In Natal, as an inducing economic activity of its development, it conforms to the new needs of the capital, expanding, being materialized through several processes and spatial forms. We aim at analyzing one of those processes, which has taken its Northern Administrative Area to (re)define the design of its urban space, through the actions developed by the agents involved with the spatialization of the tertiary activities, at the same time as it redimensions its role as a periphery of Natal, contributing to the study of the recent and growing transformations of the Brazilian capitals. The studied district corresponds to 39.4% of the municipal area and, until recently, was composed by precarious reproduction spaces, unprovided of relevant economical activities. After the boom of the development of extensive housing complexes by SFH/BNH, the area, gradually stopped being a dependent area, and it imposed itself as an economically participant region, with the increase of the trade and services sectors, as well as a favorable place for the appearance of new activities. Its reflexes are noticeable in the achieved spatial configuration. As the main road to induct changes, Dr. Jo?o Medeiros Filho Avenue presents these new tendencies in the production of the intraurban space, concentrating the largest goods and services equipments of the area, through investments of the private and public sectors, which guarantee the capital allocation for the construction of a new centrality / O terci?rio vem (re) definindo e (re) qualificando espa?os urbanos de forma impactante nas cidades, introduzindo novos elementos para a discuss?o da rela??o centro/periferia. Em Natal, enquanto atividade econ?mica motor de seu desenvolvimento, adapta-se ?s novas necessidades do capital, expandindo-se, materializando-se atrav?s de diversos processos e formas espaciais. Objetivamos analisar um desses processos, que tem levado sua Regi?o Administrativa Norte a (re) definir o desenho de seu espa?o urbano, pelas a??es desenvolvidas via agentes envolvidos com a espacializa??o das atividades terci?rias, ao mesmo tempo em que redimensiona o seu papel como periferia de Natal, contribuindo para o estudo das recentes e crescentes transforma??es das capitais brasileiras. A regi?o estudada corresponde a 39,4% da ?rea municipal e at? recentemente era composta por prec?rios espa?os de reprodu??o, desprovida de atividades econ?micas relevantes. Ap?s o boom da constru??o de extensos conjuntos habitacionais via SFH/BNH, gradativamente deixou de ser ?rea dependente, e se imp?e como regi?o economicamente participativa, com amplia??o dos setores de com?rcio e presta??o de servi?os, assim como lugar prop?cio para o surgimento de novas atividades. Stemming from the Social Logic of Space theoretical and operational apparatus, the study explores modeling possibilities (with axial lines, segments and lines of continuity) which is then confronted to empirical observations concerning movement flows and land use, within a Geographic Information System database. At different scales of analysis, the results suggest evidences of continuity were found in the permanence of intra-urban centres and sub-centres within each town, whereas evidences of change pointed out to the formation of a new centrality of metropolitan magnitude in the neighbourhood referred to as the Tri?ngulo, in the municipality of Juazeiro, where high levels of topological accessibility coincides with the appearance of new business buildings as well as with the emergence of urban equipment of a scale more adequate to meet a regional demand / Este estudo examina a configura??o espacial definidora da estrutura vi?ria do conjunto formado pelas cidades Crato Juazeiro Barbalha (Crajubar - cerne da Regi?o Metropolitana do Cariri/CE), visando estabelecer nexos (ou rela??es) entre n?veis distintos de acessibilidade e a forma??o/transforma??o e especializa??o de centralidades em escala local e regional. Utilizou-se para tanto o aparato te?rico e operacional da Teoria da L?gica Social do Espa?o, a partir do qual foram exploradas possibilidades de modelagem (com linhas axiais, linhas de continuidade e segmentos) e realizadas observa??es emp?ricas sobre fluxos e usos, ancorando e articulando o conjunto de dados em um Sistema de Informa??es Geogr?ficas - SIG. Ponta Negra has undergone a number of critical social and spatial changes due to tourism development after the 1990s. It is of special interest to consider the intensification of real estate investment after 2000, when the new airport terminal, located in the neighboring municipality of Parnamirim, was in use. Ponta Negra is the place where most tourists go to, so attracting considerable public investments. New agents of transformation have produced change in the neighborhood as well. The present study aims at analysing the spatial processes in this part of the city. Here, the spatial configuration that resulted from extended real estate investments, both public and private, in recent years, is analysed in detail. The study identifies the multually differentiated, however internally homogenous areas. The concepts of production of space, contemporanean urban development and spatial dynamics are discussed. The research is based on document analysis and field work. Results were plotted to maps and tables. A detailed analysis of the spatial processes in the Ponta Negra neighborhood is undertaken as a conclusion, considering the contemporanean global scenario / A presente disserta??o trata da configura??o do espa?o contempor?neo em Natal e os processos espaciais de Ponta Negra. O bairro de Ponta Negra sofreu, com a emerg?ncia do turismo, mudan?as espaciais e sociais a partir da d?cada de 1990, em particular considerando a intensifica??o de investimentos imobili?rios a partir do marco temporal de 2000, devido ao in?cio do funcionamento do novo terminal de passageiros do aeroporto Augusto Severo. Ponta Negra configura-se ent?o como maior ponto de recep??o, de lazer e aloca??o de investimentos p?blicos de Natal. Assim, produzem modifica??es no bairro, novos agentes da produ??o do espa?o. O presente estudo tem por objeto os novos processos espaciais no bairro de Ponta Negra. Aqui, analisar-se a configura??o resultante dos novos investimentos imobili?rios, p?blicos e privados, realizados no bairro nos ?ltimos anos, identificando a exist?ncia de ?reas que, embora homog?neas, s?o diferenciadas entre si.
