Partner abuse: Health consequences to women.

Warren, Ann Marie 12 1900 (has links)
Intimate partner violence is endemic in the United States. According to the American Medical Association (1992), one-fifth to one-third of women will sustain violence from a partner or ex-partner in their lifetime. The relevant literature was organized by ICD-9-CM categories. This study examined the health consequences of partner abuse in a sample of community women using a sample consisting of 564 women in three ethnic groups. Because prior research has failed to account for variations by type of abuse on health consequences, this study assessed psychological abuse, violence and sexual aggression by women's partners. To determine whether or not different types of abuse had an effect on women's health, hierarchical regression analyses were conducted. The regression equations were calculated for women within each ethnic group to facilitate identification of similarities and differences and to control for ethnic differences in risk for specific diseases. The results were consistent with past research on health consequences of abuse and extended the prior literature by showing that psychological abuse had a pervasive effect on health conditions, distress and use of health care resources. Additionally, ethnic differences emerged. As expected, ethnicity appeared to function as a moderator. Clinical implications and recommendations are made for future research, suggesting the development of a new assessment tool for partner abuse screening.

Les obligations conventionnelles nées du divorce / Conventional obligations originating from divorce

Targues, Isabelle 05 July 2017 (has links)
The phenomenon of conventionalisation of family law and more precisely the role assigned to individual will in divorce has been increasing exponentially. As the sources of conventional obligations are multiple, it appears essential to define the variouselements that make up this specific group. Contracts are not the only source of conventional obligations. This last category should include all conventional legal acts which can be defined as expressions of will intending to produce legal effect. In divorce law, the voluntary agreements spouses are allowed to conclude in order tosettle the patrimonial and extra-patrimonial consequences of their separation are numerous. The growing importance given by law to individual will in order to settle the consequences of divorce calls for the examination of the genuine qualification ofspouses’ agreements. The analysis of the conventional obligations originating from divorce demonstrates that common law contracts flourish in divorce law while, at the same time, divorce agreements develop on the fringes of the guiding principles of contract law. Regarding these conventions, judges’ interventions add to individual willso as to reach perfect agreements. Eventually, in a context where individual freedom is promoted, common law contracts are a privileged tool for spouses who wish to organize themselves the patrimonial consequences of their separation. However, matrimonial public order legislation remains and cannot be dissociated from the extra-patrimonial field. In this regard, it should be noted that the general theory of the law of obligations does not intend to endanger the status of persons which must inherently remain inalienable.

Analýza současného stavu detekce ohrožení dětí v rámci rodiny / Analysis of the current state of children's risk detection within family

Sochová, Nikola January 2021 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the skills necessary to detect children being at risk from the adults in their surroundings based on the signals that the children manifest. The specific signs are described in the theoretical part, for example, different child expressions (on psychological, physical or behavioural level etc.) which can accompany risk exposure. The thesis also focuses on analysis of different environments in which these signals can be detected (family, school, medical examination etc.). Risk factors of children being exposed to danger in their own families are also analysed. Knowledge of these factors can facilitate the detection by surrounding people. The empirical part examines the signals most frequently used for the detection of children at risk by the adults in their proximity, as well as signs which don't get much attention (the adults are unable to perceive those signals, or they don't consider them as important). This analysis uses the data from "Children Crisis Center" (Dětské krizové centrum). Quantitative content analysis was used for the data survey. The quantity of signals registered by the family carers was compared to the quantity of signals only discovered by psychological examination. The conclusion reached by this analysis suggests, that family carers are not yet very...

Zhodnocení populační politiky Číny / Evaluation of China's population policy

Jodlová, Adéla January 2020 (has links)
Evaluation of China's population policy Abstract This thesis discusses China's population policy and its aim is to evaluate various programs and analyze their effectiveness. The methodological part describes the base of data and indicators by which the influence of population policy can be measured. The literary review is followed by an analytical part that deals with the development of fertility in the context of population policies, postponing marriage and changing reproductive plans, which are crucial for future policy development. The effectiveness of these programs in China is assessed by comparing the effectiveness of policies in Vietnam and Japan, as well as using selected indicators. An integral part of the thesis is an analysis of the consequences of policies and an outline of possible future development. Based on the results of the analysis, China's population policy has been effective as it has achieved its goal of reducing fertility. On the other hand, the one-child policy has caused many negative consequences, which the new universal two-child policy introduced in 2016 aims to reduce. Key words: population policy, one-child policy, universal two-child policy, reproduction plans, effectiveness of programs, negative consequences

