Snižování pracovních teplot při výrobě a pokládce asfaltových směsí / Reducing the operating temperature of the production and laying of asphalt mixtures

Komenda, Radek January 2013 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is the issue of reduction of the operating temperatures in the production and laying asphalt mixtures with a more specific focus on influencing the functional properties of these mixtures, especially low-temperature parameters. The thesis is notionally divided into two parts. The first part refers to the low-temperature asphalt mixtures and the second part pays the attention to asphalt mixtures with an added R-material. For production of asphalt mixtures in the first part of thesis were used five additives and for the second part were used a total of four different asphalt mixtures which differs in the participation of added R-material. Both parts are divided into a theoretical part, which discusses the existing experience, the use of these mixtures and the practical part, which analyses in detail the tested mixture ( the composition and preparation of tested specimens ) and deals with the result of laboratory test. In particular, it is a test of asphalt mixture resistance against the formation of frost cracks according to ČSN EN 12697-46 and by comparing the individual mixtures in comparison with the reference sample and among each other.

Proudění ve spárách / FLow in cracs

Ocásek, Adam January 2013 (has links)
This Master’s thesis investigates the flow in sealing gaps of impeller within pumps and turbines. Sealing gaps are installed to improve the volumetric efficiency in this type of fluid machinery. Despite present extensive research this subject has not been entirely documented and the thesis’ aim is to improve our knowledge in this matter. At the beginning, the practical experiment is used in order to establish appropriate numerical description of flow in seals and to calibrate software FLUENT. In chapter five, the thesis analyses the influence of seal design on volumetric efficiency of pumps and turbines and defines its optimal construction to improve the efficiency. The thesis then examines the effect of rotor eccentricity on flow properties, flow rate and pressure distribution within the sealing gap. In the last section, through chapters six to eight, the flow results provided by numerical solution in FLUENT and selected analytical equations, or their modified forms, are being discussed. The degree of correspondence between the results is also studied.

Medientransport durch Verstärkungsschichten aus textilbewehrtem Beton

Lieboldt, Matthias, Mechtcherine, Viktor 03 June 2009 (has links)

Shear cracks in reinforced concrete in serviceability limit state / Skjuvsprickor i armerad betong i bruksgränstillstånd

Chemlali, Alexander, Norberg, Rickard January 2015 (has links)
Shear cracks are formed when high oblique tensile stresses, e.g. in thin webs, exceed the tensile strength. A known example of this phenomenon is the extensive shear cracks that were found on the box-girder bridges Gröndal and Alvik, which were mainly caused by insufficient amount of shear reinforcement. In order to avoid this incident (inadequate amount of shear reinforcement), the reinforcement stress is often being assumed as a ultimate limit load in order to fulfill requirements regarding crack control in the service-ability limit state (SLS). This method has led to a overestimation of the reinforcement amount in bridge-design. The aim of this master thesis is therefor to study the shear crack phenomenon and investigate if the amount of shear reinforcement in bridges can be reduced. The first part of this thesis studies the shear cracking behavior in concrete in a plane stress state, while the second part focus how design standards as well as manuals treats shear cracks. Shear cracking in the reinforced concrete panels has been studied with non-linear finite element analysis and compared to experimental testings performed by the University of Toronto. Three different loading conditions for the panels has been analyzed: pureshear, compression or tension combined with shear. The panels are to represent parts of a web in a box-girder bridge that are subjected to in-plane stresses. The non-linear finite element analysis was performed in the FE-program Atena where mainly the crack propagation and crack pattern were studied. The material model in Atena is a smeared crack model with either fixed or rotated crack direction. The panel analysis, in SLS, gave various results. For loading conditions pure shear and tension/shear, the response of the FE-analysis gave a similar result regarding crack pattern but differed in size of crack width. For compression/shear, only micro-cracks developed and did not reflect the result from the real panel tests. This may be the consequence of a too stiff FE-model and the fact that, in the real tests, some cracks occurred due to out-of-plane bending. With methods described in Eurocode 2 and the Swedish handbook for EC2, a shear crack calculation model was created in order to determine the reinforcement stress and crack width. As a reference for the shear crack calculations, a wing structure (1 m strip) has been used which is part of a railway bridge located in Abisko. These calculations were done in order to investigate if the amount of shear reinforcement could be reduced and at the same time fulfill crack control demands in SLS. The bridge department at Tyréns AB concluded, according to a truss model, that the wing section should be reinforced with a amount of 14.1 cm2/m2 while our model showed that the crack width demand could be fulfilled with a equivalent amount of 9.82 cm2/m2, i.e. a reduction around 30%.

