilize the doubly lensed images of QSO HE 0047-1756 at z(QSO) = 1.676 as absorption-line probes of the ISM in the massive (M-star approximate to 10(11) M-circle dot) elliptical lens at z = 0.408, detecting gas at projected distances of d = 3.3 and 4.6 kpc on opposite sides of the lens. Using the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph, we obtain UV absorption spectra of the lensed QSO and identify a prominent flux discontinuity and associated absorption features matching the Lyman series transitions at z = 0.408 in both sightlines. The H I column density is log N(H I)= 19.6-19.7 at both locations across the lens, comparable to what is seen in 21 cm images of nearby ellipticals. The H I gas kinematics are well-matched with the kinematics of the Fe II absorption complex revealed in ground-based echelle data, displaying a large velocity shear of approximate to 360 km s(-1) across the galaxy. We estimate an ISM Fe abundance of 0.3-0.4 solar at both locations. Including likely dust depletions increases the estimated Fe abundances to solar or supersolar, similar to those of the hot ISM and stars of nearby ellipticals. Assuming 100% covering fraction of this Fe-enriched gas, we infer a total Fe mass of M-cool(Fe) similar to (5-8) x 10(4) M-circle dot in the cool ISM of the massive elliptical lens, which is no more than 5% of the total Fe mass observed in the hot ISM.

Non-comital women of twelfth-century England : a charter based analysis

Kilpi, Hanna Ilona January 2015 (has links)
This thesis sets out to explore the place and agency of non-comital women in twelfth-century Anglo-Norman England. Until now, broad generalisations have been applied to all aristocratic women based on a long established scholarship on royal and comital women. Non-comital women have been overlooked, mainly because of an assumed lack of suitable sources from this time period. The first aim of this thesis is to demonstrate that there is a sufficient corpus of charters for a study of this social group of women. It is based on a database created from 5545 charters, of which 3046 were issued by non-comital women and men, taken from three case study counties, Oxfordshire, Suffolk and Yorkshire, and is also supported by other government records. This thesis demonstrates that non-comital women had significant social and economic agency in their own person. By means of a detailed analysis of charters and their clauses this thesis argues that scholarship on non-comital women must rethink the framework applied to the study of non-comital women to address the lifecycle as one of continuities and as active agents in a wider public society. Non-comital women’s agency and identity was not only based on land or in widowhood, which has been the one period in their life cycles where scholars have recognised some level of autonomy, and women had agency in all stages of their life cycle. Women’s agency and identity were drawn from and part of a wider framework that included their families, their kin, and broader local political, religious, and social networks. Natal families continued to be important sources of agency and identity to women long after they had married. Part A of the thesis applies modern charter diplomatic analysis methods to the corpus of charters to bring out and explore women’s presence therein. Part B contextualises these findings and explores women’s agency in their families, landholding, the gift-economy, and the wider religious and social networks of which they were a part.

Contribution à l'étude du rôle de CD146 soluble dans langiogenèse et de l'effet du blocage du récepteur P2Y12 sur la lésion endothéliale lors d'une angioplastie coronaire / Contribution to th study of the role of soluble CD146 in angiogenesis and effect pf P2Y12 receptor blockade on endothelial injury during percutaneous coronary intervention

Harhouri, Karim 20 December 2010 (has links)
We showed that the recombinant human soluble CD146 (rh-sCD146) has a chemotactic and angiogenic effect on endothelial progenitor derived cells (EPC) by increasing their ability to migrate, to proliferate and to form pseudo- capillaries. In an in vivo experiments model of ischemia in the rat by femoral artery ligation we showed that repeated local injections of rh-sCD146 for 12 days allows a significant reduction in the rate of animals self-amputation and an increase in the rate of blood perfusion of the leg and in the capillary density. In a second part of the work, we have shown that percutaneous coronary intervention induced a significant rise in circulating endothelial cells (CEC) levels 6h after the procedure (H6). The endothelial injury, assessed by CEC delta-change between H6 and H0, was significantly higher in the high on-treatment platelet reactivity group compared with the good responders to Clopidogrel and correlated with the Vasodilatator-Stimulated Phosphoprotein index
