LA FOTOGRAFIA E I CANTIERI DELLA MILANO POSTUNITARIA 1861-1911MAGISTRELLI, GIACOMO 06 June 2014 (has links)
La tesi considera la varietà di formule espressive e di destinazioni funzionali della fotografia in rapporto alla costruzione di spazi e architetture nella Milano del primo cinquantennio dell’unità d’Italia.
Strumento di lavoro per architetti e ingegneri, la fotografia delle principali operazioni edilizie eseguite nella città lombarda a partire dagli anni sessanta dell’Ottocento rappresenta per la nuova classe dirigente un fondamentale strumento di legittimazione del proprio operato amministrativo e di illustrazione dei progressi compiuti dalla città sulla via della modernizzazione.
Attraverso un itinerario storico della ‘fotografia di cantiere’, costruito anche grazie al confronto con casi italiani e internazionali, lo studio presenta una puntuale analisi del fenomeno in ambito milanese. Tra i progetti affrontati, il piano di riforma del centro cittadino (1865-1878) di Giuseppe Mengoni e i restauri del Castello Sforzesco (1893-1907) di Luca Beltrami, oltre a una serie di interventi minori, documentati da alcuni dei principali fotografi attivi in città e dai redattori della pubblicistica illustrata, tipologia editoriale che tra Otto e Novecento si serve con sempre maggiore consapevolezza del mezzo fotografico. L’evoluzione del linguaggio fotografico viene dunque indagata nel suo contributo alla costruzione di un’iconografia nazionale della modernità, fenomeno che vede la città di Milano porsi in prima fila nel contesto italiano. / The study investigates the variety of expressive formulas and functional destinations of the photography production concerning the architectural renovation occurred in the city of Milan between 1861 and 1911.
Design tool for architects and engineers, construction photography reveals itself as a fundamental tool of political legitimation for the new ruling class and illustrates the progress made by the city in terms of modernization.
Through a historical reconstruction of the genre of construction photography, which also considers Italian and international cases, the study presents a detailed analysis of the Milanese phenomenon. Among the projects, the reform plan of the city center (1865-1878) developed by Giuseppe Mengoni and the restoration of the Sforza Castle (1893-1907) led by Luca Beltrami , as well as a number of minor operations. The inquiry considers the production by some of the main photographers working in the city and the iconographic apparatus of the most important illustrated press of the period, which during the late nineteenth century uses with increasing awareness the narrative qualities of the photographic medium.
The evolution of the photographic language is therefore inquired with regard to his contribution to the construction of a national iconography of modernity , a phenomenon that sees the city of Milan in the front line.

Purpose: Continously growing cities and increasing population sets new demands inthe building industry. Contractors are facing new challenges regarding constructionsite-logistics in densely populated areas where the use of large transports is limited.Many of the actors involved in construction logistics don’t seem to recognize thepotential in early-stage cooperation and sharing of information. Large improvementsare available in the construction logistics which seem to lack structure and goodplanning. Large demands are going to be put on contractor corporations where smartlogisticsolutions can be a deciding factor for competition and thus, important toidentify. Method: In order to supply answer to this thesis question formulation a case study wasperformed at Skanska AB Sverige. The methods used are literature-review, documentanalysisand interviews. The literature-review helped gathering knowledge in the fieldas well as providing a framework in chapter four. The document-analysis where usedto identify the guidelines and tools that Skanska AB Sverige uses today. The interviewstook place at Skanska AB Sverige where employees on influential positions suppliedtheir view on the construction logistics. Findings: The thesis examined four problem areas within construction logistics:material flow issues, internal communication, external communication and complexity.The study showed that the largest problem was material flow issues in citylogisticswhere it was shown that the problems included was uncertainty of time of delivery,transport issues, uncertainty of space requirement and space for waste storage. Theproblems may be solved through thorough planning and inclusion of more actors in theplanning. An increased use of join-distribution may also prove beneficial to the projectsas more space and time is created. Implications: The thesis conclude that information of solutions exist today but that itmust find a way to reach the project in a better way. Problems regarding the externalcommunication with subcontractors was found in the interviews which could beprevented through a better understanding between different actors through inclusion inthe early stage planning and continuous involvement. As a recommendation to furtherresearch we recommend to examine the profitability of joint-distribution and supplychain management. Limitations: The the thesis is limited to construction enterprise where logistics isexamined where it is in direct contact with the construction site. The supply chain ofsubcontractors and their handling of materials is not studied in this report. / Syfte: Ständigt växande stadskärnor och ökad befolkning ställer nya krav påbyggmarknaden. Entreprenörer ställs inför nya utmaningar gällandearbetsplatslogistiken