Analysis of vibro-acoustic comfort for engine with deactivated cylinders / Analyse du confort vibro-acoustique pour un moteur à désactivation de cylindres

Afin de réduire les consommations de carburant et les émissions de CO2, des technologies comme la désactivation de cylindres ont été développées. Deux stratégies ont été à l’étude chez le Groupe PSA, il s’agit de désactivations appelées fixe ou tournante en fonction du nombre de cylindres désactivés au cours d’un cycle moteur. Des modifications importantes du bruit et des vibrations transmises dans l’habitacle de la voiture en sont les conséquences ce qui modifie nettement la perception du confort par le conducteur de la voiture. Ce travail de recherche s’intéresse aux modifications de confort perçu par le conducteur dues à ces différentes stratégies appliquées au moteur ainsi qu’aux solutions potentielles qui permettraient d’améliorer ce confort. Parmi ces solutions se trouve le principe de sonification en temps réel du bruit moteur. Pour répondre à ces questions, cinq tests perceptifs sont réalisés. Les deux premiers consistent en l’évaluation du confort global dans différentes configurations ainsi qu’à la validation de l’utilisation d’un simulateur vibro-acoustique. Ces expériences ont montré qu’une des stratégies de désactivation était jugée significativement plus inconfortable que les autres. Par la suite, une seule des stratégies sera retenue. La troisième expérience permet de déterminer un seuil d’acceptabilité entre les sollicitations du moteur avec désactivation et celles du moteur habituel. Ceci afin de fixer une cible pour laquelle l’environnement vibro-acoustique serait acceptable. Dans les deux dernières expériences, deux solutions permettant d’atteindre cette cible sont simulées. La première consiste à modifier la plage de régime moteur ou à lieu la désactivation, la deuxième consiste à assouplir les suspensions horizontales afin de limiter les résonances vibratoires à faible régime. / The technology of cylinder of deactivation has been developed in order to reduce gas consumption and CO2 emissions. Two strategies were studied at groupe PSA called fixed and rotating deactivations depending on the number of cylinders deactivated per engine cycle. This implies non neglecting modifications of sound and vibrations transmitted to the car cabin depredating the global comfort of the car. This research work focused on how driver’s comfort was altered by these engine configurations and how it would be possible to improve this comfort. Among the solutions possible, appears the principle of real-time sonification of the engine noise. To answer these questions, five perceptual experiments have been conducted. First, the aim was to evaluate global comfort with different engine configurations and validate the use of a vibro-acoustic simulator. This showed that one deactivation strategy was significantly reducing the comfort evaluation. Then, we focused on the second strategy which was also considered as not comfortable. On the third experiment, we were interested in finding an acceptable threshold between the vibrations and sounds with the deactivation and with the usual engine configuration. This led to a target of signal to reach in order to provide acceptable situations in terms of sound and vibrations. In the last two experiments, we were interested in the simulation of two solutions about the deactivation settings that would reduce the annoyance: the modification of the engine speed range in which the deactivation occurs and the softening of horizontal suspensions part in order to reduce vibrations resonances at low engine speed.

