From legislation to implementation? : Understanding the implementation deficiency of the general rules of consideration, the Swedish Environmental Code (2000:61)Lehtimäki, Linda January 2019 (has links)
The Environmental Code is a central environmental policy instrument, which contributes to achieve Sweden’s national environmental objectives. Therefore, the implementation of the rules and regulations of the Environmental Code are of importance. This thesis focuses on the identified research gap in the implementation of the general rules of consideration in the Environmental Code, adopting a Swedish perspective and seeking to understand the reasons why. This thesis intends to increase the understanding of both external and internal aspects affecting the implementation at a municipal level. The results show that the implementation deficiency in the general rules of consideration consists of several complex, interconnected factors. The findings implicate three fundamental aspects affecting the implementation: prerequisites, work procedures and interpretations of the general rules of consideration. Furthermore, the implementation requires an improved understanding among concerned stakeholders. This thesis argues that there is a shortage of knowledge and understanding of the general rules of consideration among stakeholders, therefore there is much more to learn, in order to reduce the implementation deficiency of the rules. Additionally, the findings indicate a need for exemplified guidance from state authorities and government agencies, to reduce the knowledge gap among municipalities and operators. Furthermore, operators ought to increase the understanding of the general rules of consideration, to contribute to the implementation of the general rules of consideration.

Transformational Leadership Skills Needed by Private Basic School Proprietors in GhanaAdu-Gyimah, Moses 01 January 2016 (has links)
Survival of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) is a critical issue for business leaders. The Ghana Statistical Service reported that over 60% of SMEs, including Ghanaian small and medium scale private basic schools, fail during their first 5 years of operation. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore the transformational leadership skills that proprietors of Ghanaian small and medium scale private basic schools have used to enhance employee performance for sustainability beyond 5 years. The conceptual framework for this study was Bass and Avolio's transformational leadership theory. Data collection included semistructured interviews to elicit narratives from 3 proprietors from 3 different Ghanaian private basic schools about what leadership skills they used to enhance employee performance. Data also came from a review of relevant school documents and a reflective journal. The data were analyzed with Yin's 5-step data analysis technique. Data analysis included identification of key themes and triangulation of data from interviews and relevant school documents. The main themes revealed that leaders used idealized influence, inspirational motivation, and intellectual stimulation to enhance employee performance for sustainability of the schools. Findings indicate school leaders can enhance employee performance when they adopt transformational leadership, particularly when leaders articulate a clear vision, encourage teamwork, and involve followers in decision-making. Social implications include helping proprietors of Ghanaian private basic schools enhance employee performance for sustainability beyond 5 years to improve student education, enhance employment, and contribute to improved living standards.

Metoder för att undersöka effekterna av naturvårdshänsynen i skogsbruket efter den nya skogsvårdslagenSvennar, Erica January 2010 (has links)
<p>In 1994 a new Forestry Act was accepted in Sweden. One of its aims was to raise the consideration for preservation of biodiversity. Since this happened over 15 years ago there is now an interest in analyzing if the law has been effective in its purpose. In this study methods suitable for analysis are being investigated. The study contents a pilot study of methods for five parameters that can validate if the law has been followed. The fieldstudy were executed in Orsa, Dalarna, Sweden in a managed forest and where last clearcut was done after 1994. The work consisted of measuring the parameters in the field and to compare them with data from before 1994. The benefits of the parameters and the current and previous Forestry Act and their differences are discussed in the report. The parameters examined were the distribution of tree species, standing dead wood, smaller areas saved for preservation, big trees and trees with cavities/cavernous trees. All of these plus a few other variables favourable for the diversity of species in the forest are dealt with in the 30 § in the Forestry Act of 1994. The study implied that the variables reported to be favourable for biodiversity, and possible to investigate within the restrictions of this study, seemed to have increased. The results should however be interpreted with care since the study is small and the reference values sometimes were missing or covering larger areas than the field data.</p>

Glädjen att möta barn : Berättelsen om den altruistiska pedagogen / The joy of meeting children : The life history of the altruistic educationalistJohnsson, Patrice January 2007 (has links)
During this life-history I met a person who was enthusiastic in her personality. You can see Marianne’s special and unique personality very well because of the method I have chosen. The purpose of writing about this subject is that children spend most of their time awake in school; thus it is important for me, as an educationalist, to discover the ones that are mistreated. This study is about how I can discover children who are not taken care of. The answer I found wasn’t what I expected when I started this study. The answers I got were hidden in her personal story by being an educationalist human being. Her life has been surrounded with love and consideration just like her work. Being genuinely interested in human beings but above all children has created this altruistic pedagogue Marianne. By putting my literature beside Marianne’s story, it was obvious to me that the only way to discover children that get hurt in life is to be an afflated pedagogue.

