An overview of the value and effect of an integration of Christian spirituality and ethics

Stavridis, Glenn Brian 11 1900 (has links)
The modern world is experiencing a spiritual and moral cns1s. Associated with this, Christian spirituality and ethics have become separated in the life of the individual Christian and the community of the church. The Christian understanding of human beings and the integrated nature of spirituality and ethics provides a solution to this crisis. Christian spirituality and morality both originate in the character and purposes of God as revealed in the biblical record. The value and effects of the integral relationship between spirituality and morality can be traced throughout scripture and the history of the church. The. encounter and relationship with God, in Jesus Christ and through the presence and power of God's Spirit, transforms the disciple of Christ, which means that spirituality is the basic framework and motivation for morality. Integrated spiritual and moral formation creates moral character and moral communities which enable believers to act with love and justice. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M.Th. These roles may be used to re-shape current qualifications, as well as to research and design new qualifications. They are intended as initial guidelines for providers. The following registered categories for pastoral counsellors/therapists were proposed by the accreditation committee and accepted by SAAP: Category 1: Basic level pastoral counsellor (NQF Level 2) Category 2: Post basic level pastoral counsellor (NQF level 3) Category 3: Intermediate level pastoral counsellor (NQF Level 4) Category 4: Advanced level pastoral therapist (NQF Level 5/6) Category 5: Specialist level pastoral therapist (NQF Level 7 /8) The following outcomes (unit standards) for Pastoral Counsellors/Therapists were identified: UNIT 1: Applying work ethics UNIT 2: Understanding pastoral counselling theory UNIT 3: Facilitating pastoral counselling skills UNIT 4: Conducting research UNIT 5: Developing self-knowledge Some of the recommendations were: It became necessary to have some form of regulation and/or even "control" to prevent the abuse of people who ostensibly suffer from mental illness. To establish professional standards for training in pastoral counselling and to obtain professional recognition for pastoral counsellors/therapists through accreditation and recognition from a relevant professional council. In doing this we should also come to an agreement on a proper set of work ethics. It was recommend that the level descriptors should be further elaborated through a careful analysis of the standards proposed, but that the process of moving from general to specific descriptors should be adopted in the absence of meaningful generic level descriptors. It was recommend that the proposed standards and qualifications should only be adopted once processes is established where an SGB has been established and registered with SAQA, and these standards and qualifications have been accepted by providers, professional Pastoral Counsellors/Therapists, professional associations, etc. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M. JE MOŽNÉ ŽÍT IDEÁL NAZARETSKÉ RODINY? / IS IT POSSIBLE TO LIVE THE IDEAL OF NASARETH FAMILY?

HOLKUP, Petr January 2010 (has links)
The work deals with philosophical and theological consideration of marriage as the natural institution. It comes out of the implied hypothesis of inherent ideals of love, failthfullness and inseparability, whose fulfillment man often searches in marriage. The theoretical part describes marriage and family from the point of view of the Christian ethics. It characterizes the sacramental and the non-sacramental marriages, looks for common ideas and points out their differences. It touches also the problems of contemporary families e.g. abortion, fertility and divorce rate. The practical part includes the results of the survey among the present-day young people about their ideals of Christian marriage. Then it analyses the birth registry entries for the period of 1993{--}1998 in Pelhřimov and its surroundings and compares the church marriages to the civil ones from the point of view of their divorce rate and the number of the children born in these marriages. The conclusion of the work evaluates the results of the practical part, compares it with the countrywide surveys and answers the introductory question of this work: if is possible to live the ideal of Nasareth family.

AIDS {--} NEMOC NEBO BOŽÍ TREST? / AIDS - a Disease or God´s Punishment?

VOBORNÍKOVÁ, Daniela January 2010 (has links)
Present work deals with the solution of the strain between Jewish-Christian picture of good and loving God and a tragic reality of AIDS phenomenon. The work looks for answers to questions such as: Is a human being able to influence their health by an ethical way of life? To what extend are we responsible for our diseases and difficulties? Is a disease God´s punishment?{\crqq} What is (can be) the sense of a disease? How can we explain the suffering of the innocent? The work looks for the connections between a disease and a sin, between AIDS and an immoral life. The work presents the HIV/AIDS issue as a phenomenon concerning all people without a difference. It solves if it is possible to perceive AIDS as a kind of God punishment for sinful and immoral behaviour of people, as a consequence of structural maleficence or a personal carelessness of a human person. It points out the methods of primary prevention and reminds the task of a Christian to bring Christian values into a human society. The way out is found in the change of thinking and behaviour of people: in the appreciation and acquirement of ethical demands and opening to God blessing for the assumption of belief.

