"Métodos de pontos interiores aplicados ao pré-despacho de um sistema hidroelétrico usando o princípio de mínimo esforço - comparação com o modelo de fluxo em redes" / Interior point methods applied to the predispatch of a hydroelectric system using the minimum effort principle - comparison with the network flow model

Lilian Milena Ramos Carvalho 07 November 2005 (has links)
In this work, the primal-dual and predictor corrector interior points methods are studied and developed for the predispatch DC problem that minimizes generation and transmission losses on hydroelectric power systems, on the basis of the network flow model and the minimum effort principle. The matrix structure, resulting of the simplification of the problem considered by inclusion of the minimum effort principle, is studied aiming efficient implementations. A disturbed primal-dual method is considered on the basis of a heuristic definition that determine the choice of the disturbance parameter. This method showed to be efficient in practice and converged in fewer iterations when compare with an existing implementation of the network flow model.

Off-axis Holografie im aberrationskorrigierten Transmissionselektronenmikroskop

Linck, Martin 01 July 2010 (has links)
Off-axis electron holography in a transmission electron microscope (TEM) allows reconstructing the complex object exit-wave quantitatively with atomic resolution. Analyzing the phase shift of this wave gives access to the atomic species and enables counting the number of atoms in projection direction as well as determining atom positions. Therefore, a TEM is a very powerful measuring device for quantitative analysis of smallest structures down to the atomic scale beyond simple microscopic imaging. The procedure of the recording of a high-resolution electron hologram, its reconstruction, and after numerical aberration correction finally ending up with the object-exit wave, is quite comprehensive and partially susceptible to artifacts. This work shows how to manage this procedure in order to obtain an interpretable object exit-wave, which is free of artifacts. In instrumentation within the last decade aberration correctors have revolutionized high-resolution electron microscopy. Also off-axis holography can benefit from this electron optical add-on module. Besides the exploration of each improvement, in particular the phase detection limit, this work demonstrates, how to optimize the Cs-corrected TEM in order to get best possible results for quantitative object analysis. Two application examples show experimental results of electron holography with Cs-corrected microscopes. For the investigation of ferroelectric nanolayers, the unique possibilities of the holographic evaluation together with the strongly improved signal resolution turn out to be very useful when determining the ferroelectric polarization. The object wave reconstruction of the grain boundary in a gold film demonstrates further improvements for holography, when additionally using a new electron gun with improved brightness. Single gold atoms become measurable with a signal-noise-ratio of about 10 in amplitude and phase.

Fast on-board integrated chargers for electric vehicles / Chargeur rapide intégré pour véhicule électrique

Sakr, Nadim 27 May 2016 (has links)
To date, the range autonomy of most electric vehicles is still lower than conventional fuel based vehicles and charging times are significantly longer. To overcome this problem, battery capacity could be increased but more importantly high power fast charging should be accessible everywhere. The widespread deployment of public DC fast charging stations is still difficult to achieve. So, in order to have a better spreading of the charge spots and a better coverage, it is also necessary for the vehicle to be charged from an on-board charger that could be plugged into three-phase AC power outlets.Furthermore, because the battery is charged only when the car is parked -except for regeneration at braking-, using the on-board traction system components to form an integrated charging device is possible. This kind of topology is called an integrated charger which allows designing a charger small enough to be embedded in a vehicle at an affordable cost.Several non-isolated on-board integrated charging topologies are proposed in this thesis and the one that best meets some predefined specifications is selected. This topology is studied in details and validated by simulation software. A laboratory prototype is also built to verify the performance of this multi-purpose traction/charger converter.

Modélisation et commande d’une chaine de conversion pour véhicule électrique intégrant la fonction de charge des batteries / Modeling and control of a power converter for electric vehicle integrating battery charging function

Lacroix, Samantha 29 May 2013 (has links)
Environmental constraints and reduction of fossil fuels resources have led industrials and laboratories to search for alternative solutions in the transportation domain. For the last few years, several vehicles or planes functions have been gradually electrified, up to their complete electrification. This thesis presents an AC/DC converter integrated in an Electric Vehicle (EV) for the charger application. The conversion is realized by using the electric traction powertrain, in order to reduce the global cost and increase compactness where a specific motor has been design.During the first phase of the study, a model of the motor used as filtering inductances has been obtained and allowed to highlight an existing magnetic coupling between the motor’s phases. The second step was to define control strategies. Two methods were used. The first one, by a transformation allowed eliminating the majority of the coupling term. In the other method, all coupling elements have been considered. For each strategies, IP and RST controllers based on robust pole placement were designed to ensure system stability. An important part of the work was devoted to the realization of an experimental test bench for AC-DC conversion. A FPGA and a processor were used for control implementation. The control laws has been compared and validated thanks to the experimental platform.

DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS OF ONBOARD TRANSLUNAR INJECTION TARGETING ALGORITHMS

Reed, Phillippe Lyles Winters 01 May 2011 (has links)
Several targeting algorithms are developed and analyzed for possible future use onboard a spacecraft. Each targeter is designed to determine the appropriate propulsive burn for translunar injection to obtain desired orbital parameters upon arrival at the moon. Primary design objectives are to minimize the computational requirements for each algorithm but also to ensure reasonable accuracy, so that the algorithm’s errors do not force the craft to conduct large mid-course corrections. Several levels of accuracy for dynamical models are explored, the convergence range and speed of each algorithm are compared, and the possible benefits of the Broyden and trust-region targeters are evaluated. These targeters provide a proof of concept for the feasibility of a translunar injection targeting algorithm. Anticipating some future improvements, these algorithms could serve as a viable alternative to uploading ground-based targeting solutions and bypass the problems of delays and disruptions in communication, enabling the craft to conduct a translunar injection burn autonomously.

Model Development and Simulation of the Response of Shape Memory Polymers

Ghosh, Pritha 1983- 14 March 2013 (has links)
The aim of this work is to develop and validate a continuum model for the simulation of the thermomechanical response of a shape memory polymer (SMP). Rather than integral type viscoelastic model, the approach here is based on the idea of two inter-penetrating networks, one which is permanent and the other which is transient together with rate equations for the time evolution of the transient network. We find that the activation stress for network breakage and formation of the material controls the gross features of the response of the model, and exhibits a "thermal Bauschinger effect". The model developed here is similar to a thermoviscoelastic model, and is developed with an eye towards ease of numerical solutions to boundary value problems. The primary hypothesis of this model is that the hysteresis of temperature dependent activation-stress plays a lead role in controlling its main response features. Validation of this hypothesis is carried out for the uniaxial response from the experimental data available in the literature for two different SMP samples: shape memory polyurethane and Veriflex, to show the control of the evolution of the temperature sensitive activation stress on the response. We extend the validated 1D model to a three dimensional small strain continuum SMP model and carry out a systematic parameter optimization method for the identification of the activation stress coefficients, with different weights given to different features of the response to match the parameters with experimental data. A comprehensive parametric study is carried out, that varies each of the model material and loading parameters, and observes their effect on design-relevant response characteristics of the model undergoing a thermomechanical cycle. We develop "response charts" for the response characteristics: shape fixity, shape recovery and maximum stress rise during cooling, to give the designer an idea of how the simultaneous variation of two of the most influential material parameters changes a specific response parameter. To exemplify the efficacy of the model in practical applications, a thermoviscoelastic extension of a beam theory model will be developed. This SMP beam theory will account for activation stress governed inelastic response of a SMP beam. An example of a three point bend test is simulated using the beam theory model. The numerical solution is implemented by using an operator split technique that utilizes an elastic predictor and dissipative corrector. This algorithm is validated by using a three-point bending experiment for three different material cases: elastic, plastic and thermoplastic response. Time step convergence and mesh density convergence studies are carried out for the thermoviscoelastic FEM model. We implement and study this model for a SMP beam undergoing three-point bending strain recovery, stress recovery and cyclic thermomechanical loading. Finally we develop a thermodynamically consistent finite continuum model to simulate the thermomechanical response of SMPs. The SMP is modeled as an isotropic viscoplastic material where thermal changes govern the evolution of the activation stress of the material. The response of the SMP in a thermomechanical cycle is modeled as a combination of a rubbery and a glassy element in series. Using these assumptions, we propose a specific form for the Helmholtz potential and the rate of dissipation. We use the technique of upper triangular decomposition for developing the constitutive equations of the finite strain SMP model. The resulting model is implemented in an ODE solver in MATLAB, and solved for a simple shear problem. We study the response of the SMP model for shear deformation as well as cyclic shear deformation at different initial temperatures. Finally, we implement the thermomechanical cycle under shear deformations and study the behavior of the model.