Afin de satisfaire la demande croissante des systèmes de traitement de l'air, des procédés commerciaux basés sur la photocatalyse par TiO2 ont été commercialisés. Récemment le problème de la désactivation de ces systèmes a attiré l'attention des industriels ainsi que des chercheurs. Les Siloxanes Méthyliques Volatils (SMVs) présents dans l'air auraient été identifiés comme une source majeure contribuant à cette désactivation. Par ailleurs, dans les centres de stockage des déchets, la valorisation du biogaz nécessite de recueillir et de traiter le biogaz issu des déchets organiques en vue de produire de l'énergie renouvelable et inoffensive pour l'environnement. A nouveau, les SMVs ont été identifiés comme un frein principal au développement de cette filière, ces derniers conduisant après oxydation à des dépôts de silice abrasifs dans le moteur. Les difficultés de mesure des SMVs aussi bien dans le biogaz que dans l'air ambiant ainsi que l'évaluation de leur impact sur les systèmes photocatalytiques ou dans les procédés de valorisation du biogaz constituent par conséquent un vrai défi. Afin de répondre à ces problématiques, ce travail comporte trois volets principaux : Le premier volet est dédié à la mise au point d'une méthode de mesure des siloxanes méthyliques volatils dans le biogaz et dans l'air ambiant. Pour ce faire nous avons choisi de mettre en place un système d'échantillonnage des SMVs basé sur leur piégeage et préconcentration sur un support solide suivi d'une désorption thermique ou chimique (extraction par solvant) avant leur analyse par GC-MS. Puisqu'aucune étude systématique sur le choix des supports n'est relatée dans la littérature, nous avons comparé plusieurs types d'adsorbants en déterminant le volume de perçage pour chacun des SMVs afin de choisir le (les) meilleur(s). Le second volet est consacré à l'évaluation des teneurs en SMVs dans le biogaz ainsi que dans l'air ambiant en différents endroits. Une méthode d'analyse des SMVs fiable a été développée qui a permis de confirmer les résultats précédents obtenus au laboratoire en ce qui concerne le choix des adsorbants pouvant piéger quantitativement les SMVs. Enfin, dans le troisième volet, l'impact des SMVs sur les systèmes photocatalytiques en choisissant comme molécule modèle l'octaméthylcyclotétrasiloxane (D4) a été étudié / In order to address the growing demand for indoor air treatment, many commercial systems based in the potocatalytic degradation using TiO2 have reached the market. Recently, deactivation of these systems has been observed. Some of the potentially most important deactivation pollutants are volatile methyl siloxanes (VMS), which are becoming more and more abundant indoor and in ambient air. Moreover, the increasing interest in the utilization of biogas to generate renewable energy (production of heat or electricity), has created significant concerns about the presence of VMS in the biogas. During biogas combustion, VMS are oxidized to abrasive microcrystalline silica that causes serious damage to gas engines, thus reducing the economic benefits of using biogas. Hence, it is essential to be able to measure the concentration of such VMS in ambient air and in biogas by a reliable method, as well as to study their impact on the photocatalytic systems. To address these issues, this work has three main parts: The first part is dedicated to the development of a method for measuring volatile methyl siloxanes in biogas and in ambient air. We have chosen sampling gas through sorbent tube followed by thermal desorption or chemical desorption (solvent extraction) and analysed using GC-MS. Since no systematic study on the choice of materials is related in the literature, we compared several types of adsorbents based on the determination of the VMS breakthrough volume (BV), in order to choose an appropriate adsorbent and to obtain accurate quantification of VMS. The second part is devoted to the evaluation of VMS in biogas and in ambient air at different sites. A reliable analytical method has been developed, and results are in agreement with the previous results obtained in the laboratory regarding the choice of adsorbents. Finally, in the third part, for a better understanding of the impact of VMS on photocatalytic systems, D4 was chosen as a VMS model compound as it is one of the most important VMS

New micro and mesoporous materials for the reaction of methanol to olefins

(1) We will show that nano sized samples of SAPO-34 synthesized by microwave heating presents much higher lifetime than standard-SAPO-34 synthesized by conventional hydrothermal method for the reaction of methanol to olefins. (2) We will stabilize the Nano SAPO-34 in the ways such as steaming with water or calcinated in H2 condition. (3) The treatment of mix alkali treatment with proper TPAOH/NaOH could make composites with mesopore and microporous structure in the zeolite ZSM-5 to reduce strong acid quantity and the change the selectivity of the main product. In this diploma work changes of initial and total activities and content of Rubisco in beech and Norway spruce were studied. The plants were cultivated in conditions with ambient CO2 concentration (350 mol·mol–1) and elevated CO2 concentration (700 mol·mol–1). Three series of samples (at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of growing season) were taken. Initial and total Rubisco activities were measured spectrophotometrically and activation state was calculated. Rubisco content was determined by SDS–PAGE method. Rubisco activity in beech cultivated in elevated CO2 concentration decreased during the whole growing season while in beech growing in ambient CO2 concentration Rubisco activity decreased up to middle of growing season and then increased. Rubisco content in beech in ambient CO2 concentration slightly increased and in beech in elevated CO2 concentration decreased up to middle of growing season and then increased. Rubisco activities in Norway spruce both in ambient and elevated CO2 concentration decreased. Rubisco content in Norway spruce in ambient CO2 concentration decreased but in Norway spruce in elevated CO2 concentration first decreased and then increased.