To participate or not participate in social mediaWallberg, Hanna, Joby, Aina January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to discuss how journalists think about the interaction with the audience in social media and the fact that it can make the traditional audience feel excluded. The study shows how journalists on P4 Kalmar is experiencing audience interaction in social media and describes how aware the journalists are about the digital divide. The results show that all of our interviewed journalists think that the interaction with the audience through social media works well and that there is awareness among journalists about the digital divide. The results also show that many of the interviewed journalists had not reflected on that parts of the audience can feel excluded by the interaction taking place in social media, but some of them could understand if parts of the audience felt that way. We consider our study as part of a research field on journalist’s interactivity with the audience through different types of media, but also as source of inspiration for future research on how the digital media becomes one with the community.

The study of behavior leadership and its effects--The example of air-forceChang, Shui-Chuan 26 August 2002 (has links)
Abstract
The military is the foundation of a nation¡¦s safety. To ensure the safety, prosperity and a continuous development of a country, the commanding officer of each troop in the armed forces should adopt a kind of leadership which can meet the needs of a country and its people thus fulfilling the mission of defending a country and protecting its people.
The writer thoroughly observed and interviewed two commanding officers who were the subjects of this case study. The study is aimed to discuss the leadership behavior of the air-force colonels who are commanding officers. The study discusses the organization structure, the characteristics of missions and the number of people in troops, the difference between the leadership behavior between the commanding officers.
The study tries to find a suitable leadership behavior which can be served as a reference for commanding officers in different troops in the future.
The study has found the following phenomenon:
1. To lead a huge organization which has many people and facilities and units, the most important job is to know how to control. To lead an organization which has less people and it has a professional unit, the most important job is to plan and to know how to communicate to the subordinates.
2. There are many unnecessary meetings in the troops. The meetings are too long. Only a few items need to be discussed are relevant to the units, so it is a waste of time.
3. Due to different units, some commanding officers have too much work, some have less work. Some can not fully use his talents. Responsibility and power do not match.
4. If the unit has less people and resources, the conflict between subordinates are less. If the leader has better skill of eloquence, he can persuade his subordinates and convince them easily.
5. The leadership behavior at this stage in the military is ¡§people-centered¡¨ which produces good effects in leadership. In summary, the leadership behavior of the commanding officer can directly influence the behavior and attitude of his subordinates. The more the commanding officer cares his subordinates, the better meets the psychological needs of his subordinates.
Key Words: Leadership behavior and effectiveness, 4 diagrams of leadership behavior,System and person-oriented, Initiating and consideration structure,Situational factors.

Consumption motives for luxury fashion products : effect of social comparison and vanity of purchase behaviour.White, Samantha Karen January 2015 (has links)
This thesis aims to investigate the relationships between vanity, social comparison and purchase behaviour. Specifically, this thesis defines and develops a conceptual model that expands on these relationships where vanity and social comparison act as antecedents to consumers’ self-esteem and product evaluation which in turn gives rise to purchase behaviour for luxury fashion products. Using this model, the research examines how manipulations of social comparison and vanity are reflected in these relationships and the resulting impact on purchase behaviour. To empirically test this model, an online experiment using a 3x2 between-subjects factorial design was conducted, where respondents were exposed to modified print advertisements for luxury branded sunglasses. A total of 297 responses were collected from a pool of Amazon’s Mechanical Turk workers, which were analysed using multiple regression, factorial ANCOVA and path analysis to assess the hypothesised relationships. The results indicate that vanity appeals were indeed responsible for the way in which the product was evaluated which positively translated into purchase consideration. However, though social comparison was proven to negatively impact on self-esteem, this change in self-esteem was not significant in determining purchase behaviour. Additionally, social anxiety and public self-consciousness were found to be antecedents to the modelled relationships. The theoretical and managerial implications of these findings, along with suggested directions for future research, are discussed.

Considering intentionsÖhman, Niclas January 2010 (has links)
"Good resolutions are useless attempts to interfere with scientific laws. Their origin is pure vanity. Their result is absolutely nil". Oscar Wilde, The picture of Dorian Gray Different types of intentions are some of the most often used variables in marketing and consumer research. The reason is that intentions are believed to predict future behavior. Yet, as the above quote from Oscar Wilde implies, resolutions and intentions are not always translated into action. Intentions and intentionality have been at the centre of discussion for well over a thousand years in philosophy and theology. For solicitors, judges and criminals it is potentially a life and death issue, and within the fields of linguistics and psychology intentions has been given considerable interest. However, in marketing and consumer research, intentions are frequently used but very rarely reflected upon. The thesis comprises six scientific articles based on empirical studies. The articles revolve around a wide definition of intention and show that not all intentions are created equal. They contain empirical evidence and theory on such phenomenon as why so called good intentions are less predictive of subsequent behavior compared to other types of intentions, why resolve and intentions deteriorate over time, and why what a consumer wants to do, plans to do and expects herself to do can be very different things. Wanting, planning and expecting are central components in intention formation and the results in this thesis suggests that researchers and practitioners have much to gain by paying attention to what type of intention they use in their research.