Mäns sexuella våld mot kvinnor : En litteraturstudie som syftar till att identifiera faktorer förknippade med mäns sexuella våld mot kvinnor och sedan beskriva vissa utfall av detta våld hos offren / Men’s sexual violence against women : A literature study that aims to identify factors associated with men’s sexual violence against women and then describing some outcomes of this violence in victims

Larsson, Beatrice January 2021 (has links)
Introduction: Sexual violence is a public health problem that affects women resulting in considerable suffering and poorer health status. Objective: To investigate why men's sexual violence against women occurs and how it affects women's quality of life. Method: Structured literature study using thematic analysis method. Results: Men's sexual violence occurs from social constructs and perceptions, which contributes to men's sexual objectification of women and the normalization of sexual violence. This affects women in the form of poorer mental and physical health, social life and working life. Conclusion: Women's quality of life is impaired by men's sexual violence and men's sexual violence is based on sexual objectification of women and the normalization of sexual violence in society. For future public health work, the work should be based on the context of why a woman has a deteriorating quality of life and in the context of why a man practices violence while at the same time having an understanding that the context can exist at different levels within the ecological model.

Sankce Evropské unie proti Rakousku v roce 2000 v kontextu postavení Rakouska v Evropské unii. Aplikace konstruktivistické teorie na daný případ / EU sanctions against Austria in 2000 in the context of the position of Austria in the European Union. Application of the constructivist theory on the case

diplomové práce v anglickém jazyce: EU sanctions against Austria in 2000 in the context of the position of Austria in the European Union. Application of constructivist theory on the case The Master thesis EU sanctions against Austria in 2000 in the context of the position of Austria in the European Union. Application of constructivist theory on the case tried to analyse the Austrian case from the constructivist perspective. The thesis attempted to verify the hypothesis that the Member States of the European Union wrongly assessed the impact of Haider's FPÖ on the Austrian democratic development and the European Union itself, claiming that the participation of the FPÖ in the Austrian federal government was jeopardizing its democratic values. In fact there was no evidence for this allegation despite the nature of the FPÖ which was confirmed as being far-right in some aspects (for instance its xenophobia). It has been shown that the participation of the FPÖ in the Austrian government (rather than its isolation, which might have led to even bigger support) was in a certain way a guarantee that democracy and the common values of the European Union would be upheld. Furthermore the thesis tried to answer the question whether the inclusion of the FPÖ in the governmental coalition had posed a real danger...

Možnosti řešení domácího násilí z pohledu katolické církve / Alternatives of Home Violence Settling as seen by the Roman Catholic Church

Fraisová, Naděžda January 2012 (has links)
My dissertation Alternatives of Home Violence Settling deals with various alternatives of how the home violence problems can be settled. The introductory chapter goes through the professional interpretation of the home violence term as well as causes, forms and specific signs of this violence type, being followed by description of its consequences and the myths which have gained a foothold in the general public. The home violence is characterized as a long-term, repeated and escalating physical, mental, or sexual cruelty to persons living in the common household; it takes place between close persons, adult family members, or also life partners. The victims, being exposed to long-term violence, lost their self-confidence, however, their fear and confusion increase; they also suffer from a good many various symptoms as depression, shame, decline of general state of health, or increased suicidal behavior. Chapter two focuses on the characterization of the home violence victims and delinquests as well. As to the victims, these can be everybody, irrespective of their education, age, social position or economic situation - women, seniors and handicapped persons as well as men. The home violence occurs between adult partners, spouses, parents and their children, but also between young and aged persons. Chapter...

I skuggan av en manlig diagnos : En kvalitativ studie om kvinnors upplevelser av att leva med ADHD / In the shadow of a male diagnosis : A qualitative study on women's experiences of living with ADHD

Petersson, Emma, Holmberg, Rosita January 2022 (has links)
ADHD is often considered a boy's diagnosis, but girls are as likely as boys to bear the symptoms. This requires knowledge among social workers to prevent girls from being stigmatized and create destructive strategies with social consequences. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyses women´s experiences of living with ADHD and to understand the social consequences and adaptation strategies women use from a life course perspective. This qualitative study is based on autobiographies and blogs to provide answers to the research question. It appears that the women suffer from internalized symptoms that often go unnoticed and are noticed only when women's self-esteem is damaged, as they are no longer able to hold together and destructive strategies such as self-harm, eating disorders and addiction are developed. Like boys from whom the diagnostic template is structured, it also appears that the girls have symptoms such as lack of consistency, impulsivity and difficulty in keeping concentration, however, it appears that girls do not have acting out behavior as boys. The results in this study show that girls often were diagnosed in high age, which is often when they are adult women. It appears that the women experience a redress, belonging and relief once the diagnosis takes place. Not all women in the study have experienced that their difficulties have been noticed, but instead they have been identified as deviant by their surroundings.