Dissociating sub-processes of aftereffects of completed intentions and costs to the ongoing task in prospective memory: A mouse-tracking approach

In the present study, we used mouse tracking to investigate two processes underlying prospective memory (PM) retrieval: First, we aimed to explore to what extent spontaneous retrieval of already completed PM intentions is supported by reflexive-associative and discrepancy-plus-search processes. Second, we aimed to disentangle whether costs to an ongoing task during the pursuit of a PM intention are associated with presumably resource-demanding monitoring processes or with a presumably resource-sparing strategic delay of ongoing-task responses. Our third aim was to explore the interaction of processes underlying costs to the ongoing task and processes of spontaneous retrieval. Our analyses replicated response-time patterns from previous studies indicating aftereffects of completed intentions and costs to ongoing-task performance, as well as increased aftereffects while pursuing a PM intention. Notably, based on our mouse-tracking analyses, we argue that aftereffects of completed intentions are best explained by a reflexive initiation of an already completed intention. If the completed intention is not performed in its entirety (i.e., no commission error), the reflexive initiation of the completed intention is followed by a subsequent movement correction that most likely represents a time-consuming response-verification process. Regarding performance costs in the ongoing task, our analyses suggest that actively pursuing a PM intention most likely leads to a strategic delay of ongoing activities. Lastly, we found that pursuing a novel PM task after intention completion exacerbated orienting responses to all deviant stimuli, exacerbated the readiness to initiate the completed intention reflexively, and substantially prolonged the response-verification process following this reflexive intention retrieval.

7 ABSTRACT Crystallization of the zebrafish P2X4 receptor in both open and closed states revealed conformational differences in the ectodomain structures, including the dorsal fin and left flipper domains. The role of these domains in forming of ATP-binding pocket and receptor function was investigated by using alanine scanning mutagenesis of the R203- L214 (dorsal fin) and the D280-N293 (left flipper) sequences of the rat P2X4 receptor and by examination of the responsiveness to ATP and orthosteric analog agonists 2- (methylthio)adenosine 5'-triphosphate, adenosine 5'-(γ-thio)triphosphate, 2'(3'-O-(4- benzoylbenzoyl)adenosine 5'-triphosphate, and α,β-methyleneadenosine 5'- triphosphate. ATP potency/efficacy was reduced in 15 out of 26 alanine mutants. The R203A, N204A, and N293A mutants were essentially non-functional, but receptor function was restored by ivermectin, an allosteric modulator. The I205A, T210A, L214A, P290A, G291A, and Y292A mutants exhibited significant changes in the responsiveness to orthosteric analog agonists. In contrast, the responsiveness of L206A, N208A, D280A, T281A, R282A, and H286A mutants to analog agonists was comparable to that of the wild type receptor. Comportamiento de los catalizadores de Pt-Rh y de los sistemas recuperadores utilizados en plantas de ácido nítrico

There are three major problems affecting efficiency in the catalytic oxidation of ammonia for obtaining nitric acid in an industrial plant: the limited life of gauzes, the low efficiency of the catalyst after a few months of operation, and finally, the necessity of recovering as much quantity of precious metals as possible. The first point to study in order to control the process and extend the useful life of the catalyst should be the correct characterization of the deactivated system. Therefore, this research is a systematic study about the performance of the catalytic recovering systems in nitric acid plants for all industrial pressures. In addition, it intends to cover the need of updating the knowledge in this field. The results obtained in this study with the support of SEM, EDX, XPS and AAS techniques, allow us to reach the following conclusions: The extremely critical conditions in which the activation pretreatment takes place cause important structural variations in the material surface. Beyond that, significant PtO2 losses and subsequent enrichment in RhO2 occur in a campaign in a high pressure plant, and mean while a continuous surface reconstruction is taking place. In contrast, an enrichment in Rh0 occurs in a lower pressure plant. In all situations, the deactivation is associated to a decrease in the Platinum content, more active than Rhodium. The getter mechanism in the recovering gauzes is directional and consists in the absorption of PtO2 (or Pt0) on the surface of the Palladium-based wires. Next, the PtO2 reduces itself to Pt0 and forms the Pt-Pd alloy. The part of volatile Platinum and Palladium oxides which gest through the recovering pack, as well as the particles of Rh2O3 carried away mechanically, settle in the heat exchangers line and in the Platinum filter of the high pressure plant. The most part of impurities are associated to Fe, Ni, Cr, Cu and Mn,probably forming oxides. Finally, from the comparative analysis made between the diversity of plants studied, we can conclude that their different operating conditions have an extremely important influence in the performance of the catalytic and recovering systems used.