på trånga innerstadprojekt där stora transporter är begränsade.Många inblandade som berörs av logistikfrågor ser inte den stora potentialen isamarbete och utbyte av information. Stora förbättringsmöjligheter finns gällandelogistiken inom byggbranschen vilken saknar struktur och bra planering. Stora kravkommer ställas på entreprenadföretag där smarta logistiklösningar kan vara enavgörande konkurrensfaktor därför är det viktigt att identifiera dessa möjligheter. Metod: För att besvara rapporten frågeställningar utgick examensarbetet från enfallstudie. Metoderna som användes för datainsamling var litteraturstudie,dokumentanalys och intervjuer. Litteraturstudier hjälpte med att införskaffa kunskap iämnet samt gav grund i empirikapitlet. Därefter gjordes dokumentanalys för attidentifiera Skanskas Sverige AB riktlinjer och hjälpmedel som finns idag.Avslutningsvis intervjuades personer på företaget för att se deras syn kringlogistiksituationen. Resultat: Rapporten undersökte fyra problematiska områden inom bygglogistiken:materialflöde, intern och extern kommunikation samt komplexitet. Studien visade attproblem kring materialflöde var största bekymmer utifrån logistiksynpunkt. Inom detområdet fastställdes problematik kring leveransreliabilitet, transportproblem påbyggarbetsplats, osäkerhet om utrymmeskrav och hantering av avfall. Problemen kanlösas genom noggrannare planering och inkludering av flera aktörer i planeringen.Ökning av samlastning tycks också gynna projekten där mer plats och tid skapas.Medarbetarnas okunskap gällande samlastning skapar rädslan för extra kostnaderistället för att se möjligheter. Konsekvenser: Rapportens slutsats är att information kring lösningar som finnstillgängliga i dagsläge måste nå projekten på ett bättre sätt. Problem kring den externakommunikationen med underentreprenörer konstaterades. Bättre förståelse förvarandras arbetssätt kan skapas genom täta avstämningar och bättre involvering. Somförslag till vidare studier kan lönsamhet av samlastning respektive supply chainmanagement för olika typer entreprenader undersökas. Begränsningar: Studien är avgränsad till ett byggentreprenadföretag på husbyggnaddär logistiken undersöks endast i direktkontakt med byggarbetsplats.Underentreprenörernas leveranskedja och hantering av material beaktas inte i dettaarbete.

Purpose: The problem with the construction industry is inefficient material handling that creates waste in form of unnecessary activities that do not increase the value of the product. The construction industry is accused of production delays, exceedance of budget and difficulties in having a high quality. The aim is to find opportunities for improvements to make the material handling on a construction site at deliveries, material storage and material transports more efficient. Method: A qualitative case study of an organisation was carried out to achieve the aim of the report. The methods used in this study was unstructured observations, semi structured interviews and document analysis. Findings: A checklist for material handling based on the theories of Muda, 5S and JIT within Lean has been designed as an improvement and is intended to be used at a construction site. The checklist is based on the collected empirical study and consists of three parts, based on the issues of the study, which were deliveries, material storage and material transport. The purpose of the checklist is to improve the material handling at a construction site by identifying and eliminating wastes in terms of waiting, transport, storage and defects. Implications: By using the checklist, follow the delivery plan, improve the construction site plan and improve the contract between the suppliers and the company that have been concluded from the study result, waste in deliveries, material storage and material transport can be reduced. The recommendation is to follow the suggestions for improvement to make the material handling more efficient and reduce waste on a construction site. Limitations: The limitations that have been made in the study is to identify the wastes in the material handling moments that have been used in the study during the different material handling processes. The communication between workers, in what way the company plans their work activities, work environment and quality of work is not included in the study. / Syfte: Problemet i byggbranschen är ineffektiv materialhantering som skapar slöserier av resurser i form av onödiga aktiviteter som inte ökar värdet på slutprodukten. Byggnadssektorn anklagas för förseningar, budgetöverskridande och svårigheter att hålla en hög kvalitet. Målet är att hitta förbättringsmöjligheter för att effektivisera materialhantering på en byggarbetsplats vid leveransmottagning, materiallagring och materialförflyttning. Metod: För att uppnå studiens mål har en kvalitativ fallstudie av en organisation genomförts. De datainsamlingsmetoder som har använts är strukturerade observationer, semistrukturerade intervjuer och dokumentanalys. Resultat: En checklista för materialhantering baserad på teorierna Muda, 5S och JIT inom Lean har utformats som ett förbättringsförslag och är tänkt att användas på en byggarbetsplats. Rekommendationerna blir att följa förbättringsförslagen för att effektivisera materialhanteringen och reducera slöserier på byggarbetsplatsen. Begränsningar: De avgränsningar som har gjorts i studien är att identifiera de valda slöserier inom Muda som behandlades i studien under olika materialhanteringsmoment. Kommunikationen mellan arbetarna, på vilket sätt företaget jobbar med att planera olika arbetsmoment, arbetsmiljö och arbetskvalitet ingår inte studien.
