Les trois chapitres, relativement indépendants, de la thèse étudient des variétés pseudo-riemanniennes (variétés munies d'une métrique non-dégénérée mais non définie) dont l'holonomie restreinte est indécomposable mais stabilise des sous-espaces totalement isotropes. Chapitre 1. Une variété riemanienne de courbure de Ricci parallèle est localement (globalement si elle est complète et simplement connexe) un produit de variétés d'Einstein. Cela résulte de la positivité de la métrique et n'est plus vrai dans le cas pseudo-riemannien. Cependant, en utilisant les propriétés classiques de l'holonomie ainsi qu'un travail de Klingenberg de 1954 sur les paires de formes bilinéaires symétriques le chapitre 1 montre un résultat proche : décomposition en produit de variétés d'Einstein et de deux autres types, <> et < pour les paires de formes réflexives, voir pp.96-100 de la thèse. Chapitre 3. Le plus significatif, il construit, sur une certaine classe de variétés pseudo-riemanniennes réductibles, indécomposables sous l'action de leur holonomie restreinte, des coordonnées privilégiées, <> en un sens qu'il précise (th. 1 p. 167). Ces coordonnées sont un outil pour une première compréhension de la géométrie locale, complexe, de ces variétés. Elles permettent en particulier de paramétrer l'espace des germes de métriques lorentziennes correspondant à chacun des quatre types d'holonomie lorentzienne possibles donnés par A. Ikemakhen et L. Bérard Bergery. (voir pp. 204--205 et 211).

Dans cette thèse, j'ai étudié le noyau et le semi-groupe de la chaleur ainsi que les inégalités fonctionnelles associées sur trois espaces modèles de la géométrie sous-elliptique. Cette étude a en fait pour principal objectif de développer et tester de nouvelles techniques et méthodes que l'on espère ensuite pouvoir étendre en géométrie sous-elliptique. Le but avoué est de comprendre en géométrie sous-elliptique une notion de courbure de Ricci minorée par une constante. Ici, les trois espaces modèles sont des groupes de Lie de dimension 3: le groupe de Heisenberg, le groupe SU(2) et le groupe SL(2,R), que l'on munit d'un sous-laplacien: un opérateur différentiel du second ordre invariant à gauche essentiellement auto-adjoint pour la mesure de Haar du groupe qui n'est pas elliptique mais hypoelliptique d'après des résultats de Hörmander. Mes résultats portent tout d'abord sur l'obtention de formules explicites pour les noyaux de la chaleur associés. J'ai ensuite introduit un critère de courbure-dimension de Bakry-Emery généralisé qui, sous certaines conditions d'antisymétrie vérifiées sur nos espaces modèles, permet l'obtention d'estimées du type de Li-Yau. Je me suis enfin intéressé à l'établissement et l'étude d'inégalités de sous-commutation entre le gradient et le semi-groupe de la chaleur. J'ai notamment donné deux nouvelles démonstrations de l'inégalité de H.Q.Li sur le groupe de Heisenberg.

La ricerca ha come oggetto l'analisi e la traduzione in italiano del Trattato Xiguo jifa (la Mnemotecnica occidentale) di Matteo Ricci S.J.. Prendiamo le mosse da una verifica del ruolo svolto dalla mnemotecnica nel sistema educativo gesuitico per passare all'esame della ricca attività di Matteo Ricci nel campo della terminologia, in particolare per quanto riguarda le creazioni neologiche volte a trasmettere conoscenze occidentali in lingua cinese. La verifica del processo di memorizzazione così come viene spiegato nel trattato permette di identificare una serie di termini chiave afferenti all'ambito della mnemotecnica o a quello strettamente legato della filosofia e della religione per arrivare a determinare le modalità con cui il missionario rende, nel trattato, i termini occidentali. / The research concentrates on the analysis and translation in Italian language of the Treatise on the techniques of memorization. The Treatise was written in Chinese language by Matteo Ricci, a Jesuit missionary at the end of the sixteenth century. At first we take into account the role of mnemonics in the Jesuit educational system; we than take into consideration the important terminological activity carried out by Ricci during his life in China. We observe the main contributes of Ricci to the invention of neologisms in Chinese language, in order to transmit Western knowledge to Chinese literati. We then analyse the Treatise on the basis of other linguists' previous studies and we identify key concepts to be analysed in order to describe the main terminological activity used in the Treatise.