The issue addressed in this paper develops the relationship between these issues, since the family in the society, the institutions and the school has a responsibility to contribute to the general education of adolescents and the students, and the religion contributes to the spiritual development of the human being through its religiosity. Each one seeking to develop its role, so that the main objective is to materialize as positive for society. Thus, this work proposes to research and identify the role of Family and Religious Education in adolescent ethics training in the Elementary School II, of the public schools of the city of Boa Vista - Roraima, focused on the transmission of values worked in the family and reinforced in school through the Religious Education discipline. In this sense it was carried out a field research and bibliographic, with qualitative and quantitative approach, exploratory, whose source of data collection and analysis, was a mixed questionnaire with open and closed questions, intended for students from public schools in Boa Vista-Roraima, where parents and guardians, collaborate with this work. The sample of the survey revealed that of the 198 students who took to the survey, 83 males and 115 females; 147 are in the age group up to 14 to 51 years are between the ages of 15 to 18 years old, all are attending school regularly. The participation of parents in the study was 167 people, 42 males and 125 females. As a result of the research, we can see the meeting of generations parents and children, are present through affective, where values strengthen family relationships. The big challenge is to practice, learn to use it often involves on the run, the activism of everyday reality is creating space, the values are being forgotten by both, and the relationship will fragmenting. Most students and parents agree that there is the discipline taught in school. The most compelling justifications are: knowledge, to respect other religion, work teaching values such as respect, to give value to others, help to have a balance between good and bad, to learn about religion and the knowledge of God, and to help to live in harmony to follow-up learning at home.

Politika firemní pohostinnosti ve světle křesťanské etiky / Politics of Corporate Hospitality in Light of Christian Ethics

Havelka, Ondřej January 2018 (has links)
The Diploma Thesis "Corporate Hospitality Policy in the Light of Christian Ethics" deals with the question whether there is a fair form and degree of rationalized corporate hospitality compatible with the bases of both general and Christian ethics. The thesis presents a comprehensive view of a wide range of approaches to corporate hospitality from selfless, over rationalized, up to binding, manipulating and corrupt. Corporate hospitality is a very current, widely used management tool. It can be a gratitude for cooperation, expression of regard and respect for a business partner, or demonstration of openness to future cooperation. However, corporate hospitality need not always be a step toward the other's unsecured space, but on the contrary, the effort to pre-ensure that space, and gain an advantage. Such hospitality can bind or even manipulate a business partner, with the goal of getting a job, insuring co-operation, or facilitating a way to profit. Such hospitality is already on the brink of corruption. An important part of the work is therefore to define corporate hospitality in relation to corruption and a deeper assessment of individual approaches to corporate hospitality. The thesis presents criteria of morally justifiable corporate hospitality and its limits elaborated for a particular...

An analysis of the role of Christian leaders in the schism in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Southern Africa, from 1899 to 1908

Biwa, Albert Eberhardt 11 1900 (has links)
Abstracts in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa / This research analyses the role of Christian leaders in the schisms that occurred in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Southern Africa, from 1899 to 1908. The study assesses whether their character and conduct were in keeping with the requirements of the law of the Church and the model of ethical leadership developed in this dissertation. The study assesses the different reasons for the schisms, as well as the impact of these schisms on the community, taking into consideration the socio-cultural contexts of the time. The dissertation discusses how Christian leaders ought to act and evaluates the consequences of the decisions made by the relevant leaders. Finally, the study explores pathways towards the restoration of separated churches. The study argues that the spiritual and moral formation of Christian leaders is essential for both the restoration of the AME Church and the prevention of schisms in the future / Hierdie navorsing ontleed die rol van Christelike leiers in die breuke wat van 1899 tot 1908 in die Afrika-Metodiste- Episkopale Kerk in Suidelike Afrika voorgekom het. [en] FOR A ETHICS MORE HUMAN: A REFLECTION UPON POSTMODERNITY ETHICAL REFERENCES AND THE ETHICAL PROPOSITION OF THE CHRISTIAN MESSAGE / [pt] POR UMA ÉTICA MAIS HUMANA: UMA REFLEXÃO SOBRE OS REFERENCIAIS ÉTICOS DA PÓS-MODERNIDADE E A PROPOSTA ÉTICA DA MENSAGEM CRISTÃ

JOVIR ALCEU ZANUZZO 29 September 2017 (has links)
[en] For a ethics more human - A reflection upon postmodernity ethical references and the ethical proposition of the Christian message presentes the postmodern society at times of constant technical-scientific evolution, the hypermodernity. Being subjected by constant technical-scientific evolution, postmodern society has achieved its summit. According to Gilles Lipovetsky, we have reached hypermodernity, in which the human-social manifestations take on a particular configuration, consequence of an intense process of personalization. This society characterizes itself by frequent innovations which don t always yield the pretended purpose. Many of its achievements are responsible for flagrant shortage of ethical values and principles, indifferent subjectivism and a generalized symptom of existential emptiness. While getting more vigorous, the irresponsible individualism becomes a real threat to human survival. This situation questions e dares everyone, revealing the urgency of new behavioral references that could stimulate new relationships and human attitudes, more solidary and responsible. As stated by Hans Kung, through the power of influence that they still possess, major religions are able to promote and stimulate novel ethical values and principles. Therefore, it is necessary to search for a minimum consensus, based on dialog and mutual respect. Reflecting upon the analysis accomplished by Gilles Lipovetsky and the ecumenical ethical proposition of Hans Kung, the present dissertation means to present the Christian message as an authentic ethical proposition, capable of bestowing a significant contribution to humanity in such vulnerable times. It is believed that Gospel s Good News overlays itself with significant worry towards human dignity and life in all its manifestations, offering the fundamental basis to build a more fair and human world.