Björnberg, Maja, Johansson, Victor January 2013 (has links)
After the introduction of the Eurocodes, the minimum amount of reinforcement for crack control in concrete structures has increased. This is due to differences in themethods for calculating the minimum amount of reinforcement used in the Eurocodes and in BKR, a standard which was used in Sweden before the Eurocodes. Minimum reinforcement for crack control is used in concrete structures to redistribute the tensile stresses caused by restraint during the shrinkage. This thesis examines if the amount of minimum reinforcement can be reduced without compromising the main functions of the reinforcement. In this thesis a number of methods for calculating the minimum reinforcement has been compared to see how large the differences in the amount of reinforcement are, why they occur and what are the advantages and disadvantages of the different methods. The different methods revised in this thesis are the method in Eurocode 2, the changes made in the German National Annex to the Eurocode 2 method and a method proposed by Hallgren in a preliminary work.   The results are based on simulations performed in the FEM-application Atena where different scenarios were examined. In the investigated scenarios, the strength classes of the concrete, the cross-sectional dimensions, the size of the reinforcement bars, the size of the concrete cover and the bond strength has been varied. The amount of reinforcement in each case has been varied to correspond to the required minimum amount according to the different methods for calculating minimum reinforcement. In all investigated cases, the cross section is assumed to be exposed to pure tensile load, which is the case for shrinkage. The results of the simulations showed that a larger amount of reinforcement reduces the width of the cracks, that a larger amount of small cracks are formed, and that new cracks are formed earlier at a lower shrinkage value. The differences are however in most cases small compared to when a lower amount of reinforcement is used. In other words, a lower amount of reinforcement could be used without compromising the main functions of the minimum reinforcement. The results from the simulations have also been used to obtain an alternative method for calculating the minimum reinforcement that gives a lower amount of reinforcement without compromising the main functions. The proposed change in Eurocode is a modification in the value of the coefficient k. By changing the value of the coefficient k, the amount of required minimum reinforcement is decreased significantly, especially for large crosssection heights. More numerical simulations were performed to ensure that the reinforcement amount according to the proposed change works for all scenarios considered in this thesis. The results showed that the reinforcement were capable of redistributing the tensile stresses caused by restraint. Only a small increase in the crack widths could be observed.   An investigation was conducted to find an explanation to why cracks occur during the first weeks after casting of the concrete. The results show that the problem with cracks occurring during this period is neither due to the autogenous shrinkage nor the drying shrinkage. Only a small share of those types of shrinkage are achieved during the first weeks, and at the same time the concrete strength growth is relatively fast. Instead, the problems with cracks seem to be caused by other factors, such as a large heat development in the concrete during the first day, uneven drying shrinkage or an uneven temperature distribution over the cross section in combination with restraint. Cracks can develop during the first days after casting of the concrete due to the shrinkage that occur when the concrete cools off after the large heat development the first day. These cracks remain when the drying shrinkage continues. A comparison was also made between hand calculations of the characteristic crack widths according to “Betongföreningens handbok till Eurokod 2” and the crack widths read out of the results from the numerical simulations. The results showed that the method generally works well, but some minor adjustments could be made to adapt the method to smaller values of concrete shrinkage.

Diagnostika dálničního mostu / Highway bridge diagnostics

Křepelka, Jan January 2022 (has links)
This thesis deals with the inspection and construction-technical survey of the highway bridges D2-058..1 and D2-058..2. These structures ale located on the border with the Slovak Republic and were built in 1980. The thesis is focused on the substructure of this long overpass, because of its major failures caused by leaking water. Theoretical part contains information about construction-technical surveys of the bridges, bridges inspections and theory of ultrasound methods. That method has been used in the practical part for identification of the damage extent. Also, material property have been verified and overall condition of the substructure has been evaluated.
