Medarbetarens perspektiv på arbetsstationernas förändring : En kvalitativ studie om medarbetarnas upplevelser kring förändringen av arbetsstationen / Employee’s perspective on the change of workstations : A qualitative study on employees' experiences regarding the change of the workstation

Andersson, Ludvig, Kolm, Jens January 2021 (has links)
Background: In current situations with Covid-19, companies have been forced to undergo a digitization of their operations. This has meant that the employees' workstations have undergone a change from previously working in offices with their colleagues around them and with comfortable office chairs to now working remotely. How has this affected the employees and how do they experience the change? Purpose: The purpose of the study is to create a deeper understanding of how workstations have changed and what impact it has had employees' experiences.Method: The study is based on a qualitative method and used semi-structured interviews to obtain the employees' experiences. Ten interviews were conducted with two different companies to create a larger sample of respondents. Analysis: The employees feels that there is a material lack compared to before the change. Where previously in the offices had access to everything that was relevant and current to perform the work. The employees therefore experience a lack of tangible assets in the home office. The employees feel that the new work situation requires more of the individual, which has led to the employee experiencing more commitment to the work, the tasks are perceived as more meaningful, more responsibility has resulted in higher trust from companies, which has resulted in the employee taking more initiative and experiencing more fun working. The employees also experience a positivity to the more flexible way of working and positivity to the reduced distance to the office. On the other hand, the employee experiences a lack of social contact that previously existed in the employment office. Conclusion: The conclusion is that the impact of digital change on the workstation and the employee has had a positive impact, where the individual and the employee have benefited rather than been disadvantaged by the change.

Svanström, Victoria January 2022 (has links)
The development of digitization has resulted in people communicating more digitally. People keep in touch with friends and family on the respective platforms, but we arealso looking for new contacts and relationships online nowadays. Studies have shownthat it was in the 90’s that the phenomenon of online dating started and since then avariety of online dating sites have developed. Today, Tinder is the most used onlinedating site in Sweden. The purpose of the use of online dating sites differs and so doesthe presentation of the people on each online dating profile. The purpose of this essay isto investigate how people choose to present themselves on an online dating site, whatthey think about other people ́s presentations and how they act in the interaction withother people that they meet through an online dating site. The method used for this essay is a quantitative survey that has been distributed on various platforms online. The target group is women and men aged 15–50 who aresingle and active / have been active on some form of online dating site. The survey was answered by 120 respondents. The results of the survey shown a majority looking for a furture partner on each onlinedating site where the personality of a partner is prioritized before appearance. The respondents want to be portrayed as a possible partner, and as a funny and nice person on the online dating site rather than just showing off the super finical qualities ofthemselves. Despite the aspects that appearance is of high priority that previous researchpresents, my results of the survey show something else. The respondents consider themselves as honest people in the search for a future partner.

Hed, Alicia, Malki, Sandi January 2022 (has links)
Today's society is changing and is becoming increasingly digital. When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, the old patterns of society had to change in order to reduce the spread of infection. The pandemic made it possible to create change in working life as many had to work from home to avoid large crowds in the community. All meetings that used to be physical now became digital, and questions that could easily be asked to the colleague in the office now required a planned meeting. In this study, we have therefore chosen to study how teleworking has affected relationship building in working life. The study will focus on perceived obstacles that teleworkers have encountered when it comes to interacting through digital tools. We have chosen to limit our study to only those individuals who worked remotely and who only met their colleagues a few times physically. The results showed many advantages of working remotely, but many were skeptical of the concept at the beginning of the pandemic. Today, many believe that it is easier to combine work and private life when working remotely. On the other hand, the majority experience loneliness without social interaction and difficulties with communication through technology. It turned out, despite the disadvantages, that the majority wants to continue working remotely. Finally, the study showed that the physical contact between colleagues is significant for a personal relationship to exist at a distance. The participants in this study experienced that the physical workplace is the room for relationship building which means that today's technology is not enough.

Plumage

Sewell, Gwendolyn Vera 21 April 2017 (has links)
Plumage is a stereoscopic 3D experience showcasing the culmination of a personal exploration and observation of birds: a digitally modeled and rendered, fantastical bird referred to simply as a Phoenix. In many cultures birds are tied to ideas of freedom, power, and the otherworldly. Preconceived notions of a phoenix exist across many cultures as well, but for this project I wanted to create my own interpretation. While working, I drew upon my admiration of birds for their qualities of strength, beauty, and curiosity to infuse into the project. Inspired by the dynamic and detailed works of naturalists like John James Audubon, I took the opportunity to make my own observations and records of birds. I began exploring different processes of digitizing three-dimensional forms by scanning bird skins. However, due to the nature of fibrous and reflective materials (of which birds are often both) I ran into challenges that made accurate and detailed representation difficult if not impossible. From there I made the decision to pursue a more imaginative artistic approach to the project. More than just a homage to feathers and birds, this project represents the continued value of artists in the field of preservation and their ability to push visuals further with their own observations where automation and digitization fall short. Using life references I created my own textures and forms with details meant to emulate my favorite aspects of the birds that inspired me throughout my journey. Larger-than-life, projected stereoscopic 3D allows the audience to see details clearly and enhances the dynamic quality of the piece; both very important elements that needed to shine through in the final artwork. Plumage is made possible through the use of the Cyclorama, a series of convex screens that surround an audience and allow them to appreciate scenes projected in stereoscopic 3D. / Master of Fine Arts / <i>Plumage</i> is a projected 3D experience that uses state-of-the-art projectors, 3D glasses, and a large, cylindrical screen--known as the Cyclorama. My research began with a focus on 3D scanning dead bird specimens from a museum collection as a means to archive them and make them viewable by anyone with access to a computer. Unfortunately, the scanner I used could not effectively capture the intricate shapes and colors of feathers, and the resulting scans were not sufficiently detailed for learning or archival purposes. In the end, I used the observational data I had collected from the bird specimens to digitally sculpt my own ficticious species of bird. I closely studied the feathers and wing structures of the birds available to me to recreate a detailed, digital 3D representation where scanning had failed. Using software, I created still images of the finished digital bird sculpture. To create the 3D effect when projected onto a screen, I created pairs of images for the left and right eyes. The projectors and 3D glasses, coordinated with a powerful computer, allowed the audience to experience convincing 3D effects such as the Phoenix jumping out or sweeping a wing at its audience.