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem westlichen Verständnis von chinesischer Schrift. Im westlichen Diskurs herrscht eine Auffassung vor, der zufolge die chinesischen Schriftzeichen eine „fast naturalistische Darstellung“ von Dingen seien, die unabhängig von der gesprochenen Sprache im Sinne „eines visuellen Objekts“ funktionieren soll. Dabei wird die Tatsache, dass auch sie wie alle anderen Schriftsysteme zur Wiedergabe der gesprochenen Wörter verwendet werden und dadurch funktionieren, ausgeblendet. Die Vorstellung der sprachunabhängigen chinesischen Schrift wirkt darüber hinaus auch auf die Kulturtheorien ein, die auf der Schrift basierend die chinesische bzw. asiatische Kultur zu charakterisieren und sie mit der europäischen zu vergleichen versuchen. Dabei ist zu beobachten, dass die angenommene sprachunabhängige Bildhaftigkeit oder Konkretheit der chinesischen Schrift zwar einerseits Grund für eine Aufwertung ist, wobei das aus ihr resultierende Denkmodell als ein alternatives des westlichen Denkens aufgefasst wird, dass aber letztendlich aus derselben Auffassung auch das negative Urteil entspringt, mit jener visuellen Konkretheit gehe ein ‚geringer Abstand zu den Gegenständen‘ einher und daraus folge eine Unfähigkeit zum abstrakten Denken bei dem, der sich dieser Schrift bediene. Die Frage, die vorliegende Arbeit durchzieht, lautet daher: Woher stammt dieser ‚Mythos‘ der chinesischen Schrift, der wiederum zurückwirkt auf das westliche Ostasienbild? Und warum bewahrt er sich so hartnäckig im westlichen Denken, dass seine Nachwirkung bis in aktuelle Theorien zu beobachten ist? Wie ist die ambivalente Einschätzung chinesischer bzw. ostasiatischer Kultur in ihnen zu verstehen, die aus derselben ideographischen Auffassung chinesischer Schrift stammt? Durch eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit der Rezeptionsgeschichte der chinesischen Schrift unter Berücksichtigung des abendländischen China-, bzw. Ostasienbilds wird versucht, darauf zu antworten. / This dissertation deals with the Western views of Chinese characters. In Western discourses the Chinese written language has generally been viewed as a naturalistic representation of things, close to visual images (pictographs) or as a means of conveying ideas (ideographs), unrelated to spoken language. The fact that they reproduce spoken language like all other writing systems has been underexplored. Under this assumption, cultural theories have defined Chinese or Asian cultures as essentially distinct from European cultures. However, the language-independency and concreteness of Chinese script provides reason for revaluation of those views that consider the Chinese (or Asian) ways of thinking as an alternative to Western thought: that which ultimately arises from the negative judgments that those with visual concreteness are farther detached from objects, and are, therefore, unable to exercise abstract thinking. Through a critical analysis of the history of discourses of Chinese writings, this work address the following questions: Whence comes the ‘myth ''of the Chinese character, which, in turn, reinforces the Western views of Asia: why it remains so persistent in Western views as observed in contemporary cultural theories; how the ambivalent appreciation of Chinese or East Asian-culture resulted from the same ideographic view of the Chinese written language.

Jesus' story has been retold in various forms and fashions for centuries. Jesus novels, a subset of the historical fiction genre, are one of the latest means of not only re-imagining the man from Galilee but also of rewriting the canonical Gospels. This thesis explores the Christological portraits constructed in four of those novels while also using the novels to examine the intertextual play of these Gospel rewrites with their Gospel progenitors. Chapter 1 offers a prolegomenon to the act of fictionalizing Jesus that discusses the relationship between the person and his portraits and the hermeneutical circle created by these texts as they both rewrite the Gospels and stimulate a rereading of them. It also establishes the "preposterous" methodology that will be used when reexamining the Gospels "post" reading the novels. Chapters 2 to 5 offer four case studies of "complementing" and "competing" novels and the techniques they use to achieve these aims: Anne Rice's Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt; Neil Boyd's The Hidden Years; Nino Ricci's Testament; and José Saramago's The Gospel according to Jesus Christ. Chapter 6 begins an examination of a specific interpretive circle based upon Jesus' temptation in the wilderness. Beginning with the synoptic accounts of that event, the chapter then turns to how Jesus' testing has been reinterpreted and presented in two of the novels. Returning to the Gospel of Matthew's version of the Temptation, chapter 7 offers a "preposterous" examination of that pericope, which asks novel questions of the text and its role with Matthew's narrative context based on issues raised by the Gospel rewrites. The thesis concludes by suggesting that Jesus novels, already important examples of the reception history of the Gospels, can also play a helpful role in re-interpreting the Gospels themselves.

Le but de cette thèse est triple : INÉGALITÉS DE SOBOLEV AVEC DES CONSTANTES EXPLICITES SUR DES VARIÉTÉS RIEMANNIENNES À DENSITÉ ET À BORD CONVEXE : On obtient des inégalités de Sobolev à densité, avec des constantes géométriques explicites pour des variétés à courbure de m-Bakry-Émery Ricci minorée par une constante positive et à bord convexe. Ceci permet de généraliser de nombreux résultats connus dans le cas riemannien aux variétés avec densité. Nous montrons aussi comment déduire des inégalités de Sobolev obtenues, un résultat d’isolement pour les applications f -harmoniques. Nous présenterons également une nouvelle et très simple méthode pour la preuve de l’inégalité de Moser-Trudinger-Onofri [Onofri, 1982] dans le cas du disque euclidien. / The purpose of this thesis is threefold: SOBOLEV INEQUALITIES WITH EXPLICIT CONSTANTS ON A WEIGHTED RIEMANNIAN MANIFOLD OF CONVEX BOUNDARY: We obtain weighted Sobolev inequalities with explicit geometric constants for weighted Riemannian manifolds of positive m-Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature and convex boundary. As a first application, we generalize several results of Riemannian manifolds to the weighted setting. Another application is a new isolation result for the f -harmonic maps. We also give a new and elemantry proof of the well-known Moser-Trudinger-Onofri [Onofri, 1982] inequality for the Euclidean disk.