Kan kunskapsöverföring effektiviseras? / Can knowledge transfer be made more efficient?

Löfgren, Lucas, Grevelius, Philip January 2020 (has links)
Knowledge is very important when working within an organization, partly knowledge of its tasks but also knowledge of the organization and how it works. In order for the knowledge to be retained within the company, a functioning knowledge transfer between employees and new employees is required. This can also be done by digitalization of processes and routines. In this study, we investigate whether knowledge transfer within IT departments can be made more efficient and, if so, how.     During this study, we have collaborated with the pension company Alecta and their IT department. We did an interview with the chief architect at Alecta and a survey that employees in the IT department responded to. The reason for this was to collect both qualitative and quantitative data to gain a deep and broad understanding of the knowledge transfer at the company. This type of study is called triangulation, which is an application and combination of several research strategies in the same study.    The results of this study showed that it is possible to make knowledge transfer more efficient. What we could see from the result was that physical dialogues when you need help and misinterpretation of concepts created an inefficiency in the knowledge transfer process. Based on the interview and the survey, we could see a connection where the human factor is most important when it comes to the efficiency of knowledge transfer. On the other hand, the results also showed that digital means and tools can facilitate the processes within the knowledge transfer and thereby also make it more efficient.

Aplikace systémové dynamiky v oblasti digitalizace dokumentů / Application of System Dynamics in Documents Digitization

Rataj, Jan January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with system dynamics and its applications in the field of digitization of documents. This is an area whose importance is increasing. The need for the transfer and storage of digital documents at the present time there is a significant increase in the volume of data continues to grow. One of the appropriate tools of analysis digitization of documents is the system dynamics, which in the Czech Republic in the area of document digitization has not yet been used. The objective of this thesis is to create a system dynamics models for the area of document digitization, through the application of methods of system dynamics and then verify their applicability to specific data digitization projects acquired from practice. These models are universally applicable to virtually all types of projects to digitize documents. The main contribution of the thesis is the development of system dynamics models, which are universally applicable to a wide variety of projects to digitize documents and can be used to simulate the progress of digitization of documents. In practice, these models for companies dealing with digitization show the benefits of documents digitization to potential customers.

Redovisnings- och revisionsbranschens påverkan av digitalisering / The impact of digitizationin the accounting and auditing industry

Halvars, Viktoria, Svantorp, Petra January 2016 (has links)
Previous research has shown that the technological development has affected many industries. We have chosen to focus on a particular industry and the main purpose of this study is to explain and understand how the accounting and auditing industry has been affected by digitization. The study consists of three research questions, the first one explores how the accounting and auditing profession has changed during the 2000s, the second examines the key factors to consider in the implementation of digitization and the third examines the change that accounting consultants and auditors are facing. The study is based on empirical data collected by accountants and auditors and our three research questions that are based on our theoretical framework. In order to answer our research questions and main purpose, our study has a qualitative approach. To get a deeper understanding of our topics, we have collected relevant theories in a theoretical framework. We have conducted eleven semi-structured interviews, with both accounting consultants and auditors. The analysis is based on our theoretical framework and our empirical data. Based on informants' perceptions, our conclusion is that the accounting and auditing industry has been affected by digitization in many ways. Unlike previous research, we have noticed that the auditing industry is far behind when it comes to digitization in the daily work activities.

Innovative Techniques for Digitizing and Restoring Deteriorated Historical Documents

Landon, Jr., George V. 01 January 2008 (has links)
Recent large-scale document digitization initiatives have created new modes of access to modern library collections with the development of new hardware and software technologies. Most commonly, these digitization projects focus on accurately scanning bound texts, some reaching an efficiency of more than one million volumes per year. While vast digital collections are changing the way users access texts, current scanning paradigms can not handle many non-standard materials. Documentation forms such as manuscripts, scrolls, codices, deteriorated film, epigraphy, and rock art all hold a wealth of human knowledge in physical forms not accessible by standard book scanning technologies. This great omission motivates the development of new technology, presented by this thesis, that is not-only effective with deteriorated bound works, damaged manuscripts, and disintegrating photonegatives but also easily utilized by non-technical staff. First, a novel point light source calibration technique is presented that can be performed by library staff. Then, a photometric correction technique which uses known illumination and surface properties to remove shading distortions in deteriorated document images can be automatically applied. To complete the restoration process, a geometric correction is applied. Also unique to this work is the development of an image-based uncalibrated document scanner that utilizes the transmissivity of document substrates. This scanner extracts intrinsic document color information from one or both sides of a document. Simultaneously, the document shape is estimated to obtain distortion information. Lastly, this thesis provides a restoration framework for damaged photographic negatives that corrects photometric and geometric distortions. Current restoration techniques for the discussed form of negatives require physical manipulation to the photograph. The novel acquisition and restoration system presented here provides the first known solution to digitize and restore deteriorated photographic negatives without damaging the original negative in any way. This thesis work develops new methods of document scanning and restoration suitable for wide-scale deployment. By creating easy to access technologies, library staff can implement their own scanning initiatives and large-scale scanning projects can expand their current document-sets.
